But after looking at the reviews I decided to give Maids by Trade a try...and was on the alert for any discomfort....low and behold...it was a WONDERFUL experience. My team of Silvia and Zullima was fantastic. Their work was completely over and above all expectations. My home almost glowed by the time they finished, and that was no time at all. They hit every minute detail I requested without exception. They were cheerful, efficient, and they even asked me if they missed anything or if I wanted them to address more details . They returned my appliances to that "brand new" look I have never been able to achieve. My floors glistened. The sinks and countertops still shine. The next day had several house guests, and I never once did I have a concern about house keeping issues...(and I am always worried that I may have missed a spot -but not this time) These gals at Maids by Trade were both absolutely the best ever. I will use this service again and again for sure. And am very happy to recommend Maids by trade to anyone who asks. BRAVO!

His prices are fair, and he left my house sparkling. During his visit my disabled husband fell, and he offered to help me get him up and back in his chair. A kind and above and beyond service. I'm was grateful to have help with cleaning, but I'm paying you to do the stuff I don't want to, like clean the floor around the toilet. The not cleaning the floor around the toilet and not moving small appliances to clean a kitchen counter were my deal breaker though. I will use this experience as a learning opportunity

Here are a few reasons why prior to my parents heading in to town we needed to hire the services of…read moreMr. Maid: Lets just say that my husband and I have very different ideas about what is clean and what isn't. Both of us work a lot of hours and do not have much free time to devote to deep cleaning. Also, where we both work from home there can sometimes be a trail of chaos from one floor to the next. We pretty much looked at a calendar one day and panicked, we had no time to spare before the parents came in to town. Our normal surface cleanings would in no way make our home acceptable for parents. Now, as fabulous is my husband is, he isn't a fan of cleaning. So, the search for a one time cleaning service was on! Sadly, yelp did not have a lot of reviews in the area so I had to use another review website which had Mr Maid ranked quite highly as one of the best cleaning services in Portland. They are PRICEY.........I repeat, they are pricey. It was $160 for four man hours. They were going send two people over for two hours and told me to keep an eye on them and let them know when they should move on to the next room because even if they are not done they leave at the end of the two hours. On the day when they were going to arrive no one called me to let me know when they would be arriving. I was told they would show up at 2pm but would call to confirm. When I called the office to check on them I was told that the people who work in the office were at lunch and would call me back. When it was time for them to arrive and no one showed up, I called again. I finally got through and was told that they were just finishing up and would be over soon but there would be three of them that would each work for 1 hour 20 minutes. Fine, whatever...I just wanted them to get to my house. When they did show up (about 20 minutes-30 minutes late) I gave them each a task and they started cleaning up a storm. They were all quite nice except one of them talked on the phone for about 20 minutes. Granted he was still cleaning but will one hand. For $160 I want both hands and possibly both feet cleaning my house thank you very much. They didn't finish the entire house but I hadn't expected them to. They did finish all of the tasks that I gave them and did a great job. I did need them to go back and fix a couple things but that was fine. They had me do a walk through of everything to make sure I was happy, which I was. One of them was a bit slow (the one on the phone........grrr) and I was bummed about that because he didn't do as much as the other two. Overall they did a good job, easily 3.5-4 stars. But, I am inclined to give 3 stars because of the confusion prior to them arriving, the one dude that talked on the phone and was slow, and the fact that one of the office workers was a bit snarky. When I told him that I was down for 2pm he questioned me, asking why I wasn't given a window? and that they ALWAYS give a window and not a set time. Ummmm, not my problem! I just wanted my $160 to not be wasted. If you say 2pm, I expect you at 2pm or to at least call me to let me know it would be 2:30. I would use them again. They did a good job but to be honest, I would shop around and see if I could get a better deal. I am really not sure if they are worth $160. But, my mom did say my house looked quite clean! Hurray for that! :) What is that saying? You home passing your moms cleaning standards???? PRICELESS!

They had one shot to do it as I turned over keys the next day and got on a plane the day after that - and Jeff knew that when we scheduled. After 3 hours and $300 for just the housekeeping portion, the floors were dirty as were many other surfaces. He did send a crew back to do the floors that afternoon, but has not done anything further to settle the fact that I had to clean after them. I sent him photos a week ago and a follow-up e-mail last night and I've not heard from anyone regarding resolution/restitution. My next stop is American Express to dispute the whole charge. Looks like I was also double charged for cleaning while they were doing the air ducts and carpet. Lame. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE.

After the cleaning, the invoice I received was for 9.5 hrs and $522. I think I should have been alerted that was going to take longer. I was arrived at the house 4 days after the cleaning and found that most of the items listed in the estimate were indeed done. However some were left out. - The bottom kitchen cabinet and drawers were all left out. - I suspect the floor was only vacuumed but not mopped (I mopped it myself and water was jet black). There were also some stickers on the floor which could easily have been cleaned up but weren't. - The cleaning crew forgot to turn off the A/C. They did offer to come back and clean the cabinets but I already cleaned it myself.

I should preface by…read moresaying 1) we have a two year old and 2) that's just an excuse, because neither my wife nor I are any good at keeping the house clean and in order. It took us two days just to 'prepare' for the cleaners to arrive. After walking through with my wife, the cleaners got to work. We left to give them space. After three hours, they were done. Total: 170.00. 75 for the first hour, then 25/hr for each worker. Pretty fair, really. The work: We have a ~1200 sq.ft house, wood floors and two bathrooms (no carpet). They scrubbed both bathrooms including the shower stall/tub and floor in each one, wiped all kitchen cabinets down, all flat surfaces in all rooms, mopped all floors and vacuumed. The result: All looked much improved after their touch. The kitchen floor could have had another go, but the deck was kind of stacked against them (who lays down white linoleum in the kitchen!??). They forgot to clean the toilets entirely (by their own admission) and (my only surprise) didn't take the garbage out in any of the five rooms with garbage cans. The verdict: I learned to be specific about what I/we want; ask... Desiree will tell you yes or no or how much extra it would cost. My wife and I will be asking them to return for monthly maintenance cleaning and would recommend them to others without reserve. Plus, as my wife pointed out, they're a small independently owned company and they're pretty damn easy on the eyes (Desiree and her husband both are quite cute-- Well, what did you expect? With two floors, three dogs, a cat, and my being unable to do more than wipe a sink or counter, it got bad... I mean embarrassingly bad... Yelp gave me the option of sending a quote request to 5 different cleaning services, and Broomed was one of three that replied. From the first communication, Eduardo was clear about how his teams worked, the costs and more. The two team members assigned to clean the house showed up on time and were very thorough. They were friendly and deliberate with each aspect of cleaning a room before moving on to the next. They wore masks the entire time and kept socially distant. Even more, they were incredibly considerate of me being in a wheelchair, leaving plenty of space for me to navigate from one area of the ground floor to another as needed. Eduardo came to check in on the team and my satisfaction with their progress. I let him know that I'd like for them to come back, and am looking at the calendar to figure out when I need them again.
