Very disappointing experience with Dr. Steve Smith at Thrive Pediatrics. During a visit for our…read moresick child, his bedside manner came across as rude, awkward, and insensitive. Upon entering the room he called my child the wrong name and sat down crossed his arms and was very nonverbally aggressive. As he was leaving, he made a judgmental comment about us not coming in for wellness visits and implied we shouldn't remain patients unless we did. It felt completely inappropriate during an already stressful situation. Parents deserve compassion and respect when seeking care for their children, and unfortunately that was not our experience. It's very disappointing as we've had otherwise great interactions with the nurse practitioners and other physicians at different locations. I do not recommend Dr. Smith and we will not see him again. It gives me pause to continue bringing my family to Thrive Pediatrics and I will likely not recommend this practice based on this experience.

As soon as we said that, our kids doctor (Angela Beauchaine) unfortunately was not kind or understanding at all. Immediately started fear mongering and telling me our child was going to die and told us of a patient she had that died. Also, the nurse for our children was a smoker. Could smell it all over her. You're basically telling me I'm going to k**l my children by not vaccinating right when they're a newborn but your nurse is a smoker?! Make it make sense.

My daughters have been patients of Dr. Miller's for 7 years and while we love her as our doctor…read morePrimary Health has become more interested in what they can get away with charging rather than providing quality care. Most recently my daughters came in for their annual well exam and because my teen daughter asked a question about acne during her visit, they charged us an additional $375.00 office visit on top of the well exam office visit that they billed for. We have also had problems over the last 2 years with the urgent care doctors refusing to treat ear infections and sinus infections because they don't want to prescribe antibiotics. At one point we had gone into the facility 3 times in the course of a month and a half because our daughter's ear was not getting better. Each time paying for an office visit for the same issue and having them tell us there was nothing they could do. When her ear was finally so swollen she had lost complete hearing in it they gave us antibiotics and within days the infection cleared up. By the time we finally got the treatment she needed we had a bill over $1000. Unfortunately, it looks like it's time to find another doctor and facility.

My spouse is a physician as well (another specialty) and can be quite particular about our providers, and he thinks she's wonderful. My five year old said, "She's so calm." This was during a joint well child check with two young children and me being a stressed parent wanting to touch base on a few things. Dr. Julian IS calm. She also graciously reviewed notes I had taken when our youngest was sick off and on for a few weeks. I was embarrassed because she could see my google search notes on the paper, but she didn't laugh or disregard me and took my concerns seriously. My whole family really likes her. We feel fortunate to be in her care.

We cancelled one well-baby appointment for one of our children, and a month later were sent a unkind and negative note saying they would be dropping us because of the missed appointment. They never called us to reschedule. A little after the first note, they sent an even more negative one saying we were not welcome back. Basically, they like billing our insurance for the lucrative well-baby check ups and if we miss one, they aren't interested. If you're into going to the doctor every chance to can, never need to cancel, and you've got good insurance, this is probably a great place to be. Again, nothing against Dr. Beauchaine; its the office practices that is causing the low review.
