Booked them for a move-in cleaning. The house was completely empty and they did a terrible job. Baseboards were gross, they didn't dust the ceiling fans, dead bugs in the windows (I paid extra to have them clean). Light switches were still covered with dirt. Pretty disappointing. read more

I was gifted from friends 2 house cleanings for the month of June. The first cleaning, the house cleaner from Merry Maids showed up 2 hours late. She had no vacuum cleaner (said the belt was broken). She did a horrible job of cleaning and didn't even touch my kitchen after being here for 3 hours. Today, I had my 2nd cleaning scheduled for 11:00am. By 12:30, still no house cleaner here, and after reaching out to her through voicemail and text message, with no response, I just went ahead and cancelled the service and asked for a refund. While a tad pricey, the service is well worth the few extra bucks. Needed a full house cleaning after moving out of a 1367 sq ft house in Rancho Cordova and Merry Maids was definitely up to the task! A totally professional, two-person team tackled the house in about four hours. Made the oven look like new. Made the bathrooms sparkle. Windows and baseboards shined. Kitchen cabinets and drawers spotless. Plus, I asked if they could hit the garage with the vacuum and they did do without hesitation. I debated doing the work myself after the movers came but knew I made the right choice calling MM. It is absolutely worth the few extra dollars to hire a licensed, bonded, and insured company to work on your most valuable possession. Vanessa and Rosa from Merry Maids (Gold River) come to our house once a month to clean it. We have had Merry Maids for about 11 or more years and have always been very happy with their service. Since it's only once a month, we do some housework ourselves in between the month also. So we do not expect Merry Maids to clean a month's work of dust and dirt. This company is the best cleaning company, in my opinion. They really care about the customers and give warm, friendly service. The house cleaners I have (Justine and Rosa) always are cheerful and friendly and they do a great job cleaning. They even do extra without being asked. They even care about my cat. :) The owner went out of his way to make sure my family was helped during a recent tragedy in my family, and I will never stop being grateful for his help and the cleaners' help. I think the prices are fair for the service they provide, and knowing that you are getting licensed, bonded and insured workers makes for peace of mind. Highly recommended! PS: idea for the owner for a future business: a handyman service that runs just like Merry Maids, but that you could schedule regularly to do little handyman tasks around the house and light outdoor cleaning. Recently, my mother & I had the pleasure of having Whitney and Gaylene in my mom's house for an initial cleaning. It had been several years since we had a thorough cleaning, and the houses was in pretty bad shape. The ladies arrived right on time, eager to get started. I could not believe how efficient and hard-working they were!! After several hours, the house looked and smelled spotless. I went in to ask about services & was shewed away literally a bald (not going to call gentleman) male waved his hands at me & told me he was in a meeting to come back I asked when would be a good time? He said "tomorrow" & as I walked out he said "not to come back" I didn't have a response one, for him I was in shock! I'm a professional I was on my way to work business casually dressed I feel very confident I didn't come across unworthy of merry maids services. I used Merry Maids for one of my rental move out cleaning years ago and they were exceptional, though pricey. However, sometimes quality costs........need to weigh cost vs. benefit for yourselves :) I used them once more, and was very disappointed, so consistency was clearly an issue. Recently (2/15/13) I decided to give Merry Maids a final try and was once again, impressed!! There had been a change in both supervisors and personnel. If you need cleaning services, book with Rosa and Isabel and they will exceed your expectations!! As long as they are working for Merry Maids, I will for sure use on any of my vacancies. I asked them to give me a quote on cleaning 3 bathroom and 1 kitchen at my house, and guess how much they charge me??? $400 dollars. I am not kidding. They charged me $400 to clean 3 bathroom and 1 kitchen. I would not use them again. Very dishonest and overprice. Their cleaning detergent stinks up the whole house. we had to open all window and disappear for a day for those cleaning detergent smells to go away. Bad experience with them. read more

