    The 1975 concert
    Cindy C.

I really like the layout of this outdoor theater and the sound system is really nice. We had a good time watching the 1975 concert. Majority of the viewing area is in the shade area by 5 and the grass is very lush. Few things I wish I knew before heading out the door: 1) they don't allow blankets to be brought in even though you will be sitting on the grass the whole time. 2) horrible parking; we were there 30 min prior to start of the concert and all the parking lots and street parking were full. People were resorting to parking on the neighborhoods surrounding the theater. 3) smoking is allowed here; not good for those with asthma. 4) purses- they don't let anyone in with large purses or bags. It has to measure smaller than 12"x12". Many were resorting to going back to their cars. 5) please don't wear mini-skirts when you know you'll be sitting on the grass! Wish they had stated all of the above somewhere in the fine print. Hopefully my review will help.

We recently visited the Msaa Amphitheater for the Riger Clyne and Wade Bowen show this past weekend. Amazingly, after 15+ years of living in the East Valley, I'd never actually been to this venue, but I (mostly) loved it! The acoustics are great, the drink lines weren't too long, and the bathrooms were clean and orderly. The only negative experience I had was that the security guard tried to make me throw away my tiny bottle of Purell hand sanitizer because we are "no longer in a pandemic" and she couldn't allow it. I put up a small fight and the other security guard let me in with it. I'm not sure if the security staff are hired by Meaa Amphitheater or not, but if they are, they really need to better train the people they have searching bags.

The "line" for the concert-I talked to security and he said, it's general admission, can't do about it"

Still one of my favorite venues to catch a show. Ok yeah it's small but it's easy to find a seat on the grass or either hill on both sides to watch the show. Like at least here it's nice to find work so hard to find a free parking spot too as there are always plenty. Always is a good seat and more of a laid back attitude. Beers again are outrageous at 9 a drink but I think now thats just sadly the times. It is an outdoor venue so make sure to stay hydrated but overall acoustically and visually I pick this place above most others in town to see my music here

    Avett Brother awesomeness.

Do they require covid vaccine or negative covid test?

When we visited last month, there was no requirement for the vaccine or mask, since it is an outdoor venue. Some artists may specifically require it though.

They say no backpacks allowed but purses smaller than 12x12 are okay. Would you say a backpack that is smaller than 12x12 (like those super small ones that are currently trending) be okay?

You should be fine as long as it fits the size requirements :) they are super strict here though and send a lot of people to put stuff away. Personally I always try to keep everything in my pockets when I can!

Can folding chairs be used in the lawn seating area?

    I don't think so

I still enjoyed my time each time even though we were probably the youngest as someone got my husband and I tickets here for my birthday the past two years. The music was fantastic and we saw the variety show and the Grand Finale show and I enjoyed seeing multiple genres of music. The lead singers and musicians were phenomenal, and I absolutely loved the costume changes. The outfit changes really held my attention and was a great part of the show. The food, however, was just okay. I wouldn't come here for the food alone, but rather for the overall experience and to do something different. The meal included vegetables, potatoes, mashed potatoes, spinach cheese ravioli, chicken Parmesan, pulled pork dish, and a pineapple fish dish. This was the same food both times we went, so I'm not sure if they ever change it, I wish they did for a change. The pulled pork and cheese ravioli were good, but I wasn't a fan of the other dishes. The chicken Parmesan was probably the worst I've had as it wasn't at all what I expected from a traditional chicken parm. Dessert is a slice of chocolate cake that's already at your table when you arrive. I did think it was a nice touch that they pass out foil before the show ends so you can take it home and not waste it. The recommended tip listed on a sign at the table is $5 per person, so in addition to your ticket price, expect to pay at least that much extra. Drinks are also not included, so that's another added cost. Overall, this is a great experience, more so for 50+ and would make a fun gift, especially for a couple looking to do something different. I wish they had a family friendly show where it encouraged families with kids as I could see my kids who love music at 2 and 4 enjoying the show and dancing! I sat about in the middle of the theater and had a good view of everything. I really think most seats will be just fine!

There's a variety of food and it was all delicious. There's a few different proteins, this night was swiss cheese chicken, pulled pork, and beef stroganoff. The was roasted red potatoes and garlic mashed potatoes with gravy. And sides that included suateed vegetables and cheese raviolis , dinner rolls and butter. There was also a salad bar, but after a little bit of everything previously mentioned I was way too full. Had to save room for the chocolate cake. Then came the show. I never saw Elvis when he was alive, so I was excited to see this show. The guy does a great Elvis impersonation, taking you from the 60s Elvis, advancing to the Vegas Elvis era. And, since "and Friends", other folks in the crew did tributes to act like Bobby Darrin, Nancy Sinatra, Tony Orlando, Barbera Streisand, Melissa Manchester, etc. All people Elvis worked with to some level in his lifetime. Interspersed, was information about Elvis, the things he did for people, and discussions of the songs he sang. It was informative and very entertaining. The whole crew were incredibly talented at both singing and playing their instruments. The Silver Star also offers other variety shows, like a Country Music one, classic radio music one and a couple others. I had never been to a dinner theater before and really enjoyed it. If you're looking for something to do for a full evening or maybe have people visiting and looking for something to do, you should totally go!

If you park in the garage, they will validate your ticket. Guaranteed parking is always a big win in my book. I've been to the Tempe Center for the Arts (TCFTA) twice. Once for a concert and once for a play put on by the Arizona Theater Company. Both have been A+ experiences. First off, the venue is located right by Tempe Towne Lake which makes for a picturesque location. The venue itself is just as beautiful with stunning architecture, both inside and out. It's clean. It's comfortable. The ushers are friendly. There is plenty of seating to hang out outside before the show, during intermission, or after. Once you arrive, there's a small lobby area to check in. From there, walk to the back to reach the theater. It seats roughly 100 people or so, so it's definitely a small theater. Which I love. You're right there in the heart of the action with a great view of the performance. With that being said, you won't get as elaborate of a set design as bigger theaters in town, but they make up for it in other ways. E.g. affordable ticket prices.
