Horribly designed shopping area. They put trash bins in FRONT of most stores. Ugly.

Mesa Riverview, managed by Kimco, is one of the worst designed shopping malls in the country. Literally everything about it is wrong. Parking, signage, layout, garbage bins, design, lack of patios, lack of pedestrian mall, driving through is terrible etc etc. Who puts the garbage bins in front? This is the mall where stores and businesses and restaurants come to die. Even the parking lot for Bass Pro is far away /terrible as there's a wide unused driveway in front. Look at the garbage bins in front of Rito's and Papago. They're constantly open. Ugly. They two buildings that used to house Revelry (bankrupt and closed obviously) are among the worst buildings in history and that's why they've stayed empty since and will remain empty blights on Mesa. The monstrosity covered pavilion on the corner of Dobson and Rio Salado is useless and designed by a preschooler. What a waste of money and space. I could go on and on. Too bad. Tempe Marketplace is worlds better.

    Good time!

It has the basic stores there but needs more businesses and food places. Very nice upkeep though.

The District is an outdoor mall area that has a number of smaller shops, eateries and a Harkins Theatre. I live just miles from this area and make several stops here each week. I mostly come here to go to the movies or to the bookstore. Coming to Tempe Marketplace makes for a nice day and I enjoy all of the services that they have to offer. One of my favorite things about the District area is that they will decorate for the holidays. During Christmas, they will set up a very large Christmas tree and hang lights up all over the walking areas. They have showcased art exhibits like floating umbrellas during the summer months to draw in people. The District also has a stage where they will have live music and at times will host concerts. There are splash pads for the kids to enjoy when it gets hot out and fireplaces for the colder evenings. I have even done a one mile Kilt run through the District. It is nice that going to the mall has evolved to more than just shopping and has lots more to offer.

I like that this mall has high end stores but it also has stores for everyone else. There's a food court and a movie theater, too. Some of my favorite stores include Sephora, Lululemon, VS/VS Pink, and Jo Malone. I don't come very often even though it's less than 10 minutes from work. The parking situation is usually a nightmare and the traffic around the mall doesn't help. I feel like it's congested everywhere around the mall all the time. I do stop in once in a great while if I really need something. It's very clean and they are always opening new stores. The food court has a pretty good selection of cuisines, but if you're looking for anything fancy, you won't find it there. If parking was a breeze, I would probably come in more often, but I guess that's a good thing, lol. Happy shopping!

Adj: Still Satisfactory and Solid Shopping Site…read more Still a pretty good mall in the Phoenix area. It's technically in Tempe, but it's in the valley so it's all the same, lol... There's so much offered here and really convenient and centrally located. Many different retail stores and restaurants. From clothing to novelty, to toys, shoes, to department stores, it's all here. Plus lots of eateries of all kinds, esp. in the food court area. Several clearance/"outlet" type stores for brand names like Nike too. There are also the movies, a Rainforest Cafe, a Legoland mini-theme-park, plus the Arizona SeaLife Aquarium, so you can definitely spend the whole day here and have so much fun, and find all kinds of goodies that'll lighten your heart and your wallet. Mall staff we saw were working hard at keeping all parts of the mall clean, esp. around the common areas like the bathrooms and emptying out trash cans, etc. at the food court. Individual retail store staff were friendly and helpful too. Overall, a really comprehensive and comfortably curated collection of stores in a clean shopping center environment. Most importantly, you'll get your steps in as this mall is in a vast space and on one floor, so it's quite spread out and you'll do a lot of walking. Thankfully, it's also nicely cool here, perfect for the heat in AZ.

However, I just can't get past that because this mall is straight FILTHY. There is garbage everywhere, the bathrooms are disgusting and look like nobody tends to them. And I also can't shake the feeling of feeling unsafe just because of what's happened here in the past. It really needs a revamp and then I think this mall could have real potential. But it's kind of just outdated and gross.
