I took the hot Pilates class, I have prior experience and swear by hot yoga but this facility was dangerously hot. My face was still beat red for a full hour following the class. I had sat right under the pipe that steams, because I was not warned otherwise and it was the only spot left. It was a very full class. **UPDATE: My little sister felt uncomfortable with everything that went on in the studio and decided to call the owner to try to understand and see if maybe there was a big misunderstanding. The owner took absolutely no responsibility for her actions and decided to disclose information about my call log and state non factual things about me to ok her wrong doings . Which may I add is not legal. She proceeded to say she felt disrespected by me (her client) because I walked in one day at at 4:28 when class started at 4:30. While I was trying to rush into class the owner kept going back and forth with me about me going in and out. Unfortunately, this studio charges for everything so I usually bring my own weights. Due to her going back and forth I felt overwhelmed and wanted get in I decided to leave my bag and not take the weights. I'm positive that in the middle of the back and forth I made a face (I was uncomfortable) because this owner started repressing her client super loud in front of ppl. I guess from that moment on the owner had it out for me. This studio overbooks and then mistreats people when there is no space. As an owner if you felt that me arriving at 4:28 was unacceptable you should've cancelled my class and not allow me into the class. That's perfectly fine. Instead you proceeded to have a back and forth with your client. Due to this situation the owner proceeded to tell my sister that this is why she felt the need to disrespect me because she felt disrespected in front of her brother. Completely UNPROFESSIONAL. I must say I feel bullied at this point. She should have pulled me to the side to discuss any issues because I am not a nasty person and I can definitely admit to my mistakes. There are ways as an owner to address things with your clients instead of having it out for them. May I also add she did this to two other clients on Sunday. Took their reservation and didn't allow them to come into class because it was over booked. In this case it is unfortunate because we felt like since Maria is the owner to a YOGA studio maybe we could discuss what happened in a calmer manner and understand both sides she proceeded to take zero accountability for her disrespect. At this point after witnessing this owners behavior it is clear that she only cares about money and wants to walk around mistreating people because she's the "owner". Extremely distasteful. She decided to embarrass two of her clients and allow them to walk out upset. I felt like I was in the mean girls movie. Completely disregarded your clients feelings. ** She also blocked my sister from being able to talk classes in her studio. ** No need to block me because I will never step foot into a studio that does not care about people's feelings. This review is super upsetting because I NEVER LEAVE NEGATIVE REVIEWS, but in this case I felt like it was necessary. I really liked this studio, the owner is extremely disrespectful though. There are ways to speak to your clients, but this owner was completely out of line. Screaming at your clients after a class that is suppose to clear your mind is absurd. Yelling at your client in front of the whole class and may I add she yelled at my little sister who suffers from depression loves working out here and this has been the only studio where I have been able to get her to like and come to. It's extremely disheartening. I am fully aware that every studio has its rules, but there are ways to express those rules without being condescending to your client. The class ended at 10:29 we waked out at 10:30. I understand we have to respect others meditation, but we did not walk out before the class ended. I am fully aware as this is not the only studio I go to that we have to be mindful of others meditation while walking out. May I also add, the owner was taking the class as well. She proceeded to yell while my little sister was walking out disrupting everyone in the class (meditating ) and embarrassing her. It was a very mean-spirited, UNPROFESSIONAL move. The instructors here are great and I would love to continue coming here, but after today it makes it really hard to feel comfortable here. It's unfortunate bc mental health is a big deal and these studios represent clearing your mind and soul. Unfortunately, after today I'm not sure this space is for me. I walked out from this confrontation with anxiety due to the owner. Tbh I hate to leave this review bc I do like classes , but this is not the first incident I had with the owner. It would have been more appropriate if the owner would've approached this is calmer/ private manner. Instead of continually repeating her point for everyone to hear. She repeated herself 10 times. I hope this review serves as a learning experience. I am a business owner as well and I could never imagine speaking to any of my clients in this manner. read more

