Edit to update. Had to unfortunately put my cat to sleep. Was told I would receive her cremains, paw print, and fur clipping. The staff did not do the fur clipping. Confirmed with two front desk reps that all three would be done. Her paw print has to be baked at home (in 2021 my first cat's print was completely done/baked). Dr Matt is knowledgeable, patient, and kind in his explanations and plan of care. His medical assistants and front desk staff are welcoming and helpful. Taking your little fluffy loved one to the doctor can be scary but this team makes the experience an easy one read more

I have had Mesa vet clinic for a number of years and this review is based on the availability of MVC to provide yearly exams for my pets, staff mainly scheduling , phone system, parking and the total "transaction" instead of a personal relationship established with a caretaker of your family member(pet). This review is not a reflection of the veterinarians at this clinic because they are outstanding. You will find your "pet" will be scheduled for a yearly exam a year out, regardless of when they need to be seen there is no exception to this rule and although they have a "emergency urgent care", I asked if I could pay the urgent care fee to have my pets seen sooner for their routine wellness exam and was told "absolutely not". When I brought up the fact , I have a high priced papered dog who is going to be bred and needed to have a wellness exam to provide the stud owners, the front office stated and I am paraphrasing, it is not a medical emergency and therefore they could not get my pet in any sooner regardless of this need, but if she did become pregnant I could always take her in to the urgent care if something came up that was an emergency, but her routine exam would still be schedule a year out. So I am unable to get verification to my stud from her veterinary that she is well enough to be her pregnant --because they are TOO overbooked, understaffed and just all around unavailable. When you are able to do a vaccination with a technician you encounter a overcrowded parking lot, an overcrowded waiting room, you have to hand your dog off to the technician, you wait in the lobby while they take your fur baby and administer the needed vaccine in the back rooms. The technician brings out your fur baby hands you them and gives you follow up information in a crowded lobby where sometimes it's standing room only and you will "check out" and pay for the services rendered. Again you are having to wait, this can take 10-30 minutes while the phone is continuously ringing people are being put on hold. By the time you pay for this chaotic experience you may get lucky and their system goes down and you have to call them at a later date to process your payment because their "payment system" went down. When a primary physician knows he has enough patients kindly stops accepting new patients-- not here they just continue to accept new patients all while not making sure their current patients are taken care of-- again this is a "transactional experience "not a" personal experience". We are currently looking at all our options as this is not in the "best interest of our fur babies". read more

Felt uneasy about changing to this office after the woman that answered the phone was extremely rude when I was trying to make an appointment. If you don't have space for new patients, then just say so. Don't move appointments without asking people, that's a really poor business practice. I didn't find out about the new appointment time until they called to confirm which was two weeks after it had been scheduled. I don't have all day to give you free reign on my schedule; that's the entire point of having an appointment: so each of us can plan accordingly. Feeling like I dodged a bullet not bringing our new puppy and older dog here and found somewhere much friendlier instead! I asked around to friends who bring their pets here and heard from several that their experience has been the same as mine, even if they've been with this practice for years. read more

They removed a volley ball size cancerous tumor from her uterus. When we picked her up she was so happy! Thank you all for taking such great care of her! Absolutely despise this business. We took our dog here; who had been sneezing blood and was losing a great amount of it with every episode she had. We waited for 4 hours just to get her in to an appointment that was already scheduled. People who got there after us were already getting their dogs in and out before we were. They don't allow you to go in so you don't know what the heck they're doing to your animal. The 4 hour wait in the car was terrible for my dog and when the receptionist came out to take the credit card, she had the worst attitude. Not friendly at all and she jerked it away with a scowl on her face. When the vet FINALLY saw her, he came out and told her he couldn't diagnose her. They made us reschedule just to take her blood. When we went back a week later, it was 3 hour wait. They told us they'd call us back about the results. No call whatsoever. They couldn't help or diagnose my dog and they couldn't help with her episodes over the phone either. They sent us medicine that wouldn't resolve or lessen any bleeding. We took her to another vet and he diagnosed her right away and gave her medicine to stop the bleeding immediately. Don't come to this disgrace of an establishment. Waste of time and money. read more

We decided to try this place out after a clinic in Black Forest did a horrible job declawing and removing growths on our cat Steve's paws. The staff was very helpful and kind, we did have to wait about an hour once we got there but considering they were completely packed and we were on the urgent care wait list this was not unreasonable. We also were expecting to pay quite a bit since we did come in as urgent care but the price was much better than any other emergency clinic near us. We were well taken care of and the doctor was extremely kind and listened to all of our concerns. We will definitely be taking him and our other cat here again! read more

