Their knowledge and attention to every minute detail is astounding. The owner Don Higgins has very high standards for quality and runs a tight ship. They've done hundreds of VanPatten houses in my neighborhood and are more than familiar with the way they are built and the various problems they tend to have as they age. They had to come back a few times to fix things that could have been avoided if done right the first time. They cut corners in areas that would not be seen by us, the homeowners. I'm still finding debris and this was done in May 2026.

The difference is night and day. Think of your average diner compared to a Michelin starred restaurant. They worked magic using aluminum coil, plywood, and two thicknesses of rigid foam to make my house look phenomenal. They were even able to replace any rotten wood, and just added the cost to the invoice. They kept the site clean, and were pleasant to have around. I would recommend them in a heartbeat, but you need a relaxed timeline. November 2020 - I called them and left a message. Never heard back. November 2023 - I saw one of their signs, in town, that said "Email us for a quote.". I did and actually heard back. Within a few back and forth interactions we settled on the scope, type, and signed a contract in December. At the time, they were estimating around 10 months, putting us into October of 2024. In late August I got a call that a number of customers in queue in front of me were waiting on material, and if I was interested now. I told them that there were things that I needed to get done, and that I wasn't available. I managed to get everything done in record time, and called them back. They said that someone else was booked for that week, and we settled on the following week. Once they started, it took a little over a week.

Before we bought our house in Albany, we had it inspected. That's just what you do. And a good…read moreinspector is tough. They've seen it all. The good. The bad. The ugly. One thing our inspector called out was the quality of the roof. It was excellent. Not only that, but he commended the roofers on the quality of its construction. I tucked this memory away for about twelve years, until the day a tree fell on our house and tore a hole through our perfectly good roof. Thankfully, we were insured. In all the chaos of trying to repair the damage to the car, remove the tree, shore up the hole, and replace the garage door, there was on thing that I was sure about: We would hire Z. Ipek & Sons to replace the roof. After all, they were the contractors who wowed our inspector over a decade ago. When Omer came over to give me the estimate, he remembered putting the roof on our house. Except for the fallen tree, it was holding up very well. He was able to swing by before the insurance adjuster visited, which helped to provide me with some critical information for the adjuster. The only hard part was that we were in a race against time. Z. Ipek had a full work load, and Omer would soon be leaving for a long deserved vacation to attend a family wedding. And to make matters more complicated, our house was on the market at the time, plus we were actively in the process of moving out, with movers, a truck, and everything. Amazingly, Omer and his crew made it happen! I may have panicked a little bit when I saw the crew on the roof earlier than expected on moving day. But they had planned for the window when the moving truck needed to be in the driveway. I cannot say how Z. Ipek compares to other roofers on quality or cost. But the actual cost wasn't a penny higher than the original estimate. And they were able to execute all the work within the budget of the insurance claim. If that's not a five star roofer, I don't know what is.

Michael and Mic at Butcher Top Products are creative crafts men who pay great attention to detail,…read moreas well as the finished product. No job is too small in comparison to their beautiful gazebos, sheds and furniture. My experience- thankfully ending positively- was the result of being in a rush to finish a chaise I was constructing/upholstering; I ordered a set of legs on-line only to find them to be too large and over-hung my finished piece. Frustrated with myself for not double checking my measurements; not having the correct power tools to do anything about it; I threw them in my vehicle, while I searched for someone to trim them. As luck would have it, I happened upon Butcher Top Products on Central Avenue only days later. Mic and Michael were friendly, upfront, pre-negotiated a price and informed me of their reasonable timeline. Michael worked hard to ensure I was happy with the finished product, even going above and beyond to remove a knot in the wood of one leg/plugging it and sanding it, as well as rounding the edges of my legs for a more polished look. The job was completed on time and the results were excellent! Butcher Top Products delivers exceptional service built on outstanding work and personal integrity; I highly recommend them for you next project- no matter how large or small.

Despite the years, the shed has held up beautifully, and we've been very happy with it. Michael recommended that I seal or paint the wooden ramp that came with the shed, but I never did and the weather and my sprinkler system did a number on it over the years. We recently reached out to Michael who showed us the new upgraded ramps he's making. They're made with Trex deck boards, are heavy duty, and thankfully never need sealing or painting. Nobody else is making such high-quality ramps. We ended up buying the upgraded ramp, which Michael installed with this team. It's a significant improvement over what we had, and we know it's going to last a long time. If you're in the market for a shed and/or ramp, I highly recommend Michael and his team at Butcher Top Products.
