This is a nice step for kids between high school and university. The teachers are friendly and the tuition is doable. You can get some of the basic credits without going into debt. It is right next to the freeway very easy to park and get in and out of the classes. They are good. read more

This rating is for the admissions department, trying to get them to do anything is like pulling an arm and a leg. On multiple occasions I have been told different answers to the same questions, which leads to too much wasted time. I have spent 2 hours just today alone talking to their support. It's much more helpful calling rather than using the online chat, the ladies on the online chat have always given me wrong different answers within the same day to simple problems that could have been solved easily. I'm just kinda fed up, I have been very proactive and on top of my education and their incorrectness has delayed my ability to sign up and pay for classes as quickly as possible. read more

This school is by far the worst school anyone could attend. I have been on the phone with this school for SEVERAL hours everyday for the past 3 WEEKS only to find myself at a dead end. I am a resident of Arizona for several years now and hold an Arizona drivers license. They are charging me out of state student fees even though they have my ARIZONA ID on file! This is my first review ever and I feel like I should let people know! I have been attending MCC Nursing program and I finally made it to the clinical part :) The program itself is tough, exhausting and yet rewarding, however when I got to the clinicals at Mountain Vista I had an instructor Janet who was AWFUL!!! She was more worried about disappearing on her phone or computer or venting about her Divorce, I was there because I needed to learn and she was never was around. We also were cut early from our rotation due to " she didn't feel good" I needed that experience to help me. The program is great, just cross you don't her as an instructor or your doomed! read more

I have been attending Maricopa Colleges for over 3 years and this by far is the worst college ever. Since I have been attending Mesa, I have had to pay out of my pocket for supplies when all my financial aid info was turned in on time, and there excuse is the system had a discrepancy. And when I enrolled over the phone for the first time I wasn't fully enrolled in course because of a system error.This is my 2nd semester and last at Mesa, and I just got off the phone and was told again there was a issue with our system and I'll have to wait to receive my funds. Seriously? Is it really the technology or human error. I gave Mesa 2 stars, because the last 2 teachers were awesome, to bad they work at MCC. read more

I had to swap a class from chandler gilbert and replace it with a mcc class and everyone i encountered was super friendly and helpful!!! the people helping me made me feel important and like they really valued me as a student! they made everything super quick and easy!! the guy helping me helped me bypass all the lines and i was in and out of there in about an hour! i have no complaints!!! read more

I have been brushed off and ignored for over a month now after continuously trying to apply. I'm having issues creating a new student account and have been lied to multiple times that it will be resolved. Every time I call I'm transferred at least 3 times, and twice now when I've called I've ended up right back at the number I first called. I'm going in circles and it's driving me crazy. If this is how the educational aspect of the school is run then I'd like to know now so I know where NOT to put my money. Classes are filling up and no one seems to care, they just send a "friendly" email apologizing for my inconvenience, telling me it will be resolved. Then, radio silence. Really wanted to go here specifically for the planetarium since I'm pursuing planetary science but I guess I have no other choice except to go to another community college who will prioritize my issues and actually help me so I can get an education. read more

Terrible school, no one wants to help you and they will steal your money. I will never go to this college again. I transferred from a California college and was told i needed to take a cis class by MCC. I signed up for the class and was told by MCC a day after the drop refund date that the class i took in California transfered as the same class i was told to take. I had to go through their "refund appeal" process and was told i will not get any refund the class. I also paid 160.00 for the book and was not refunded a penny. I also emailed the dean and was told that there decision is final. This school is full of scam artists. Do yourself a favor and pick a different college. read more

Went there last night for their monthly free planetarium show. It was a really cool show that was unfortunately set to Pink Floyd music. After the show the science dept professors had a huge telescope set up and we were able to look at the moon. First friday of every month! read more

MCC is a pretty awesome school. I spent a semester at the Red Mountain campus, which is smaller, but the buildings are nicer, and summer 2013-summer 2014 (4 semesters) at the main campus. The main campus is much bigger however the buildings are not as nice as Red Mountain. However, they are all decent and they are in the process of doing construction to make it even better. Most of the classes I took at main campus were very well taught and the teachers usually will work with you to ensure that you have a successful education experience. They also have a lot of different activities that go on for the students to enjoy and collect tickets from visiting different tables and you can turn those tickets in for a prize; usually pizza but it was a shirt once as well. So why not 5 stars? Registering for classes. At Red Mountain it was really easy to get registered for classes... walked in to the office, asked to speak with an adviser and 15 minutes later you were enrolled. Here you have to wait in a very long line just to get your name on a list and then usually wait over an hour to speak with an adviser. You can register for classes online as well (which I prefer to do) but if you're taking an overload or need special permission, be prepared to wait in that long line. Also if you have FAFSA most likely you will have to stand in that line about 30 times to do verification. Other than that infamous line tho everything else at MCC was pretty enjoyable. read more

