Upon asking the waiter which was all over the place - his response "we used 3 avocados and the bowl is big" ummmm no!!!! It was very disappointing! We came here for my birthday with my wife and daughters. We had reservations and when arrived we were seated within a couple of minutes. Maria was our waitress; she came over and introduced herself and took our drink order. We all had various margaritas. All were good and we order guac and chips for an app made in a molcajete bowl - awesome!! For dinner my wife and I had the steak and chicken fajitas, and our daughters had a Veggie Burrito Bowl and the Birria Street Tacos. All our drinks and food came out in a reasonable amount time, and all were hot and good. we all enjoyed our drinks and meals then I was surprised for and birthday celebration. They brought a sparking candle in a skull, a sombrero for me and a Tres Leches for us to share and the staff sang Happy Birthday - awesome! We were pretty full and at this point, but we devoured the Tres Leches desert. It a very nice birthday dining experience. Great food, service, and ambiance! Went in a Sunday afternoon for bunch. It was very quiet and quick. The menu was limited to their brunch menu but the waitress stated it was pretty close to their regular lunch/ dinner one. Our take shared guacamole (delicious) and a cheese dip- i forget the name. The cheese came with pita like chips which were out of this world yummy! My fajita plate feed 2 easily! Great variety and flavored well. I didn't care for the hash browns. My daughter liked her pancakes however i wish the tres leche was already mixed prior to coming out. Been eyeing this place for a while now and finally got a chance to check it out on Friday. It was semi-packed, and the bar was almost full. I see why they have reservations on the website. I sat at the bar and got the Mango Strawberry, which was really good. Unfortunately, I had to leave early and didn't get to sample any of the food, but they had a good variety, so I will definitely visit again. Came for a dinner to Mesita in Garden City which I had never been to. The inside is beautiful , and the vibes were jumping as well. we got seated super quick despite it being packed and a Saturday. For appetizer we had to get the fresh table side guacamole which is delicious with their freshly made chips. The salsa was also delicious. I recommend this for sure! You can also make it spicy or not spicy depending your taste. Their is so much to choose from but everyone wanted tacos, so we got the combo, which allows you to choose ten tacos of your choice. For a table of four it was perfect, and allows you to try different ones. My favorites were the fish taco, and the birria taco. They were delicious and fresh, and did not take long to come out. The margarita was also good! Overall, I do recommend this place but do note that the service did feel rushed and not the friendliest. S-U-C-C-E-S-S! Driving through Garden City, my plus one remembered that there was a Mexican restaurant in the area. I was instructed to drive across Stewart Ave. Viola'(Walla) there it is!!! I was so excited to find that I would get to enjoy Taco Tuesday. I pulled up on the street side, and I had to be careful getting out of the car due to traffic. Walking towards the restaurant, you will see tables, set up for outside dinning. Walking inside you can see a spacious dining room and a bar with people enjoying Happy Hour! We were directed towards the back. Come to find out that there is parking on both side and the back side has a parking lot. Viewing the restaurant, I noticed that the decorum was highly influence by the Mexican cultural being vibrant and colorful, traditional artwork, including light fixture, even the floor was attractive. We were greeted by the anfitriona, same as hostess and immediately seated. I think you need reservations. But we were seated, and our waiter came over. I informed him that it was our first time. So, he rolled out the red carpet and treated us like celebrities. His name is Juan. It appeared that Juan was molded of unknown characteristics and superior skills and then they broke that mold. I found no other waiter or waitress that possess the skills needed to make a customer happy to visit this restaurant and ecstatic to talk about their experience. Jaun is a very exceptional representative, and any company would be honored to have him. We started with chips and salsa. I also ordered guacamole. the guac's texture was silky smooth and very tasty. When dipping the chips, each chip is a whisper of structure--barely surviving the act of being picked up and dipped. So, I started spreading the guac on with my fork. I ordered two chicken taco's and one steak because it was a combo. My plus one ordered the opposite, two beef and one chicken. I found my tacos to have a crunch in every bite and chew, but the shell was not that of Mr. T Bell. We enjoyed taco Tuesday immensely. The taco's were portioned perfectly. The manager, Jeoprey, (Jeff) came over and introduce himself to us and gave us a history of the chain and locations, Garden City, Rockville Center, and Amityville. At the end of our meal, we looked