It's good but ordering a to-go order, they need to separate the sauce and topping, made the taco really soggy when food was delivered.

We were in the area and thought we'd give it a try. Chips and salsa are extra which is a downer for me. I love chips and salsa but understand this is "street food" and not a sit down. I got the steak and barbacoa tacos and my wife got chicken. She liked them and mine were good. The barbacoa probably was more flavorful. The hot/red salsa was no joke. Pretty spicy. The salsa that came with the chips is hard to describe. Not sure if it was a high vinegar or if they infused it with CO2. It hit my tongue hard as soon as it was in my mouth and didn't have a great flavor. I'd rate them 4 or 5 stars but the salsas just were a let down and didn't have a good taste. Sometimes I hop on Yelp when I'm hungry and search spots local to me and try them out if the reviews/photos look good. I ordered a steak quesadilla over the phone and it was ready in less than 15 min. I drove over and picked up my order....it's a small, clean establishment with seating. I loved the service! The lady that helped me at the register made sure I had everything before I walked out. I was very pleased with my order, the quesadilla was big enough to share. I enjoyed every bite and I look forward to trying more of their menu items. read more

Pretty decent local chain, but this location does not measure up. First off, its very small compared to newer ones that have gone up in East Valley. The proteins lacked flavor and the steak was charcoal. My burrito tortilla was overcooked and broke apart when I ate it. I used to live in LA & San Diego so I have been to alot of Mexican restaurants. This is a really nice one in my view. I like the look and ambience. I've been 3x and really enjoyed the cheese, bean and steak burritos. The former is only $6 while the latter is double that but both worth it and very large close to 2 meals worth of food. My corn tortilla steak soft taco was also excellent. Service is fast and professional. I subtract a star for very small seating area and awkward layout. I like to do takeout here. I had Mesquite for the 1st time today. There are 10 locations in ARIZONA. How have I not been here until now?! The Manager of 4 years at the Mayo location- Rosendo was so welcoming and informative about the company, owners and food. I had 2 steak tacos with fresh pico, cheese, cilantro, and sour cream on a corn tortilla add lime. 2 tacos for me was plenty because, I had a big breakfast earlier. I didn't get a plate but, next time I will. If you are a blood donor and have your paperwork as proof, you will get free tacos! I am recruiting o positive blood donors for a friend in need and thought that this was really admirable. Even though the postcards say 2/2-2/12 Rosendo says that this is an ongoing campaign for all 10 locations. This is my new spot for lunch off of Mayo right by Taglio salon. It is fresh, healthy and. so much more a better option than all of the fast food chains in the shopping complex. Taco Tuesday... can be anyday! read more

The meat, chicken and steak were grilled to perfection. the flavor and even though simple was simply delicious. Our 3 year old ate the entire serving and loved the jamaica. I ordered a " chicken breakfast burrito " for breakfast this morning. I understand this place serves up open flame meats and it's a hit from the reviews ... BUT the breakfast burrito is lacking hardcore . The tortilla is massive and they minimally filled it up tortilla had a flap over the top just loosely sitting . It was mostly just chicken ... got half way through the burrito and started to notice sprinkles of eggs and potato and didn't notice a presence of cheese what so ever ... The salsa is decent the red is HOT which I love got the lips hot and a good sweat. The green I wanted more from was pretty basic but not bad . All in all for $9.19 I'll skip this place for a breakfast burrito and go to " Bertos" around the valley and pay the same If not less and get double the size of this burrito . read more

Mr Mesquite is cheap, simple, and delicious. The tacos are around $3 each, and they are $1 off on Tuesdays. A meal is very affordable and can easily be under $10. The menu and ordering process are both straightforward. Pick your base, then the protein, and then the extras. Choose between a taco, burrito, bowl, or quesadilla. Fill it up with steak, chicken, vegetables, or both meats. The optional steps are adding rice and beans or a beverage. Get in line, order, get your food, and then go help yourself at the salsa bar. The food is made-to-order, but it is a quick process. The meats are flavorful, and the food is filling. I have only been to Mr Mesquite closer towards closing time. It was not super busy then, but people were still coming in for dinner. It is safe to assume though that this place is very busy at lunch with how affordable it is. There is not much seating inside, but there are a few seats outside. You may have to wait for a table during peak hours, but at least parking is plentiful. After visiting a string of bad taco shops lately,I was hoping that Mr Mesquite would break the streak. While it has its redeeming qualities there is also room for improvement too. It's a casual joint so you order at the counter and they call out your order number when ready. You can choose between tacos, a burrito or a quesadilla. Your meat options are chicken, steak or a mix of the two. If you get tacos they ask if you want cheese and guacamole and if you want a corn or flour tortilla. Additional toppings can be found at the salsa bar next to the soda machine. They had some pico de gallo, cabbage, and a green and red salsa, however there was hardly anything left in the containers besides the cabbage and no one seemed to care to refill. I went with three mixed tacos, with cheese and guacamole and what little pico and onion I could scoop up from the salsa bar. My girlfriend got one steak and one chicken taco with just cheese and made it a combo - which adds rice and beans. My friend also got tacos. The flavor of the chicken was awesome. The steak had good flavor too but was a little tough. Perhaps since we came in later in the night they were just rehearing what had been previously made and that is why? Overall the flavor was decent I just would have preferred more options in stock at the salsa bar. The beans were average and the rice wasn't too great. Would probably just stick to tacos text time. Service was fine but not overly friendly. A girl was cleaning up by the near empty salsa bar and didn't attempt to refill anything... again it was still before 8pm so it wasn't right before closing time.. but it certainly felt that way. First things first -- the meat is awesome! They use a mesquite charcoal and the flavor is terrific. The other ingredients are also tasty. The cabbage, onions, tomatoes -- all good and fresh. The rice and refried beans are good too. I had a steak protein bowl. Overall it was very good. However, they're somewhat lacking in the customization department. I didn't see any queso, sour cream or black beans. All things I like in a bowl. They did have guacamole, which was good. Since the menu concept is one that allows you to customize your meal, I was a little surprised they didn't have more options. (Also, no chips of any sort.) They do have one of those sweet Coke machines with like a bazillion flavors. I love those. Where else are you going to find Vanilla Coke Zero! They also had a salsa bar. It was pretty average. (Lettuce could have been fresher.) Also It was slightly warm inside. (Though it was 110 outside.) Oh, they also do delivery and carry out orders. Been here a few times for lunch and dinner, and have been happy everytime. The owner is so sweet and kind, and the staff seem happy to be there. Their burritos are delicious and piled high...they don't skimp on the ingredients, and the chicken quesadilla is just as good, and enough for two meals. Love the horchata, too! read more

This place is horrible! I ordered via Uber eats 1. The all the chicken is burned (see photos) and soooo bitter ...it's barley eatable. 2. I was given old slimy cilantro (see photos) 3. The automatically gave my flour tacos...I have a flour intolerance and can't eat flour ...I assumed they would have given me corn tortillas for a taco. I wasn't even given the option to select what kind of tortilla I wanted 4. My husband is lactose intolerant and they automatically put cheese on all the tacos, so he can't eat those either. I wasn't given a description of the taco that stated there's cheese on the tacos. This place clearly doesn't care about their food quality which may translate that they don't practice safe food practices either which can be very dangerous, especially right now during COVID 19.
