I wish there was a way to expand on different ratings. Not everything is created equal, and while I…read moreadmire and appreciate the instructors, there are other factors that prevent me from giving it 5 stars. First: The instructors, which I can only speak to Mr. E. (Ernie Kornya) and briefly Mr. James at this moment, since I'm barely in Module 2. They are very knowledgeable in their craft. Mr. E. brings a wealth of information and support. He is patient and truly cares about the success and comprehension his students attain. He makes learning the difficult stuff, fun and rewarding. Ms. Dalis is such a joy to see every day. She is compassionate and tough. She cares about what she does - that much I can tell. She will fight for you as long as you are fighting for yourself. Who wouldn't want that kind of backing in your corner? Everyone I have encountered so far (staff-wise) plays a critical role in our journey, and I have zero complaints on that. 5 STARS. Second: The resources are minimal, at best. There aren't enough materials, tools, workstations to go around, and it creates a huge learning gap for those who have to be bystanders in lab. There's only so much you can do when you're grouped with 5 other students during an exercise and we're all sharing one set of tools. How can we successfully complete a circuit if there's only one person performing the surgery, while we onlookers nod our heads in synchronicity? It's a waste of time to me. Speaking of time, I have never had to follow such a strict attendance schedule at any point in my post-secondary institutions. Historically speaking, we adults are usually at the mercy of our own lecture/attendance, note-taking, content comprehension, etc. At UEI, you are not graded solely on the understanding of the content, homework, quizzes, etc. No. You are graded (heavily) on whether or not you show up at your expected time, and stay the entire duration - NO MATTER WHAT. That part is crazy to me. I don't think I'll ever understand it. Having to leave EXACTLY at 13:00 (not at 12:59) is ludicrous. We are not children. We are well past middle school. If class runs successfully until 12:50, then let's leave at 12:50. Simple. 2 STARS. Longest review I've ever made, but it's important to note these things. There's not enough time to mention everything, but I wish I knew half of my grievances up front. I probably would've went in a different direction. Regardless, while I'm here, Mr. E., thank you for showing up for us every day. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and trade secrets. Thank you for behaving like a normal human being, rather than someone who is better than us. THANK YOU, MR. E.!!!

I'm currently in solar electric applications module, we are installing solar panels, inverter,…read morecharge controller and battery cells, but since there are 23 students in the class, and we're working as one large group which is stupid, I haven't touched anything, really lousy plan for the labs. I don't feel like I've learned that much while going to school here

I am halfway through my schooling at Pima…read more Our class grew a lot and that causes for some drama (which is pretty typical when you get a bunch of women anywhere). Our Lead instructor is very knowledgeable and patient. She makes it easy to come to her with issues. She really has a nack for teaching. We have another new teacher as well. She seems very knowledgeable and passionate about what she is teaching us. We are getting frustrated as she over teaches us and is a very direct (to some it may seem rude). She possesses a wealth of knowledge. We also acquired two new teachers aides. They are close to our age range and they are very helpful. They are patient and understand that we are new to learning. They are very calm and even keeled, which helps a lot when students are stressed out. Why I did not give more stars? For me, personally, I don't like that not everyone starts in sequence 1. Our class was lucky that we did. However, not knowing everything and having to start in Sequence 2 or 3 is very difficult. I also was hoping that each time a new group of classmates joins us...that they would teach infection control right away. Overall, if you chose Pima Medical Institute, you will get a great education with instructors who love to teach. You will have the ability to obtain a great career and further your goals in life.