at the dessert menu but were overstuffed. We were ready to leave, and Jeff came over and surprised us with desert, Churros! Super kind staff and very quick service, was really happy with our experience! Lots of parking outside and plenty of space indoors, we were able to keep our stroller open at our table without being in anyone's way! Went on a Friday night with a few friends and we all enjoyed our meals/drinks. The menu had so many choices for drinks, we went with the mango strawberry margarita, passionfruit margarita, and the mesita margarita, which were all amazing (and came out super quick!) The gentleman that waited our table was the nicest which is the real reason for the 5 stars! The seating was spaced out enough that we had enough room for all of our drinks and dishes. This is my second time at Mesita, and I can't wait to come again. I love the guac here it's customizable spiciness and tests super fresh. The fajitas are served on a fun board and loaded with toppings, definitely enough for a meal and then some. Food: 4/5 We got the Guacamole ($20) and the Fiesta Fajita ($65). Each table gets a complimentary chips and salsa which was very nice. Guacamole was solid. It was definitely not worth $20 though. You might be wondering why I got a $20 order of guac. You'll see why in the review of the Service in the section below. The Fiesta Fajita was great for the most part. It had a lot of steak, chicken, shredded pork, and shrimp as proteins and plenty of toppings/sides. They only give 6 small tortillas as part of the order. I like to load up my fajitas and we still had more than half the proteins and sides remaining after using the 6 tortillas. I had to ask for more tortillas and another 3 tortillas cost $4. I was charged without knowing. Service: 1/5 Service was just flat out BAD. This is going to a long list of bad. Dinner was off to a good start when the hostess showed us to our table and we got the complimentary chips and salsa instantly. That was about the end of the good service. Our waiter's name was Juan. Before we could even sit, he asked if we wanted to order guacamole. We politely declined because we still had our jackets on and did not have a chance to sit and look at the menu. We sat down and before we could look at the menu, Juan came back and kept pushing us to order the guacamole. We said fine and ordered. Then we open the menu and realized it was a $20 guacamole and realized why our waiter kept pushing us to order a pricey order of guac before we could even check out the menu. It felt very scummy and that was just the beginning of the meal. Service at Mesita is sooooooooooooo slow. Drinks, food, extra napkins, refills, etc. all took forever to get to our table. I would have my hand raised for minutes just to try and flag down Juan or any other waiter. Staff would walk by our table while I had my hand raised to get their attention and we would be ignored. Our meal took 2 hours and we only ordered a couple drinks, 1 appetizer and 1 entree. We were there from 6pm to 8pm on a Tuesday and the restaurant was not even close to full. I asked for some more tortillas so we could make some more fajitas and Juan brought 3 more out. He never told me it was going to cost $4 and it wasn't listed on the menu. He brought it out as if it was complimentary. I didn't find out there was a charge until I got the check. I guess he doesn't have to tell me the price of anything I order. I just like to know the price before I order something. It just came off as scummy because he already pushed the guacamole on us earlier. While we were still halfway eating, a staff member came over and tried to take our plates as if we were done eating. I was literally mid bite when she tried to take our plates. We had to stop her or else she would've taken about half our entree. We did not ask for the check or ask to wrap up the meal at that point. Ambiance: 3/5 Mesita was ok. Overall a decent experience. First the cons: waiting for our friends to come we opted to go to bar for cocktails. A bulliet bourbon on the rocks and a din Julio with club. $43?!?! Next was the presentation....guac arrived in a huge bowl that took up half of our table for 4. It was plentiful but took up so much room on the table. For an appetizer we had the guacamole which was chunky and delicious. we licked the bowl clean For dinner we had veggie fajita and shrimp fajita oh and did I say a house made margarita. I came here with a group of 8 people in total. They are a great spot for a big group and they let us close out the restaurant (let us stay until about 11pm). The food is really good but the portions small. We really enjoyed the guac and chips and my husband said the salsa is some of the best he has ever had. The steak fajitas seasoning was really good but the portions a bit small for the price. The shrimp tacos were good but also small for the price. I love margaritas but wasn't a big fan of their burnt or pineapple margaritas and have definitely had better. Overall good spot in the neighborhood and really fun especially for groups! read more