I am simply flabbergasted. I took a loved pet in about 18 years ago to be euthanized and recall the experience with the staff to be stellar. Having been with another vet for many pets over many years, I've never forgotten Mesa and wished I'd moved my services to their clinic. Today, I need to help end the suffering of my 16 year old, blind and deaf, Shi Tzu. She's really struggling to breathe. Mesa answered the phone early, only to inform me that they will not assist me because I have not had a pet in their clinic in the last five years. it's my fault to have not had the gumption to officially change my vet clinic prior to this. But is this the best way to help me and my little family member in a time of stress and need? I think not. Though the woman who answered even apologized (probably just toeing the line her bosses dictate), it seems that this callousness likely would not encourage folks to bring new business into their clinic. During the lock downs in 2020 we couldn't go into the office with our pets. I took my dog in for a rabies shot. Just Rabies! I prefer to give one vaccine at a time in case there is a reaction. Without my consent they decided to give him distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, AND parvovirus, in addition to rabies, with no authorization! It was all way too much for my dog at one time and he started having seizures and frank bloody stools. I called to let them know and they were very apologetic, but... Anyway, I did some homeopathic detox and he came out of it thank goodness. But he will never be able to have another vaccine. I will never know which vaccine caused the issue. Nor will he ever be able to go to a boarding kennel or doggie daycare. I will have to titer test for immunity if I want to know his status. Sadly, this should never have happened. Other than that, my experience with them was always stellar! read more

I scheduled a spay for my dog in September. I originally made this appointment back in March and was told the price for the consultation and procedure would be $250. Upon arrival it was a 2 hour wait even with an appointment. I had to pay $64 for a "spay consultation" which they charged as an annual visit. They gave me and estimate sheet and the actual spay would cost around $300-500. I was deceived and would not have taken my dog for a visit if I knew the spay was not the set price I was told over the phone. The spay estimate was comparable to regular vet estimates. It was a complete waste of my time and I personally feel like a "spay consultation" is a way to just charge people for a legit 5 minute visit. read more

I have been a customer of Mesa Clinic for many years. They have helped me get through some very difficult times. My dog just recently had some issues that, at her age, could be a problem and I needed a Veterinarian to tell me she is fine. The female person that answered the phone and informed me that I could not get an appointment for months did not respond in the friendly manner that she should have. I am very disappointed in the service that I received over the phone, especially from a person that is being paid to handle an upset customer. I understand that the Covid put everybody in a bad mood because I am a transit bus driver and I have been there, done that. That is still not an excuse to keep treating people especially people that are attempting to get help for an animal that is considered their family. I do not appreciate being treated like I don't matter in a time when I need to get at least information on how to get the help for my dog that is needed. This person that I was forced to deal with thinks that she is the only person that has to deal with demanding people and that she is so overworked. Well get real female person! read more

My baby died because they don't know how to do triage. By time we got to the er vet it was to late! I'm really unhappy as we were told at first 1.5 to 2 hour wait. After 1.5 hours we called was then told 45minutes to 1.25 hours. Never again will I trust this place! read more

I have never met a nice staff at a vet office. There was three gals working the front, all of whom were super friendly to my dog and 1 year old baby, who was grumpy and hungry, and probably barking louder than most of the dogs in the building. We. ame in as a walk in and were still offered service eventhough there was another 20 people ahead of us. They do get very busy so try to be there before ten! Doctor Fitzgerald made a tough situation with out loved one as practical and realistic as possible and he seemed cordial and caring in the tough news he had to deliver. We all have different experiences and it saddens me that there is anything said negative about Mesa Vet. We have had such extraordinary good experiences with this office...and any vet we have worked with had done such a good job. We have to drive 70 miles to get our critters to what we consider the best possible care. We have horses, dogs, cats and a beloved mini Juliana pig. They can take care of them all! In my personal experience Mesa Veterinary clinic in Pueblo Colorado has been going down hill with their professionalism the past few years. My family has been going to them for many years now and have lost some of our animals due to them refusing to help us. Our family cat for a disabled Veteran almost lost his life because Mesa vet refused to help us. Thankfully another vet stepped up & tried there best in every way to help us & thankfully for there thoughtful caring staff our cat survived. Our family dog had been taken there several months ago due to a condition that could've been taken care of by them but they once again didn't give us any hope & wouldn't see her for no reason. Sadly she didn't make it. Most recently yet another one of our animals got deathly ill out of the blue & of course we tried to take him to the vet to be seen. We sat in the waiting room for over 2 hours waiting to be seen. I understand appointments are first seen but in life & death emergencies there should be more prioritise set. Due to them making us wait our cat passed away. I'm sure for most people they have helped them but for our family they've failed their jobs. For all the things they lack & their unprofessionalism I will no longer be taking any of our animals there ever again. I wish everyone good luck with there animals & pray these people treat them & their animals with more respect & professionalism then they treated us with. I for one wouldn't recommend them to anyone I know. read more

We had a part of our family, our cat, diagnosed with CKD in December, 2020. I was very pleased with his care at that time, and with the Dr. T. Renkes. He had stopped eating and was peeing blood. The doctor gave him antibiotics and an appetite stimulant, which got him to eating again. I gave him SQ fluids every day for 5 months. When he crashed in May, 2021, we came back to the clinic and was assigned a new doctor. Never told why we had a new doctor. Our new doctor made the diagnosis that his kidney failure was getting worse, from a blood test. We were not given any other options for tests. Later, when I did my homework, I read on the bottom of his blood test results the the recommended next step to his treatment was urinalysis. Urinalysis was not done. My cat stopped eating again, and I was not given an appetite stimulant. I felt pressured to let him go. I wish now that I would have been more aggressive about his treatment and asked what other tests we might do, as he may have had a bad UTI going on. But again, I feel the doctor should have suggested other choices for tests to be run. I should not have to ask for those tests. They should be offered, then let me choose. If I can request my cat's doctor, I will go back. read more

