Douglas reached out to me with an offer of exactly what I needed: two movers to help load already-packed boxes and some furniture into a truck I rented at my pick up location, and to help unload at my destination ~50 miles away. Every other company I talked to was trying to charge me double time for the drive, even if they didn't have to use their own truck. Douglas called me later in the day to talk through logistics, and he estimated and quoted me for four hours of work with a $60 fee to get his guys back to Indio from San Diego. I thought the price was very fair and Douglas was personable and seemed trustworthy so I gave this business a chance despite their limited reviews. I'm so glad I did! Douglas sent out Theodis and Damien to help with the move, and it was the best moving experience I've ever had (and I've moved 16 times in my life). Even though the boxes were wrapped ridiculously from my move down from LA, they were very understanding and packed the truck way more efficiently than the last guys. Both men were friendly, and along with helping me with my move (up quite a few stairs at my destination), they also helped my dad move some of his stuff. Additionally, I accidentally gave Theodis $20 more than I was quoted, and he was honest about it and returned the extra. How awesome! This is the third time we have used A1, and have never been disappointed. This time, we had a huge move that took about 8-9 hours. Ozzie and Carlos were fantastic. They were expert at tetrising EVERYTHING into our 27' trailer. They were extremely courteous and FAST! Easy to deal with Douglas, the owner. I can not say enough good things about Douglas and his crew! They helped me when I needed it the most, not once but twice ! Very professional and yet kind as well. Carlos & Ozzie and Jeff & Efrin were the two -two man teams and did an excellent job in handling my belongings. There wasn't time for me to pack things like they should have been but they were careful and respectful of it all. We had some twists and turns ... like being locked in the storage property but with their quick actions we were able to get our cars out and didn't have to spend a cold Santa Clarita night sleeping in storage haha Thanks to all 5 of you guys for your respectfulness and kindness. In general they did great. However, I paid significantly extra for their "piano moving" services and they did not actually move it to my house. ANYONE could have done the little bit they did and I was extremely disappointed. I asked for half that money back and they refused. They also were unable to finish my job the original day so I had to pay for my stuff to sit on uhaul trucks for 3 days to wait for them to come back and finish. They did eventually come back and finish for extra money (except the piano) so that part ended up OK. read more

Wow. Derek and Theo arrived on time and had our condos stuff loaded in 75 minutes. They made two off loading stops with us and still completed the work early. They were polite and courteous even doing this work in the August heat of the desert. We will most certainly use A1 again and of course we'll request the same crew. Another flawless move with A-1. Was so impressed with them the 1st time with a U-haul Ubox move a few weeks ago, I contacted them again about moving antique furniture I purchased on ebay- two very heavy 90-100 year old leather sofas with intricately carved wooden arms, and two fragile coffee tables, one made of glass. Douglas, Buddy and Jerry picked up my furniture in Palm Springs and transported it to Big Bear. It was expertly packed and protected, and carefully but efficiently unloaded in short order, placed where I wanted it. Consummate gentlemen and professionals. I got these guys through U-Haul and have always had amazing luck with U-Haul recommended movers. I was NOT disappointed! These guys addressed an address mix up (not their fault) quickly and professionally. Even with the mix up they arrived on time and worked continuously until the job was done. Not ding, scratch or dent in the furniture or the house/walls. A week before the move the owner called me to ask if they could start a 7am do to the extreme heat. That was great news to me! He also checked with me the day before and right after the work was completed. The man truly cares about his customers and we found out from his employees he takes good care of them. Prior to my first move, I called A-1 Reliable Movers and was offered great advice on storage spaces for extra belongings and what size boxes I would need, etc. Douglas and his movers have moved me three times since I have moved to the desert several years ago and I must say that each and every time they have done an outstanding job.
