A friend and I did a DIY white vinyl fence on my property, 25 years ago. Over time it needed a couple repairs. My first call was to Meridian Fence, as in recent years they installed two fences for me. Soil around one vinyl post had settled, making that post shorter. It has NOT been a good experience working with Meridian Fence. Unbeknownst to us, Meridian Fence subbed out our original project, and the inferior work has created an enormous headache and inconvenience. The posts were not set properly, the fence has blown over or come apart multiple times, and our double gate is dangerous, quite frankly. My wife tried to go out and fix it during a windstorm and it blew open on her and broke her glasses, and scraped up her arm. Meridian Fence offered a solution that was unacceptable that included us paying again for them to put in metal posts (not to mention metal posts are not approved by our HOA). We just want the job we paid for, which shouldn't be too much to ask! Their response time is lengthy when they do reply, the work is inferior, and if I could get our money back and work with another company, I would! Last night our gates blew over and came loose from the posts yet again, almost hitting our car that was parked in the driveway! Now we can't even let our dogs outside, and Meridian Fence can't get to it for a few weeks. This is unacceptable. read more

Our new neighbor contacted Meridian Fence to install a three rail fence on shared property line. Our neighbor has two dogs. He wanted welded wire attached to the fence. During the initial process Meridian Fence only talked to our neighbor because we had not moved in. We received an estimate from our neighbor and later from Meridian Fence. No one from Meridian Fence contact us to confirm the approval the estimate nor with a date that the fence was going to be installed. We just moved in and Meridian Fence shows up to install the fence. During the installation, we see that they are attaching the welding wire to our side of the fence. We told them the wire was to be installed on the other side (neighbors side). Meridian Fence bills us to move the wire. NO ONE said that their would be an additional charge to move it. Well, billed us to move it. We have 12 posts and 36 rails with holes (see pictures). The installers smeared caulking on the holes. Looks horrible. Further, just a FYI our neighbors are constantly having trouble with their gates. Luckily, we didn't have Meridian Fence do the rest of our fence. We are still research for a reputable fence company. We are finding that companies in Boise want the work, but the workmanship is poor - like Meridian Fence. read more

I have NEVER worked with a company as unorganized as this one. The communication is extremely slim to non existent, even coming from management which shows a lot about who they are as a business. From start to finish, our fencing job was a nightmare. Several days that led to weeks of no shows. They sub contract the labor part and those guys were nice and just trying to do their job but couldn't with the lack of materials, communication and complete run around as well. The fence wasn't properly finished for 2 months, we told them repeatedly we were not paying the balance until the fence was completed and they refused to respond but kept sending the invoice. Save yourself the headache we went through and use another company who actually cares about their customers! read more

I wanted to be fair and provide a quick update. Nate from Meridian Fence called me and came out with Jr . They walked the property and agreed the workmanship was not up to par. With Jr in charge they came out and replaced gates, fixed posts and wire and found things I did not even see. Jr personally rebuilt my gates and I must say I am now very happy with the work. It shows you that subcontracting does not always work out well. When their own crew came it was a different story. Thank you Nate for listening and standing behind your work. read more

