The assistant part of facility charges you for every little thing; brushing hair, helping with shoes, guiding to diner, ect. They raise the amount of care even if not needed every 3-6 months. Since they can only raise rent 3% as law permits they add onto the care needed or not. Experience with helper aids 4 stars, experience with administration 2 stars. This facility has failed to mention that there was somebody infected with COVID-19 in the assisted living area, my great grandfather caught Covid from this facility and nobody was notified such as families and friends that it was in the assisted living area. Since he is living with my great grandmother she is now being tested and at risk for Covid along with all of their friends and neighbors in this facility. Their management is terrible and they are very unprofessional with keeping families and friends updated with information and with transparency on this subject. Gaby (a worker) was unprofessional to my great grandpa as my grandfather was leaving to the hospital for being ill which turned out to be Covid. They let my great grandma know that the price of his stay and care in the facility would increase due to this issue as he's being transferred into the ambulance truck. Who tells somebody that as they're heading out to the hospital? How heartless, apparently all they care about is the business and not their residents (our family members). I can not say enough for the staff at Pacifica. My mom was there for six years in different stages of memory care. I visited weekly and the room was clean and the caregivers loved her and cared for her as I would. They kept me updated if there was any issues and sent me pictures, video and let me facetime when I wasn't able to visit due to covid or sickness. She recently passed and as we waited for our final goodbyes, caregivers came in daily to hug and kiss my mom. They shared my tears and made my family comfortable and cared for also. I REPEAT do not!!! Do not have your family live here. Every time I went to visit my father the room was disgusting. The sheets where never changed. Poop stains on the sheets. The bathroom a mess. One time I walked in and their was a huge poop on the side of his room. Who knows how long it was there. I wouldn't doubt it could of been longer than a day. This place is understaffed and too crowded with people they can not take care of. My dad was always filthy I mean smelled REALY bad. NEVER Change his diaper let him poop anywhere he wanted. I would have to come and change my dads own diaper. That's ridiculous. When I would ask the nurse "why don't you guys shower him" they would say "he doesn't want to." Lies. My mother and I had to physically wash him ourselves once, and he was completely fine taking a shower. Not to mention when I would visit my dad he was never wearing ANY of his clothes, what happen to his clothes????? and his clothes would always be in big black bags on the side of the room. As if they never did laundry. His closet, also none of his clothes we bought him were there. If you looking for a place for your family to rot away... this is the place. Just read the reviews below. The two Yesenias up in memory care are absolutely amazing as well. And in our time of need, these people were there for us! Also, when Hospice came in, we could not be happier. I am finally able to write about the horrific treatment my loved one had at Pacifica. During the Covid lockdown last year they did not keep me informed of how they were handling the quarantine. I had to depend on what my loved one was able to share. When I did call Pacifica it was information that the front office was told to tell the families of their residents. So what really was going on? When I finally was able to visit or rather insisted on seeing my loved one in September 2020, after my loved one had a fall that resulted in forehead wound. I went to Pacifica on the housekeeping day. In my loved one's room I found the remains of rotten moldy food, expired food packages dated February 2020, excrement on the bathroom walls and black mold under the bathroom sink. My loved one has vascular dementia and could not explain the state of the room. My calls to management were met with defensive words inferring that they were not responsible for the rotten food, dirty bathroom walls and black mold. They blamed my loved one. There is an Ombudsman that can protect the vulnerable residents at assisted living facilities and I am still waiting on the result of her findings. As far as my loved one, I moved him as fast as I could to a Board and Care home. Now to the public I have a question, would you have given a 30 day notice to Pacifica, pay a penalty, pay a cleaning fee, or give them a financial donation? If you wonder why I was not able to be more present with the happenings at Pacifica it is because I am a frontline worker. I saw first hand the devastation the virus wreaked on patients and their families. The one great comfort I had during 2020 was thinking that my loved ones was safe at Pacifica. How foolish I was to believe Pacifica would be there for us. read more

