This school opened in 2014. I am a parent of an MHHS student. The school is at the forefront of the…read moretraditional vs. modern methods of teaching and learning. MHHS focuses on the "flipped learning" concept where student and teachers work collaboratively in the classroom. Online learning is part of this process and it has caused much controversy. From my perspective, there is a benefit in learning from new technology. Information is distributed much more quickly and students receive the latest up-to-date information. I remember being in a private school growing up and learning from traditional textbooks published 10 years ago. I wondered as a student why I was learning out-of-date material. Fast forward to today, and I find myself appreciating this school's commitment in learning from Internet platforms. Students are issued chrome books which serve as their textbooks for the year. No textbooks are issued. Good or bad? IMO, good. I don't have to worry about my student carrying luggage to school. We just worry about two things. 1) don't lose your chrome book and 2) keep the chrome book functional The downside for some parents is simply my son or daughter is on their chrome book all day. But what is the difference if they are hovering over a textbook or chrome book? There is no negative difference! I know my child is studying. I hear parents complain about the large homework volume, but I don't get this argument. Homework is part of the deal in high school and prepares kids for college or the rigors of the military. After all, high school isn't supposed to be easy. It's supposed to prepare students for what is in front of them - post high school life! My child and MHHS students benefit from "flipped learning." I went to a prominent University in my undergrad years. Professors expect you to have the ability to function on your own -- no hand holding! Papers are submitted online. Assignments are given through class and reiterated through Internet modules. Students communicate with professors in person but largely, by email! Assignments and papers are submitted through -- guess what --- email or an online platform! This is college! MHHS prepares kids for college by forcing them to be independent learners! I love this. I know my child will go through ups and downs, but by the end of high school will be more ready for the everyday common practice of college life. I've heard complaints about teachers not doing much during class time. In the first year, some teachers would refer kids to websites when class questions came up. My child's experience is this happens minimal but I'm sure there may be a percentage of teachers who may not be engaged. My hope is all MHHS teachers are involved in the learning process and infuse enthusiasm in their class. Every class depends on the direction and enthusiasm of their teacher. As a parent, I'm able to track my kids progress through Aeries. Other schools also use Aeries (or equivalent), so MHHS is using an accepted module for parents to stay in tune with their kids grades. Mr. Rexelle's music program is top-notch! They have won awards in competitions the last two years! The sports programs are developing with girls basketball leading the way with its success in the school's first two years. The track and football field is a impressive! This school has gone through growing pains, but I strongly feel the staff in place continues to steer the school in a positive direction. I know many of the teachers and administrators. They are good, caring people. I see this school getting better and better each year. With all the people moving to Mountain House, this school will be the prominent focus of this town.

I received a call late Friday afternoon notifying me that my child was no longer allowed to attend…read morethe school they were currently enrolled at. It was their mistake and instead of allowing my child to complete the full year there, they took it upon themselves to remove my child and tell me that I would not be able to get a district transfer. Please note when I viewed the TUSD elementary boundary map, my address qualifies for that school. I even came into the office during enrollment season and verified it with the staff there. I took the proper channels to ensure my child was qualified for that specific school. Not only did this stress me out, my child who was comfortable with her teacher and class, we had arrangements friends to help pick up my child is now emotional distraught to know that she has to start a brand new school that is even farther from our residence. Mind you the school we were attending was not full and had plenty of room, their reasoning to pluck my child out was to ensure all the upcoming kids in new development had a space (which i live in) The staff at TUSD is disorganized, rude and without taking responsibility of owning up to their mistake.

I've been extremely impressed with my daughter's experience at Bella Vista. It's clear that this…read moreschool truly cares about helping each child reach their full potential. The teachers and staff are wonderfully communicative and genuinely work to build strong partnerships with parents. The coursework strikes a great balance--challenging students while still ensuring they fully understand the material.

Hello everyone reading my review, I am a parent with a child at BVCA, and have been since…read morepreschool. They have told me things, and I have observed. Teacher Problem: The teachers at this school are... unprofessional to say the least. The teachers barely understand your students, and don't even try to understand when your children act out in class, I have reasons, and my friends also, but our teacher made us the bad guy. When others acted out, he blamed it on us, or just completely ignored it because they are "good" but acted more terrible than us 5. (me and my friends) They consistent call students names, and is completely unwelcome and CLEARLY do not know how to professionally teach in a class full of children. Lunch Monitors Problem: BEWARE OF MISS JOYCE. There are a few lunch ladies that DO NOT know how to do their job, including her. She treats your child like a misfit, and clearly hates children. Whatever you do, make sure your child does not interact with miss Joyce, she will just ruin their day. Administration Problem: Wow. Where do I begin? The administration is COMPLETELY unacceptable. Imagine your child is sick, and heads to the office. The admins ABSOLUTELY treat your child like they are unimportant. They welcome you with a dissapointing tone, and sound like they hate you. They question you like your just another child that's trying to fake being sick and sent home. I can understand why because most children these days are irresponsible, but children who go here aren't! They just send your child back with a dissatisfign sickness check that isn't even a check if you really think about it! Overall: If we gather all of this together, and think about how your child would be in this school, definitely do not send them. They will suffer for 8 goddamn grades.