Off to a great start... The vodka soda was beyond weak. Zero alcohol. We had to ask for complimentary chips and salsa. Ordered the fiesta fajitas to share and requested less oil (based on my prior visit). Arrived as ordered rather quickly, no complaints. Had to ask multiple times for water refills. Wanted more tortillas but no server was around. Finally requested additional tortillas, they took forever! As we were STILL eating the staff kept asking if we were done, more than once! Finally I asked to wrap up my leftovers. Had to request more containers since they gave me only one. Even as I was packing my own food, the staff was cleaning away my utensils. I absolutely love Mesita and the food is always delicious. I decided to stop here with my mom and nephew for an early birthday dinner. They always start you with chips and salsa and the chips are always hot and fresh. We got the sweet plantains and as a note, they are sugar crusted and you have to request no sugar. We started with the chicken empanadas and they were delicious! It was my nephew's first time having them and he loved it. He had two chicken tacos and a shrimp taco and he said they're his favorite. I had the steak and it was perfectly cooked and had great flavor. My mom loved the slow roasted pork and appreciated that it wasn't too salty. Overall, this place is a 10/10! It's my go to spot after work and I usually get the steak or chicken fajitas which are also delicious. I ordered the avocado toast which is listed as a vegetarian option on the menu, but when it came it had chorizo everywhere. First of all, was in the area and in the mood for really good Mexican food. I see U smol man! Upon sitting down, I noticed that there wasn't anything special about the decor...it needs some work and it's a bit dark, or gothic-like. The ceramic dinnerware where the food was served on was noticeably of good quality. I heard the new and recently opened Mesita location in Amityville is more elegant. I never received any complimentary chips and salsa. I ordered a Taco Combo Trio for $28. One was the Steak Taco with pico de gallo and asparagus, which was may I dare say, was very delicious. The Birria Street Taco was also another good choice that I recommend. The Fish Taco with battered fried cod was, unfortunately, a disappointment. It was kinda on the dry side and hard. They also did not seem to use fresh oil. Believe me, I know how to cook and can tell when something is off when it comes to ingredient, so don't recommend ordering the fish taco. Surprisingly, the customer service at this location was the best you can ask for! The manager was very polite towards me when I walked through the door. He graciously walked me over and offered me a seat at my table. My waitress, Rocio, was patiently available to assist me when I was ready to order. Throughout she was great! The sink in the ladies bathroom was full of water and paper towels were soaking wet, so some improvement needed in regards to maintenance. You need to ASK the waiter for the dessert menu, it's a small, separate menu that is not included with the larger lunch menu! I ordered the Bananas Locos for $14, which was the most delicious, freshest banana pudding, topped with whipped cream and a sprig of fresh mint leaf, all inside a large crispy churro bowl that's drizzled with good quality honey, fresh blueberries and thinly sliced strawberries. All the ingredients in the Bananas Locos were super-fresh excellent, but what was disappointing was where they skimped here, I found no vanilla wafers, not enough of the drizzled honey on the churro and too little fresh fruit. The churro bowl itself was crispy and as fresh as can be! So, the dessert finale was somewhat in need of some minor tweaking! Would I return back here again? Yes, but probably only when Mesita is offering their menu special, due to high pricing in relation to food taste and quality inconsistency. read more

I wanted to try a new place for dinner before the show so I made early reservations for Mesita. Walking inside, it's lively. Lots of people enjoying their well crafted cocktails and outrageous appetizers. We first ordered drinks, I started with the signature Mesita Margarita, wow! Fantastic margarita. The complementary chips and salsa are also a step above. A few years ago, I was vacationing in Charleston and a saw these tremendous bags of Tostadas that they served as nachos. Not at Mesita, they served warm and freshly made tortilla chips. The salsa, it had a slight touch of heat but was very good. There are so many amazing starters, fried tamales are calling me. I never heard of fried tamales so I'm interested. So so good, this was a terrific first dish. The tamales tasted like the restaurant had their grandma making authentic meals. For my main entree, I ordered the Mexican Shrimp Scampi. Again, another 10 out of 10 dish. The shrimps are very large and cooked perfectly. From the sauce to fresh cut vegetables, this dish is insane. Years ago, I wrote a review about a New Mexican restaurant and received the ROTD. That place today couldn't hold a candle to Mesita, this is the best Mexican restaurant in the area. That's right, I threw down the gauntlet. If you want a single "taco" then go to a taco truck.
