YDC offers a clean calming experience at their studio right off of Great East Neck Road. They have a large availability of classes and styles. One class (aptly named move your yoga hips!) has you swinging your rear around the mat, the next class you're calmly practicing your pranayama breathing and belting out some ohhhmmms. Teachers and staff are non-judgemental and friendly. If you're just beginning your practice or are a hardened yogi veteran with a few years in, there's a class and environment tailored to you. Parking can prove to be a bit difficult at times (with more popular classes) if you stray away from the church lot and try not to be such a nuisance in front of residences. I'm basically a beginner, But out of the few local studios I've tried, I like the Darshana Center is West Babylon the very best! The instructors, specifically Diane and Sandra are my favorite! They are patient . I am a bit older, overweight and suffer with vertigo. I've recently discovered chair yoga with Sandra and absolutely Love it! I just wish it was offered evenings or weekends since I, like many my age, work full time. Many would benefit from this class. It's good for vertigo sufferers that aren't able to lie flat on the floor or hang our heads below our heart but still need the balance, strengthening and stretching benefits of yoga. I came here a few times. Once we came for a friend's healing circle, the other times were for yoga classes. This is definitely a reputable yoga school the minute you walk in here you get a peaceful vibe no matter what is going on. Our teacher Barbara was tough but still good and definitely reasonable and nice if we had trouble with some of the positions. I had only come from an experience with Bikram (and loved it), so I have wanted to try other forms of yoga, but was just too nervous. I saw the 10 class groupon for an amazing price so I decided to try. I live 5 minutes away, and they have plenty of evening classes that fit my work schedule. I have attended 7 out of the 10 classes so far and already signed up for 10 more. The pricing is reasonable, and I can't beat the location. I am loving the practice so far. I am a runner and it is a great balance for me. I go evenings after an afternoon run and it speeds my recovery. I have learned more about my body and how to use mind and body as one, which I have already applied to improve my running and everyday life. I have taken classes with Jeanette who is leaving, as well as Virginia's beginner yoga classes and Barbara's warm yoga. And a restorative yoga class with Matthew. They are all wonderful instructors who make it easy to follow for someone who came in knowing almost nothing about yoga and it's lingo. My only gripes so far (though I can't really compare this to another studio): The warm class I attended had only 4 students creating body heat, and it was scheduled in between 2 regular classes, so the heat is only turned up for that hour block, therefore I didn't find that the room got very warm at all. But when I returned for a class on Sunday, with more room between classes, they were able to get the temperature up. I also would like to see more evening classes offered. Or maybe slightly later classes so I can continue to regularly practice when I start my marathon training. All in all, I'm very excited to explore and advance in the practice. This is a great, welcoming place for anyone, like me, who is nervous about starting yoga. read more

The Yoga Darshana Center had been one of the greatest places I've stepped foot in. From their knowledgeable teachers to their authentic acceptance of all walks of life I am eternally grateful to have taken their 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT). Both Matt and Regina have spent years developing an amazing team of educators with incredible background in what they teach. This program goes so in depth, with so many tools and additional resources that they provide, it makes the experience above and beyond amazing. Walking out of teacher training I felt confident enough to teach. They had us demo classes many times before completing the program, in order to give constructive feedback that ensured through and progress. Their workshops and classes alike go above and beyond making yoga accessible to all through the use of props, a variety of modifications, and the invitation to to what feels good in the body rather than being injured by "looking good." I am 2 weeks out of completing my Yoga Teacher Training (RYT200) and I don't want it to end! I live 40 minutes away but it is worth the drive no matter where you are. The teachers are proficient in the sections of the program that they teach. The center is warm, inviting and friendly. My classmates have become like family and the icing on the cake is that the program is HALF of what other places charge! I am really loving this yoga studio! I came here on Yoga Day back in January where they were offering free classes. It was a great experience so I bought a Groupon deal. Every class I've been to I come out leaving relaxed and feeling great. The instructors are very welcoming to new members and have modifications for each pose. The studio offers mats, blocks, straps, and blankets. They also have a Warm Vinyasa class. I think it's great for people who want something a little less intense than Hot Yoga. Sunday's have a lot of classes throughout the day. There's such a great energy here. This is a great studio for beginners to advanced yogis. read more

I just completed the 200 hour teacher training program and it was incredible. I have to say that I didn't really know the depth of the program until halfway through. The teachers were marvelous and specifically chosen to teach the sections of the program that they specialized in. When I first learned about yoga, it was through my sister-in-law and her battle with MS. I began taking classes at YDC to help her with her disease, and ended up reaping the benefits of yoga and meditation myself. I lead a very busy life with a work schedule of 13 hours daily, and yoga helped me to manage the stress and sleepless nights. I liked that I had more energy after only a few months of practicing yoga once a week, and felt that I wanted to continue my practice.