Back when I was an undergrad at Arizona State, I took some classes at MCC as to avoid further blemishing my school record at ASU. I had this perception as many others have had that taking certain courses at a junior college level would be somewhat easier than that of a university, namely math and science type courses. I was clearly mistaken and earned a new respect for math courses taught at MCC. One fall semester apart from my 15 credits at ASU, I also took two additional courses at MCC, a Calculus I class and a technical writing course. I was blessed to be in a Calc. I course taught by a Prof. Santini who began the class with... "are you guys ready to get on the Santini roller coaster of fun?!?" upon hearing that I knew it would be an interesting semester. To say the least, it was more than interesting, although I barely passed, this guy knew his calculus, he had the passion and he instilled his teaching in that he wanted his students to understand the foundation of calculus, so, for him the basic formulas were meant to be second nature to us. His class wasn't easy, it was one of the most difficult undergrad courses I've taken but at the same time it was the most rewarding. The same went for my technical writing course in which my professor graded our papers to the nth degree. I have to admit that MCC has instructors that are great in what they teach and prepare their students to be competitive at the university level, well, that was my experience. I do admit that this is one of the more crowded and busy junior colleges since it serves as a feeder school to Arizona State plus many of its students, like myself were concurrently enrolled at ASU and MCC. Another lesson learned from MCC was my parking skills. I learned how to be hawkish looking for parking. Since my classes were mainly on the side of campus facing dobson rd, my parking options were limited especially since from mcc i only had 45 mins to drive to ASU, look for parking there and get to class. Even now when I have to go to MCC for something, I still get frustrated looking for parking. Overall, MCC offers quality courses taught by pretty good instructors, and I recommend supplementing your schedule by taking courses at MCC if you're already at ASU because whatever your final grade is at MCC you can transfer the grade for credit towards your degree without hurting your cumalitive gpa at ASU. read more

testing center needs a new manager who doesn't talk down to disability student. i called to make sure my test had been scheduled and "Kim" the department manager was everything but polite from the moment she answered the phone. she even compared herself to my illness suggesting I was being dramatic. Instead of apologizing she just asked me what I would like her to say. I'm not sure if she does this to all students or not. it's not very helpful to be that way when you have no idea what someone with a disability could go through because of her poor customer service. it makes students feel uncomfortable even coming in to take the test. if this is how she treats students how can you expect them to succeed? read more

I moved to Arizona from Minnesota and with a degree already. I have spent more time being frustrated and waiting hours to even speak with councelers here at Mesa Community, and when I did speak with them they were absolutely no help. I was constantly feeling rushed to get out of the office, and I really do feel like my education there was a waste of time. I wanted to get another degree, and have more possibilities, but Mesa Community has made it where I don't even want to go back to school because the admissions is outrageously ridiculous to even understand, or work with one on one (ya know, to make sure you understand and your going down the right path). I truly felt unvalued there, and I set up a month to month payment plan to pay for my tuition, and now the school is stating I still owe my entire tuition, in which I had this paid off last year, and I am just getting messages from the school now?.... Super frustrating, again. Please beware when you are trying to go to school so you don't have the struggles, and frustrations I have been dealing with during my experience here. I am extremely disappointed, and do not recommend this school. Not even for a simple couple of credits. read more

The track is open to anyone wanting to get fit. The throwing coach and athletes have been particularly accommodating and friendly. The teaching staff that I have encountered are remarkable. The campus is clean, easily accessible, and close to good eateries. read more

I really like them so far. They are much better than any of the 4 colleges I have been to (including Rio Salado...really don't like Rio at all). I've been a student here during 5 years and have to say it is one of the best college in the Valley. Great organization, always friendly stuff. I want to say especially thanks to ESL department and Fitness Center as well. Not that I did not have a frustrating experience with getting my transcript evaluated- there are only two, that is only "2" persons doing it and a phone call to the Dean expedited it for me. Younger students would be discouraged. And then, leaving with an "A" average, I had a hang up- that is a conflict and did not even know it-about my diploma did not come- resulting from a substitute speech class (requirement for graduation). BUT, may I say that I had an anthropology PROFESSOR who had been to China 19 times, three great math teacher and one uninformed one that I dropped- a wonderful young and enthusiastic and talented pottery teacher, great Plant and Society teacher-on and on great math tutors, clubs, and a beautiful campus that is now an Arboretum. This school has real value and I miss it. This is not a super expensive university where they fill out your FAFSA.....get a grip...Put your complaint where it matters- on maintaining the ratio of Professors to Adjunct and go work hard and solve a few problems like...in life... Alot of technical problems with online WebCT going down for maintenance often and etc. However, it is a good, convenient community college and you get your refund money fast. As my time at MCC draws to a close I can't help but be thankful that I'm getting out of here alive. There are so many problems with this college it's tough to know where to begin. The past two semesters I have been dropped from all classes due to non payment even though I have pending financial aid and after repeat assurance that I would not be dropped. It's not just happening to me but to hundreds of other students as well. It's a glitch that they just can't seem to fix. Annoying and frustrating. There is a serious lack of academic advisors and if you go to see one you're looking at a two hour long wait. Trying to talk to financial aid is a whole other beast. Nothing they say is consistent and I believe they just say the things they think I want to hear just so that I'll go away. It's a sad way to treat people who are seeking an education. There is a serious lack of women's studies courses and the few that are here are only online. I'd like the option to take some of those in class since they are more conducive for discussions and networking. Just take this all in, do your research and always get a second opinion. Never take what anyone says here at face value. Stick to your studies and be on top of everything and you'll survive too. Best of luck! read more