After several years of bi-weekly service, I am not the least bit sorry to say goodbye to Merry Maids. Their service has always been OK, but not great. It's very common for them to miss items, like not cleaning all the way into the corners of the floor and missing cobwebs. Once, I realized they hadn't been cleaning the ceiling fans for several weeks. The only times I actually complained were when they missed an ENTIRE room, and when they broke something and hid it. There was a time when we canceled service for an extended period of time. When they returned, they increased my contract by $55, claiming that I'd been under charged before. Apparently, they failed to account for there being no carpet in my house, making the floor cleaning a 2 step process. They stated they'd been spending more time than contracted in my home. That didn't seem accurate. Nonetheless, I kept them because they the maids were nice, and trusted them in my home. Recently, I had unexpected medical expenses, and had to suspend services. I called immediately, and notified them I needed to cancel my next 3 cleanings (a total of 6 weeks). They were very gracious, and scheduled me for the first week of August. They even called last week, to ensure I was ready to reinstate. The day before they were scheduled to return, they called and told me they wouldn't come back out unless I paid for an additional fee for "thorough cleaning", since they hadn't been here in so long. While this is common practice, I was taken aback for a few reasons. First, we previously cancelled services, because my husband was going to stay home with our daughter. After six months, they sent us an offer to reinstate our contract at our original fee, with NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR "THOROUGH CLEANING". They could do it then, after 6 months, but not now, after 6 weeks? Additionally, I ship a lot from my home, and frequently have clutter on surfaces as a result. Cluttered surfaces do not get cleaned, and I've never had a problem with that. Additionally, I do not have them clean the children's bedrooms if they aren't tidy. There is one room in my house they haven't cleaned in months, because every time they were here happened to be a day my daughter's room was a mess. The last time they actually cleaned everything I pay for was probably 6 months ago. I've been extremely gracious in continuing to pay my full contract, in spite of them almost never spending the contracted amount of time in my home. Additionally, when Maria called to tell me this, her tone was much more abrupt than normal, almost snide. I asked to speak with Maureen, the manager. Even though I've received great customer service from her in the past, she was equally ungracious. In fact, she basically accused me of lying twice. First, she stated she couldn't imagine they were actually not cleaning my daughter's room regularly, as that's not normal practice, and the team lead never reported it. I actually told Maureen, myself, about it on one occasion. I asked her to speak with the team lead to verify. She informed my team lead actually left a couple weeks ago (I wonder why!). Then, she told me that this was happening because I kept repeatedly canceling. I clarified that I suspended service for a defined amount of time, I didn't cancel each appointment as it was scheduled. She said that wasn't true, because my file didn't indicate that. Kinda funny, considering someone called me last week, to confirm that my SUSPENSION period was over! Then, she told me that they had a price increase, and my regular fee would be going up from $165 to $180. Two hours after firing them, I had a new company in my home giving me an estimate. They pointed out several things Merry Maids had been overlooking, and will be charging me $112 for each visit, bi-weekly. So, I give a genuine thanks to awful company that is Merry Maids, for saving me $116 a month. I'm also pretty certain I'm going to be much happier with my new cleaning service. Unlike Merry Maids, they've got GREAT Yelp reviews! Regardless of what they say when they answer the phone, don't be fooled. It is not "a great day at Merry Maids". And, I feel sorry for their underpaid cleaning staff. read more

Both women were very professional and friendly. They only took one short break in the five hours they were here. My home looked so nice when they finished and it was clear that Rosa and Justine take real pride in their work. I have had Merry Maids cleaning my home weekly for at least 20 years. I have never been disappointed in their professionalism. They arrive on time, every time, and complete a thorough cleaning in a reasonable length of time. I'm usually gone when they're cleaning; but when returning, I can expect a clean and fresh smelling home. One of the cleaners, Ana, is one of the team of two (on most occasions). We've known each other so long, she's like family. A quick note does the job if I need for them to do something slightly different. If something gets broken (rarely; but accidents do happen), they always let me know. They do an excellent job for me each and every week....even though I'm generally not here to thank them. I have been a Merry Maids Gold River customer for over 7 years and have always been amazed by their professionalism, efficiency and attention to detail. I had a great team the first 3 years before those wonderful women moved on with their lives and a fantastic team the past 3 years. In between I wasn't always happy, but the office staff always was responsive to my concerns and worked hard with me to find the right team for me. I completely trust them to do a great job with natural cleaning products, unless I ask them to use mine for some projects which they are happy to do. They move so fast I leave the house to get out of the way. Remember the ads for the white tornado? That describes my team. And my house always smells fantastic when I return. I am such a clean freak myself that my friends don't understand why I need a cleaning service every 2 weeks, so believe me I am picky about their taking care of what I miss and I am rarely disappointed with their work. On the few occasions I wasn't happy the office responded immediately to fix or redo the project. It is important to me that anyone working in my house is licensed, bonded and insured. I used to hire free-lancing contractors who hurt themselves, never at my house, but had no insurance or benefits to help them. Merry Maids may cost more but they offer a legitimate business and their workers are covered for injuries. They are back-ground checked and drug tested which gives me the peace of mind to leave them to their business in my house. I trust them as well as we can trust any one else with our homes. It's never a guarantee but knowing they have done their due diligence and are taking care of their workers means a lot to me. I was just done with working full time and not having time to get those corners and blinds and window sills cleaned...ever! So I called Merry Maids for an estimate. They called me back right away; because I'm impulsive and no one else got back to me for the rest of the day, I had them come and do the "initial" clean. I was a bit disappointed as the price was way higher than the other estimates (when they finally came in!). Also we have actual wood floors, which they got VERY wet. Also left the dust & hair on the bottoms of all the chair and table leg felt pads so that after they left, I had to wipe up 60 some trails that they left on the clean floor! Plus get all the hair etc off the felt. They obviously didn't look back when they were done. When they came back for the regular cleaning two weeks later I had to go around and dust the backs of the shelves (not just the front, please!), use bleach on the switch plates and door knobs (isn't that part of a "normal" cleaning?), get the spider poop scrubbed off in the corners, etc. Hey, I admit I have a bit of OCD. But if I'm paying for it, I'd like it done at least to my standards. Bottom line, too expensive for what I got. read more

The merry maids have provided excellent service for us. They go beyond our expectations by seeing the little things that mean so much and taking care of them! For example, they take the time to dust the wings of our overhead fans and pick up our dog's toys and tidy up his area!
