The space is inviting, the people helpful, smiley, and learned in this very ancient practice made anew by the founder of this modality. This studio has such positive vibes the second you walk in! Everyone that works here and all that attend the classes are so uber friendly, caring and sincere!! I've attended multiple sessions with Dawn and one with Beverly, both are beyond encouraging and supportive no matter what level you're at. I also had a private healing session with Dawn and she helped me let so much of my tension and stress go, I felt more like myself again (just recently became a mom and had the session around 9 weeks postpartum). Andrew is the happiest and friendliest Instructor there (super positive and believes anyone can achieve their best, always cheering you on and really has a personal connection with everyone that comes to his studio). This is the best yoga studio in long island!!! The space is huge and beautifully designed for a peaceful and meditative experience. Everything is so clean and they offer a variety of classes every day, including core strengthening. They also hold a lot of different workshops each month, focused on healing, and opening the chakras. The manager, Master Dawn is actually featured in the DVD's for Dahn Yoga! She is so welcoming and helpful, and not to mention hilarious. All the instructors are very experienced and work really hard to make sure everyone leaves with a bright and happy smile on their face. Yes, you will leave there feeling wonderful inside and out BUT it is more of an indoctrination than an exercise class. It is also very time-consuming as you are forced to observe certain rituals upon entering and before exiting so what appears to be a one hour class on the schedule turns into a 90-minute commitment and it's really awkward if you come late or leave early. If people were given the option of just popping in for the class instead of having therapy thrust upon them I would have resigned even though it is expensive. I do believe they are genuinely caring people and want to help others grow, which you will, but it is intrusive, there is too much pressure and it does feel like a cult! read more

I love Dawn, Stephanie and the whole Dahn Yoga crew at East Meadow! I've practiced many types of yoga and meditation, but it's really rare to meet Instructors who really live their practice. Everyone here is incredibly knowledgable and very sincere about what they do. I always feel super pumped and happy after classes. It's funny because if I come in feeling tired, I leave feeling energized, and if I come in feeling hyper, I leave feeling calm. I don't know how they do it, but whichever way I'm off balance coming in, I leave feeling better. Dahn Yoga is way different than Hatha or other styles of yoga. It's more like a self development training, where theres workshops and retreats and lots of free special trainings at the Center. I used to be pretty anxious and always felt uneasy in new situations. Since practicing Dahn Yoga, I've completely changed my outlook on life and I'm always feeling positive and open. As I read the latest brain research and Pop Science, etc, I'm seeing more and more how scientists are just now learning the connections between the body and the brain, which Dahn Yoga has been teaching all along! This is really fun to see, because now I know that all the changes that I've been experiencing aren't just a fluke, but they're right on with modern neuroscience. Buyer beware: This is not Yoga. I purchased a package from the East Meadow location with the hopes of finding a place to de-stress and improve overall fitness. What I received was attempt to manipulate me into thinking I needed one on one "healing" and beginners classes to purge past "hurts". Candidly, Dhan Yoga if that were necessary, I would seek the care of a mental health professional. It was made clear to me that some of their employees prey on their members in order to obtain more revenue as one of the regular clients came in after a rough day and needed to talk to her "Master" who then convinced her to buy a book to "help" her cope. What really was the deciding factor in my decision to never attend again was that, at the beginning of every class I was told on by the "master" that it was imperative for me to grow only by taking these workshops that are hundreds of dollars. While I do not doubt that some people may find their inner peace there- take this review into consideration prior to buying a package and make the decision for yourself. read more

I take classes at Dahn Yoga in Austin street in Queens which is affiliated with the East Meadow location. I have been attending classes for the last 2 years, twice a week and can only speak positive. I am a happier healthier person for it. When I first found this type of yoga I was not in my right mind. I was suffering high anxiety stress, panic attacks - the medication and treatment I was getting from my psychiatrist and therapist where not alleviating my symptoms. However after all the classes where you learn to exercise, breath properly, meditate my body and mind is calmer and healthier. My heart Dr wanted to know how I had brought my heart beats to a more regular beat. All thanks to this practice. I am Catholic and in no way have they tried to impose any religious or none religious believe in me. There is no pressure but instead a lot of great teachers that care for you and support you. It is difficult for me to believe that Dahn Yoga has not gotten any negative reviews. I will try to make this brief because I donnot want to devote to much time to my sadness when I left Dahn in east meadow after a year of bittersweet experiences. The practice itself is good. Once they see you are enjoying your progress, then pressure tactics for signing up again are unacceptable with exorbitant prices that differ from person to person and sneaky language used to make you think you are getting more time for your $. For e.g. if you were willing to pay this out of network doctor so much $ to save your life, than the $ you spend here is the same difference. Also, it was "black Friday Special" last year. Today only, whip out credit card, pay $1,800 now, The Master, as they are called, "this is like getting 2 years and one year free. Upon further questtioning because I'd learned my lesson, "I asked if this deal included the year I'd already paid for or in addition to it. I was dumbfounded when she turned and said including it. This first year between my membership fee, special Shim Shum weekend Workshop ($330). Others paid more, some less, and one woman I spoke to was able to take it for free. I signed up for some 1 on 1 healing sessions at $120 a pop, She said it was a bargain; very high opinion of herself. Altho I knew this was expensive, I thought it would be beneficial at the time and to some extent they were, until I realized that this "master is not a" trained therapist" and private things that might come up were not handled in a kind, and useful manner. I am embarassed to say I spent almost $3,000 in total for membership, all the things I engaged in or bought in books, and the video with the Master herself on there (Big deal). She had the nerve to tell me "I had a $ hang up. At the end of my year, and after talking with her about everything on my mind and asking for an apology about things she did and said (she did apologize at my request), I could not trust her and never went back. I found out quite by accident through a misdirected e mail that a place called their headquarters pressures them to make a certain amt of $ per month. Beware of Dahn Yoga; don't be their next victim. They seem so sweet and kind; and the practice is good, but will are aggressive and sneaky with $ matters. There are other places just as good and less $. I am writing this now because a good friend of mine asked me about Dahn because she wanted to join with her family and I told her about my experience. Others Beware. read more
