My garage door spring broke around 9pm on a weekday while it was closing. I immediately went to Yelp and their "projects" tab and started looking for a serviceable repair man. I put in a "request quote" along with a picture, and within minutes I had different repair companies reaching out to me. With all the different messages I was receiving I was able to filter out the best repairman for my job. One repair man gave me an estimate and stated that the size could vary so can the estimate. When I reached out to Merit Overhead Doors they gave me a flat rate of $150 with no questions asked. I knew it was just a matter of time before the springs on my garage door would break due to the added insulation weight. After a year since installing it to help keep my garage cool/warm with my mini split AC, they broke yesterday. I put out a project with pictures on yelp and I got a few quotes right away including one from Angel from Merit who came in with a flat rate quote. He had availability early the next day and quickly replaced the springs with 2 sizes up to accommodate the extra insulation weight. He also checked all the track wheels and one was about to fall off. He was able to replace that one too and also lubed up all other joints and track wheels. My other garage door had some damage too from another incident which caused the lifting arm to come off the top panel and bending the panel too. I thought I was going to need to replace the entire garage door but Angel reinforced it with a strut along the top and reattached the lifting arm. He also adjusted the motor start and stop position. He easily saved me at least $1,000 on that one. I highly recommend his work and I surely will be using his services again when new problems arise. read more