I'm not sure where all these recent negative reviews are coming from except it seems like someone who can't handle the heat so they decided to complain about it under a bunch of different aliases. I have been a member of Merrick Hot Yoga for years. In fact, TODAY I hit my 1,000th class! Why do I love this place? because the owner (Maria, who isn't a "new" owner by the way as mentioned in that crazy-pants negative review) and her incredible instructors have created a place of professionalism, strength, warmth, guidance and FUN! It's a safe, loving, inclusive respite from this crazy world and when I step foot in the door, I already feel my stress levels go down. Merrick Hot Yoga has become a part of my every day routine. The friends I have made, both women and men by the way, are amazing, like-minded people who exhibit the qualities of exemplary humans and are people I CHOOSE to surround myself with. Love coming to this spot! It's the only place i come to do my hot yoga classes. It's a small studio with some merchandise to buy (like towels, outfits, cold drinks), some bathrooms, changing rooms, and 2 showers. Even came during covid and they are very cautionary. When you come in you take off your shoes, sign in with the sanitizer, and get your temperature checked. You have the choice of wearing your mask during the class but in the studio itself you must wear it in other places. Class vary from hot 60 to inferno hot Pilates to hot vinyasa. The owner Maria is great and all the yogiis are amazing! Love doing classes with Maria, Kiera, Tommy, Scott and all the others! love that i can use the MINDBODY app to easily schedule my classes. The studio is really great and clean. The classes are good and challenging. Their schedule is great, as they offer early morning and night classes. However, they get a big fat zero in customer service. You would think that in this climate of limited gym services and the threat of imminent shut downs that they would be a little more respectful to their patrons. If you encounter an issue here, be prepared to be given the run-around through the chain of command, then be blatantly ignored for days and days, and then be treated with disdain. It's hard to get a hold of someone via email or telephone. I had to call eight times in one day to finally get someone on the phone. I used to love this yoga studio but got really turned off from going there when the new owner don't know her name but long black hair was so money hungry charged me to use weights for a class I already paid $38 to take and double to rent a mat bc I took two classes in a row. Who charges to use dumbbells?...money hungry people.... I asked her if I could leave the mat there after first class and she said yes but never said she would be charging double. Just took it upon herself to charge my card without saying a word. I called and left a message asking what the charges were but they never called back. I never went back after that. read more

Although I was sorely unprepared for this one hour long hot vinyasa session, they were very warm, positive and welcoming. Peter, if I'm not mistaken was informative.. to the point.. asked if I had any other questions.. which I didn't at the time, as he had covered about everything., I highly recommend this Yoga studio to anyone. My favorite hot yoga place. My oasis. I honestly loveeee coming here. It's a nice small studio but the workers are always pleasant and friendly. The teachers and the classes are great and it's always clean here. They always have a couple of classes available throughout each day to attempt to accommodate people's schedules and I love that. It's located in a shopping center so depending on the day and time it might be a bit of a challenge to find a spot but I wouldn't let that deter you. They have a store in the front where they sell a bunch of yoga stuff and clothes which is cool. They also have water and all different types of hydration options for sale. They studio has two bathrooms, changing rooms and showers for people to use. They have cubbies for you to store your things in while you're in class. Even though there's no where to lock your stuff up I've never had to worry about someone taking my things. I truly feel really comfortable here and if I had more time I would be here everyday. I would recommend this location to anyone who loves hot yoga or is looking to try it out. It's super relaxing and I love how challenging the classes are -- it does the body good. read more

Love this studio! Too bad it's a bit of a travel for me to get to but I Love that the showers each have their own room. It's a small quaint studio. The instructors are good, they demonstrate and describe the poses and I love the variety of classes they have to offer. The woman at the front desk was very nice when Registering me and then showing me around the studio. She made sure I was set before walking back to the desk. First time going to this yoga studio. Was hoping to get back into hot yoga specifically. Bought the intro week special. Went once and not returning. Took the ashtanga class on Thursday at 6pm. The instructor was rude and arrogant off the bat. Not to mention he would not stop staring at me. Every time I looked up to see what move was next he would be looking straight into my eyes. There were a bunch of other people so not like there were only a few in the class for him to focus on. Every time I looked in the mirror to correct my pose or look at others to make sure I was doing it correct, he would shout stop looking in the mirrors. Just a very uncomfortable experience and I wish I didn't buy the week pass because I am not going back. read more

I have been to a few hot yoga studios and this is one of the cleaner establishments. The decor is very welcoming and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The rates are on par with other establishements. The room is a nice size and I have never been there when it was over crowded unlike yoga to the people. Hot Yoga Merrick is one of the best places in the world. The entire staff is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and exemplifys professionalism. All of the instructors are amazing and have a different style of teaching. I take a lot of Pierce's class because he keeps the room super hot and always goes above and beyond to make newcomers or people who have been practicing feel comfortable. His Yin yoga class is unreal and feels like putting WD40 in your joints (the ones where 2 bones meet)... I bought a package of 5 for $42 (only offered to newcomers) and not only is that a great deal but I've gotten great workouts in so far. My first class was the hot vinyasa and it was awesome and relaxing. I felt great after. I also tried hot pilates and ... I would not recommend hot Pilates if: 1) you've eaten a relatively large breakfast beforehand 2) if you're sore from another workout already 3) if you don't often do cardio It gets really hot in there after a while and it may be difficult to breathe if you're not use to that type of high energy workout read more

I first came here after purchasing a Groupon a couple of years ago. I had only taken a couple of regular yoga classes and consider myself very much a beginner. I thought I was going to pass out in the first class, and I've steadily improved, although I'd still consider myself a beginner by most standards. There are a lot of things I like about this studio. All of the instructors have a different style and offer different tips to help you improve. I feel like I've learned new things from each instructor that I've taken a class with. I haven't taken classes consistently because I travel a lot for work, but I have noticed a difference in my flexibility, even when I haven't been to a class in a long time. I think the Hot 60 class is awesome because they always do the same poses so it's great to be able to see your progress, and it's also suitable for beginner to advanced levels. I have taken some of the other classes and really enjoyed them as well. I highly recommend this studio for people of all levels wanting to try hot yoga. read more