I'm a Veteran scheduled to leave the service this year after 12 years of service and I sent two separate emails to the email address provided for the Mesa Community College Veteran's Services Office on their website and after almost a month I have yet to receive a reply. Last week I called the school and spoke with the male representative in the VSO and when I told him I had sent two emails he told me that the female that manages that email has about 12 other things to do and is really busy. So I decided to talk to him about my questions I had asked in the emails I sent. As he's explaining information to me he is yawning. Not just once, but several times. I found it extremely rude and not the experience I hoped to have when choosing a college to go to. I was set on going to this college but now I am exploring other schools. If the VSO doesn't have the time or the professionalism to provide future veteran students in a professional manner, then I would rather go elsewhere. read more

*** stay away from this so called community college.*** they will robbed you in bright day light. i was trying to go back to school and i wished that i never lived to have the experience that i had at mcc. back in the spring 2017 i went in to the campus to inquire some info about applying to the mcc since i came from out of state; the staff there quickly sign me up for classes that had already started for the term. i came to realize that the reason that they signed me up so quickly is because i came from out of state meaning more $$$ for them. so jumped right in into attending classes but then 5 business calendar days later my family situation turned south financially so i decided to dropped out one class that cost me $,$$$. i was not made aware of the scool policy and didn't have time to think twice because i was rushed into enrollment. when i brought that to their attention, i was told that i needed to appeal - i then appealed the stupid appeal process took 4 weeks just to be told that my appeal was deny. i was sick to my freaking stomach. i bought books for $250 that they wouldn't take back. i was appalled. how can authority at mesa community colege be so cruel???? how can a school policy be so wrong??? this is a crime that needs to be investigated- how can they go to bed at night knowing that they have stolen from the poor students like myself??? for heaven sake i was not even qualified for loan bc i already had a bachelor's degree. i will continue to make sure that no body i know step foot at that "detention" college. future student please do yourself a favor: stay away far far far away from that school--- it's that bad. go to a university even if the price might be a little higher. the stress that you will experience at mcc cost more than the price that you would pay at a real school that has reasonable & comprehensive policy. i can't rate the instructors because i attended class there just once. i'm still not over the money that i wrongfully lost. read more

SUCKS OUT LOUD- Really, after all this time you cant get the student access (MEID), portal, etc straightened out. Every time I go there it is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. This time it is so screwed up I can't access it at all tells me my logins are wrong etc. All of a sudden there is additional characters added to my MEID etc. Have been in their system at least 10 years, and still feels as though a monkey screwing a tire with a banana is 100x more efficient etc. and this is the least of their problems there. Most of the employees (not instructors, with one exception, M. Khorsandi) I've dealt with have been rude and unable to answer the simplest of questions. When I was in the Drafting program M. Khorsandi was the dept. chair. Without exception I have never been treated more disrespectfully, by someone who is supposed to be well educated but is in fact one of the most ignorant people I have ever encountered at any level. read more

This is a terrible school, the staff has no idea what they are doing and working with them toward registration or financial aid is an absolute nightmare, they will have you jumping through hoops for what seems like an eternity. The teachers are lazy which is good if you're looking for easy grades but terrible if you are actually trying to learn. As a student athlete I was disgusted with their athletic programs, they do nothing to help you move on to a bigger school, because they really do not care. If you have any ambition in life DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL, it will actually make you feel stupider. read more

MCC financial aid is totally disorganized and does not help when they screw up and send you more money than you should have gotten instead they wait 2 months to tell you that in order to receive future financial aid I would have to payback what they sent me. I have a 3.6 GPA and only ONE semester left to finish my welding degree and they refuse to help in anyway.......MCC is GARBAGE....welding teachers are excellent but Admin is HORRIBLE. read more

If you call to financial aid or need a simple question answered they'll make you wait 30 min on the phone. Mine as well just drive to the campus it'll equal that same amount of time on the phone. Also plan on waiting 2-3 hours just to see an advisor and if they advisor wants you to speak with financial aid be ready to wait another 30 min to an hour. I've enrolled March2016, sent my transcripts to be evaluated, submitted my fafsa in march2016, meet with an advisor, took my placement tests, and basically did everything I needed for school. But, like always some student worker messes up the whole process by telling you false information or didn't submit your paperwork/driver license which pushes back your fafsa they tell me. I'm going for the dental hygiene program and tell me until now "oh it's hard to get into because chem/bio classes fill up fast". Thank you for giving me the run around these past 3 weeks which should have been done back in March when I enrolled. Now my fafsa is on hold because all the classes I need are full. They need to be well organized and educated on different matters. They always are unsure and lead you into the wrong direction or trying to advise you to take classes you don't need. They need to build a bigger campus at MCC and hire more professors knowing the amount of students that want to attend their college. read more