Our furry four-legged child, Vinny, was brought to this Clinic for a urinary issue. After the initial exam by Vet Matt, our cat was cleared with an antibiotic shot and an off label med. The second visit was for the same reason but this time a different vet poo-pawed the treatment by Matt and Vet Fitzgerald in a 10 min exam sent Vinny home with Valium and a diagnosis that he was just nervous after his previous problem with the pain. Finally, when Vinny couldn't walk, we sped to have him treated and Vet Tiffany indicated he would need immediate "surgery" and would need to stay 3 days minimum and they had round the clock care. She called to say our baby had a lot of "sludge" in his bladder and it was necessary to flush his bladder a few times, he was on pain meds, but all was fine. We headed over to see him and he was out of it tied to tubes and in a very small cage on a paper pad. We were told that we could call and talk to anyone over night and get a status--which we tried to do numerous times. No answer. We went the next day and he was in pain and had not eaten, was on a wet and bloody pee pad. When questioned, Tiffany indicated she was able to monitor him this way. We offered to bring food (declined) and asked why no one answered the phone at night and she stated that they were working with others but that Vinny was fine, resting comfortably and had there been a problem, we would have been notified. The next morning my husband brought food but wasn't allowed to see Vinny. When he called me on the way to work, I went immediately after speaking to a nurse who told me Vinny had taken a turn overnight and there was blood all over his cage with a temp of 103.9. Everything in my world felt wrong. In the meantime, Vet Matt (an insult to vets) called my husband while he sat with a room full of colleagues was told "the nurse doesn't know anything, Vinny is fine. His temp is going down and he's in good hands." I didn't know any of this but when I got there, they had me wait 20 mins and cleaned him up. He was limp and on death's doorstep. Tiffany told me she believed he needed to be sent to an ICU hospital almost 2 hours away. She said he was left alone overnight without pain meds for the past two days and that is why he had a fever. WHAT? ALONE? We immediately took him to the ICU hospital and had them redo the surgery but he needed a transfusion and we again had to transport him another 2 hours to another city because of a lack of matching blood. Unfortunately, he had contracted bacterial infections from the open catheter from his stay at MESA and was "leaking blood" from his heart and on the 5th day of this disaster, we held him in our arms as he passed. I would give up my own life to bring him back. He was the center of our universe. He was the class clown and then we received the "Doctors' Reports" where the medical records were altered with information like: "Owners know he will be without overnight care and agree." We had a sit down with Tiffany where she admitted they made several mistakes. We all know Matt is a liar and I'm guessing he intended to call us with that "sorry, Vinny took a sudden turn for the worse and passed" just as we left work but their nurse and my sudden arrival changed his plans. One doctor asked me if Matt was going to find a look alike and try to pawn him off on us. This is as ugly as it gets. Contact me if you want more info. I have been going to Mesa vet for years had my dog treated 2 * 4 her nose pus and blood coming out of the side of her nose I've taken her to the doctor three different times for this one time for Doctor goode you have to be a complete millionaire to go there! Anyway I found the culprit to my dog's bleeding nose I called there yesterday excited to tell them that I saw the cause of her problem they called me back told me that all there help for my dog has been exhausted that I need to take her up to the Colorado Springs to a specialist, even after found the culprit to her problem. The vet that called me completely didn't want to hear anything I said cut me off and was very rude! I am not going to quit trying with my dog like they did so easily, I called to complain to one of the owners and haven't gotten a call back so this is the end to Mesa vet.. it bothered me all day yesterday how I was treated and it's still bothering me especially how long I've been taking my animals there. I know it's a tough time with the covid-19 but last Monday I was there for 5 hours and they said they couldn't find anything my poor dog set there without me for 5 hours.. We took our dog here for emergency treatment after our veterinarian denied her care. The staff were extremely understanding and compassionate. The veterinarian was thorough and everyone involved made this horrible experience less traumatic. I won't take my dogs anywhere else. read more

WILL NEVER take my pet back to this place !!! The young lady at the front desk was extremely rude to both my boyfriend and I and acted like she didn't want to be there. Then the female vet there is the absolute rudest, poor excuse for a veterinarian that I have ever seen. We left our dog there for IV fluids and medications and were told we'd be called with blood work results within the hour. 3 hours passed and we finally had to call them to get results. When we went to pick up our pet to go home he was soaked in urine and when we asked the girl who brought him up if we could get a towel to wipe him off she got very upset and acted so put out. The doctor never even came up to talk to us. We ended up taking him to another emergency veterinarian here in town even though they see emergencies we didn't feel comfortable taking him back to this place. the other clinic we took him to was much more experienced and 100% friendlier!! Would not send my worst enemy to this clinic! read more