I truly didn't know what I had until I left. I moved across the country six months ago and came here to write about how much gratitude and love I still and will always have for this place. I've gone to a few studios out here in California, and I feel so lucky to have "grown up" as a yogi in Merrick, to have been "raised" for my first few years of yoga by the instructors at this location. They did not just teach the classes, they taught the students. I had no idea how much knowledge I gathered throughout my time there, and how much more they give to their students than at other locations. They actually want you to learn, grow, and become a better version of yourself; it truly matters to them that you have a positive experience and absorb the transformative energy of the practice. I could go on for days about my time there, but I just had to make public my feelings about this place in case it helps someone else walk through the door. I wish I still had that chance! They will accept you, encourage you, push you, and love you. Do yourself a favor and GO! It's possible your life will never be the same. Jumping the gun after only my first class and writing a little preview review. I have been looking to try out a new hot yoga studio, they are not abundant and this one is not toooo far from me. I initially found this place through yelp and went to their website for more information. The website is organized and extremely helpful, you can purchase classes online, sign up for classes and they even list the instructors that run each class. My class was taught by Tommy. The hot yoga here is only 60 minutes, its done at a faster pace, forgoing the rests in between each pose. The format is a little different, especially in the standing series. I always said to myself that if Hot Yoga was just an hour it would be so much easier to actually get my ass there. It's definitely tougher, and they don't skimp on the heat either, but its worth it to get out 30 minutes sooner. They also offer Vinyasa classes which are heated at 95 degrees, can't wait to try it out. If you purchase a package within your trial period, you get a 10% discount. The facilities are very clean and nice, Tommy told me they are in the process of possibly adding a smoothie bar to their new expansion. read more

Finally, a hot yoga studio that comes close to the ones in the south :) I use to do hot yoga when I was away at school in Florida. When I moved back to NY I tried a few hot yoga establishments, but they honestly made me feel as if I was apart of a cattle call. They might as well of said, "Give me your money and get out once the class is over". The instructors were more like drill sergeants. I would get yelled at if I took a sip of water outside of the pre determined "water break". That vibe was so opposite from the serene and loving instructors I encountered down south. I took Hot 60 with Pierce last week. I've been doing hot yoga for about two months now elsewhere, but I figured I'd try somewhere new. WRONG DECISION. I was not expecting the class to be as hard as it was. Another woman ended up leaving a half hour early, which I respect. Do as much as your body can handle. After class, when I went to thank Pierce for the class, he was speaking with another instructor. That is when he said "Did you see that woman that left halfway through? Like, hoooney, no." This infuriated me. The practice of yoga is supposed to be peaceful, and connecting body and spirit. How dare Pierce make fun of the woman for not being able to keep up with this high intensity work out. The facility is nice and clean but I will never return. I do not do yoga to be judged by others, ESPECIALLY the instructor. read more

Have been a member for about 9 months. I waited to post so that I had a solid experience across several classes, instructors..etc. I love this studio. Note: I've been a member of a hot Pilates studio for 3+ years which is also good. But Merrick Hot Yoga is great! Why so great you ask? 1) variety of classes 2) EXCELLENT and engaged instructors (I love them ALL but my 2 favs are Billy and Maria but all are clearly experienced and passionate ) 3) clean with nice facilities 4) instructors correct your form (which I really appreciate) . However, they will ask if you want to be corrected (let's face to some ppl don't want to be touched...understandable...for me, if I'm not doing it right ...pls fix my FORM! And they do.) Why not 5 stars? They probably should consider capping out the number of participants. Some (not all) classes get really crowded . But that's a high class problem for them. And the ppl that go there are not crazy yogi types . Normal people leading normal lives and taking 60 minutes to themselves for some awesome, challenging Hot Yoga Ok. Very disappointed in this place, I came hoping to find a new activity and purchased a package but after my class I came out to see my expensive shoes had been stolen. Extremely disappointed as they were my favorite ones and I had been reassured by staff multiple times before the class that my things were safe and there were cameras watching all of our personal items while in classes and staff that sat at the desk to also watch. Staff was extremely unhelpful as I called several times and even came back periodically throughout the week to see if anyone had returned them, I had even asked multiple times for the manager to be contacted to review security footage and received no response. Very frustrated by the whole experience and definitely will not be returning any time soon. read more

Tried this place for the first time with an unlimited monthly. Have to say - it's been a great experience. I was searching endlessly for a hot vinyasa place near Merrick that was good !! This place has definitely been wonderful. Mary's class on Saturday is SO SO good !! I recommend it to everyone. I definitely lean toward the Hot Vinyasa classes over the Hot 60.. I would love love love if they would add a class to a Hip Hop playlist like many other studios do!! My one complaint would be the lack of wipes/solution to clean the mats after class. A littttleee but weary of that because it seems super unsanitary - but other than that, I highly recommend!! read more
