From the inception of my contact with a sweet lady by the name of Honey my experience with Merit Moving Systems was exceptional! Honey was my initial contact and was on point with all of the information she gave me from the start. She offered some packing supplies without me asking at no expense. I had a slew of questions and she went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure I understood everything and advised me I could call her anytime and or text if I had any questions. I called and texted her quite a lot but every time she was just as sweet as the 1st time. She makes you feel as if you were talking to a family member that would put you at ease when you're not sure or understand something. Now to move on to the move and the moving crew. The crew consisted of Jose, Parka and Shawn. These guys really work well with one another and understand the concept of teamwork. Their customer service is Outstanding!! They are all very courteous, respectful, professional, and have a lot of attention to detail! I was informed every step of the way as to how they were going to do something and why. It was all about being careful, planning, not rushing and taking care of my daughter's and my belongings. My daughter's furniture is made of wood and glass, mainly glass and that her entire bedroom which consists of a vanity w/mirror, chest of drawers, 2 end tables, a jewelry case, and a dresser. The guys lined the railing with padding as you went down the stairs and put cardboard on the cement floor at the base to rest the furniture on until they had to make a U-turn and go down the other flight of stairs. There was a total of 16 steps. They gingerly and ever so carefully transported everything down and to the truck without a glitch. They packed and padded the inside of the truck as you're supposed to along with using additional padding on all of her furniture. They never wasted time and or stood around doing nothing. The only time they did was for lunch time and to take a drink of water. Any and questions my daughter or I had was answered professionally and in detail. I was in the US Marine Corps and in my 22 years my family and I have had to move many times. You would not believe what I have seen, had to correct and or notify their superiors to lodge complaints against the crew. This crew is top of the line! I am sure that the rest of the other moving crews are the same. Something for management to be very proud of. All are true professionals in every aspect of the word!! I will recommend and use them if ever needed to again!! You will not go wrong using this outfit!! A true Outstanding experience all the way around!!! read more

I don't know where to begin to explain the problems I encountered with Merit Moving Systems in Thousand Palms during a recent move. I used MMS to move from Palm Springs to a retirement home in Santa Rosa, CA a couple of months ago. I knew I would be downsizing, but I wanted to do it my way, not with the help of MMS who took it upon themselves to strip me of many of my belongings as well as damage some possessions. And then they pretty much thumbed their nose at me and said you "signed off," too bad. Under the circumstances, which were anything but pleasant, anyone would have signed off if they experienced the move I did. After 12 hours of hell and chaos (and rain) and a hefty $700 charge for a shuttle about which I was never told a thing about until they told me (in the rain on delivery day) the only way I'd get my furniture, possessions, etc. would be to agree to the $700 charge for a shuttle. You, too, would have signed off after 12 hours just to end the madness.I was charged the $700 even though I questioned the size of the van when it arrived to pick up my goods in Palm Springs. My protestations were totally ignored. My things were put in a van with two other properties I learned when the huge van arrived in Santa Rosa.. If that weren't enough, for 12 hours I endured chaos, and that was only the beginning of my troubles.. As I began to unpack (the delivery people pretty much just dropped my things off the truck in the dark,), I discovered many items did not come with me as I'd expected. Why I don't know, but I have an idea. I called and wrote MMS, listing items, as of that date, which was early on, that did not show up and was pretty much told "tough luck." I have a long list of missing items. The list grows longer daily as I discover things missing. Their attitude is it's not their problem. Finally, after a comedy of errors with a lost check, I received a paltry check which barely covered two pairs of missing shoes...I signed on with MMS because I had had a professional, seamless move from WA State to Palm Springs with United Van Lines, the parent company in 2009. But I can't say the same for my latest move - the move from hell. I could go on and on. My advice: Don't use Merit Moving Systems. read more

Recently did a cross country move with Merit moving systems (through United Van Lines) and would definitely recommend them. I received a detailed quote from Joe after a walkthrough of my apartment and negotiated down to a price I was comfortable with by removing some items I was ready to part with. The loading day went amazing with Wes, Jose and their crew taking immaculate care to wrap and load all my furniture so quickly and efficiently. I had looked into a POD and just couldn't imagine doing this myself. After seeing how many furniture pads their crew used I knew I was in good hands and all of my furniture arrived in perfect condition. So far in my unpacking of boxes the only items with even a hint of damage are items I packed hastily myself! It also helps that my driver (Wes) was the same person doing the inventory, driving the truck and then supervising the unload cross country so he was meticulous with his work seeing it through from start to end. We had the best experience I could hope for with this company! Our first dealing was with Honey! Who came to our home to give us a quote for our move. Then because we add some items and took others off she came back to make sure all our needs were filled. Next we got Alyson who to care of booking our very complex move. When I say complex I mean a dumpster fire! The people buying our home wanted a 20 day escrow. Me trying to be nice said ok. But I hadn't bought a new home and didnt know when that escrow would close. Aylson made sure to send us FRANK! THE MAN! hands down the best driver, boss and crew you could hope for. They packed and loaded our stuff, put it on a SECURE trailer and held it for us for almost 3 weeks because our escrow ran into problems. The one problem I didnt have to worry about was my stuff. I knew it was safe, secure and in Franks capable hands. When my new homes escrow closed, Frank was there with a great smile, incredible crew and made sure everything was place and put together where my wife wanted it. Alyson is a wonderful person that made me feel like I was working with family. My purse got packed by mistake and the packing crew had unloaded but they went through boxes and found my purse. Alyson kept in touch and put my mind at ease. I have to say, the entire process was smooth (the purse incident was my fault) and the unpacking was done in less than two hours. We recently hired Merit Moving Systems to relocate our office to a new location and was pleasantly surprised how efficient and careful the crew was. They were on time and got to work right away. I had a long distance move from Southern California to the east coast. I was very reluctant to use a moving service because of the extra expense, but I was very pleased that I did use this company. The movers showed up on time, were very careful about packing my property and inventorying the goods. They unpacked with equal care and as with other reviewers, I was pleasantly surprised that the estimate was more than the actual cost. I would use them again, it was much less trouble than moving myself or using a less reliable company. And the expense was about what it would have been if I had done all of the heavy lifting. We moved from Palm Desert to Wickenburg CA. First, we were very happy with Alyson explaining the process and detailed the costs that we could expect. Her communicating with us throughout the process was absolutely excellent. Our packers showed up Monday, we very professional and courteous. Most importantly it appeared that the made sure our properly was properly packed. The next day the truck and loading team came and was very efficient, professional and courteous. Our driver Sam said he would be at our new home at 8AM Wed morning. He showed up exactly at 8 and was done by 9:30. Proof in the pudding is wee had zero damages for a perfect move. Alyson, in the office was great at organizing, communicating and billing through the entire move. Finally, the movers that came out were on time, clean, professional and very kind. Merit Moving was the most organized, careful and competent movers we have ever dealt with. We received great tips from the estimator. The crews at both ends of our long distance move were incredibly efficient and kind. Every piece of furniture was well wrapped and all arrived with nothing broken, including a very heavy piano. They also had to carry much of it up a long flight of stairs. On top of that the driver, Sam, had to manuver crossing the Sierra Nevada between snow storms and timed it perfectly to get our belongings there on time.