Three stars for Meridian Fence as a company. Five stars for the fence. A shout out to their subcontractor, Canyon Fence of Idaho who built the fence. Doug and his crew were so kind and easy to communicate with. They built a beautiful fence. As far as the company Meridian Fence: I wish I had contacted Doug directly and not dealt with Meridian Fence AT ALL. We hired them twice. Each project was over 10k. You will get better customer service at Starbucks. The office manager: she rarely answers the phone, rarely returns calls, and is rarely helpful. The easy part is getting Bryant to come out and give a bid and having the fence built. After that, it's a mess. We are used to paying for 50% of a project before it begins and the remaining 50% after all the work is complete. Last year, we paid a 50% deposit on the fence AND the stain. After the fence was built, we waited weeks for it to be stained. The installers told us it's important to get the fence stained asap to protect the wood. The office gave us no timeline of staining and kept sending invoices for the remaining balance. We pushed back and said we were not paying the rest until the fence was stained and complete. At one point, Bryant said our bill was going to be sent to collections. We were beyond infuriated. We've never not paid a bill on time. We were finally contacted by the stainer, Kristin. She was lovely and did a great job on the staining. She was much more knowledgeable about stain brands and their corresponding color wheels than the info from Meridian Fence. We sent our final payment and were done. This year, I must have forgotten how irritating the communication was with this company. We needed a new fence on the other side of our property and I (mistakenly) hired them again. The same thing happened. The fence was built (another great fence by Doug & his crew!). Weeks went by with no stain on it. The only communication from Meridian Fence was to send in our final payment which we were NOT going to do. Yvonne said that the staining could not be scheduled until we sent in a 50% deposit for the stain. We already HAD paid 50% of the entire bid which INCLUDED the stain. I had to type out all the invoice numbers and show her the check amount to prove this. No apology from her or anyone at the office. Bryant simply emailed that the staining would be scheduled soon. Over a month went by. We called them frequently to check if they had scheduled the staining. They finally gave us the direct contact for the stainer. Morgan. He's a real treat. So rude and unprofessional with us. He was disgruntled we even contacted him and said they had fences from six months ago that weren't stained yet. He was so rude we told him we did not want his services. I told Meridian Fence we were cancelling the staining with them and would send in our remaining payment (adjusted for the deposit we already paid on the staining). Luckily, I still had the stainer's number from last year. Kristin (the nicest lady you'll ever meet) came the next week and did another fantastic job. I would NOT recommend Meridian Fence to anyone. Avoid these guys!! They put in a vinyl fence in my backyard and screwed up almost everything. They made the fence too short, they put it in the wrong place, and put the gate in a place where it could not open all the way. And the quality was poor. The fence posts are not straight and lean in different directions, making the gate bind when you try to close it. On top of that, the "customer service" person who answered the phone when I called to complain about this disaster was incredulous and didn't seem to know anything about fences or what could be wrong with them. I contacted Meridian Fence for two fencing projects. The person came out and measured and we discussed particulars regarding the job. When the fencing was installed the condition was less than expected and what I specifically stated that I did not want, I got. I sent an email asking for someone to come out and address the concerns that I had. He showed up the end of April and agreed to address the issues. Nobody ever came out and no correspondence was ever received until the first part of July. Seems that a two-week family vacation got in the way of the job. Bottom line, the quality of the work and the customer service is not acceptable. This company is not even worthy of receiving one star, but since that is my only choice they should consider it a gift. read more

Meridian Fence came out to look at fence replacement for my home. It's been over a month with no quote provided. I have called them multiple times and still don't have a bid. Further, no one will give me a timeline on when I can expect it. Now it is mid-July and all other fence contractors have booked up for the summer. I understand companies get busy, but if you are too busy to even provide a bid, then be honest and let people know rather than string them out and cause major delay in getting much needed work done. We recently moved into a new home in Meridian. I needed to build the fence in the backyard. Meridian Fence was recommended and we had a great experience. I have 2 dogs, so not having a fence was a major inconvenience. Jesse was very accommodating in getting our project going quickly even though they were very busy. When the fence was stained I had forgotten to cut back the grass and there were a few spots that needed touch up. Someone came out and took care of it. I felt the price was reasonable too. The quality of the vinyl materials is great, unlike the neighbors down the road whose vinyl fence slats fall out all the time. We opted for the 2 tone vinyl with 2 - 8 ft swing gates. I would not recommend Meridian Fence any more, and wish I had not made referrals for family and friends. I had them install a significant fence some years back, but now need some maintenance work on both gates and replacing some of the redwood boards (dawggie scratches). I have had issues with the gates for some time now. I am now disabled and no longer able to make repairs by myself. I initially phoned for a guesstimate, but was informed that someone had to come out for a formal estimate, which would be a waste of labor and time. I phoned back later to schedule an estimate. I was informed their minimum charge $695 labor plus any materials. Obviously - once installed, Meridian Fence fails to stand their product and continue to gouge the consumer. read more

Initially the job went well, but when I went out and reviewed all of the work, I found problems, screws and staples left in the field, they used the wrong screws to attached cross brace. They came back to fix and they still did not get it right, so we agreed to try a third time. Lack of attention to detail. They did write off the final bill, but they tried to blame me saying I had reviewed their work before they left, that was a lie. Wish I could add pictures of the work. read more