Recently my Mother in law passed away. My family spent a lot of time with her at the end of her life. We as a family was able to see and hear how this horrible but pretty place was being ran. First off we want to THANK Laura the AM Caregiver whom was loved by our loved one, we appreciate all of your hard work and dedication. Second, Alicia the AM Med Tech whom was a sweetheart, informative and professional. Third, Kristin the NOC Med Tech whom was very professional, consistent and you can count on her to come in every hour to check on my Mother in law whether we was sleep or not. I would give this place a 5 stars because of these Three ONLY!! The PM shift was horrible, you can hear them playing in the hallways, laughing, cursing and eating while working. I have never seen such conduct in the workplace ever!! Briana the Med Tech was horrible she needs to be retrained. Nelson, the worst attitude and tone I have ever experienced in my life. To find out he is the RCC was concerning!! Riva Hospice was OK. Good luck to the few amazing staff they have!!!! Blanche was extremely rough and can't seem to answer when asked questions. Melissa did more talking and less working. The kitchen staff was amazing!!! At first we thought my Mother in law was just being a complainer and particular. Now, we completely understand why she complained and only wanted to deal with certain staff. I wish we would of listened. I am comforted knowing we stayed with her at the end of her life day in and day out. I can't imagine the care she would have received had we not been with her!!!! Pacifica, 99.9% of your staff need to be retrained and monitored for professionalism. As far as the rude staff you need to rethink who you hire!!! I hope things get better for this facility and we as a family wish we could give the amazing staff money they deserve because they get paid crumbs for being so amazing!! Unfortunately, the staff can't take money from family members!!! I know for a fact the Kitchen staff and three amazing ladies will do well in life. Our mom has been a resident for over a decade! She receives the very best of care here. The facility is beautiful and always clean. The staff is very helpful and will go the extra steps to see that all our needs are met. Mom loves living here and there is always something for the residents to do and to enjoy. I'm always amazed at how they cater to their residents AND the families! The staff is outstanding! When my father, was diagnosed with progressive dementia, I knew I had to make a wise, and informed choice about where he should live, while still allowing him to maintain a sense of dignity, self-respect and independence. I researched and interviewed 8 senior citizen locations in the Los Angeles area and in the Inland Empire. When I discovered Pacifica Hillsborough in Chino, CA in August of 2013, I knew that my Dad was 'home'. When you first walk in to Pacifica, you will notice the large, comfortable reception area that always has fresh hot coffee, tea, cool water and warm cookies for the residents and guests alike. The initial feeling I got was: "There is life here", because there are always happy, conversant staff members and residents everywhere. The staff made it a point to greet me by name as I came to visit my father at least 5-7 days a week.. For his safety, I elected to place my Dad in the section of the facility known as Transitions. This was the most unique feature of Pacifica, and undoubtedly the deciding factor for me when choosing this establishment. Transitions is a secured section with a large, quiet patio, individual suites for the residents, a lovely dining room and activity area. Residents in Transitions need mindful supervision, but they are also still active, engaged and are welcomed and encouraged to participte in any and all activities. I was very involved in my father's daily activities and ANY time I had a question about his medications, his care, his activities for the day, what he ate for dinner and how much, or just his general demeanor, I always received an instant, honest and comprehensive answer. The respect that Memory Care Director Lena has for her residents and their families is unsurpassed. Her integrity as a seasoned professional was conveyed on a daily basis to her congenial staff, both day and evening. Lena kept "the bar high" and was keenly aware of every detail of her unit. I would often see her remodeling an area, creating a new TV/activity room and even moving her office to a smaller space to create a larger dining room for the residents. She gave her me her cell phone number and we often communciated, as needed, by email, phone or text messages. I would often marvel at the staff that interacted with my Dad. Not just the friendly, gentle caretakers who made sure that he woke up every morning and sat at his favorite table in the dining room, but the housekeeping staff who kept hs room and clothes spotless, and even the maintenance workers who recognized him and would say hello to him by name. I appreciated the confident and competent Resident Care director Rocio Sencion, the kindness and professionalism of Tracey in the Business Office, the thoroughness of the med techs and the smiles and laughter of the ladies and gentlemen at the front desk. For more than 2 years, my Dad (and I) enjoyed the care and company of Pacifica Hillsborough. We danced together to live music in the lobby, we cheered in the theatre room during Monday Night football, and enjoyed many special conversations with our decaf Starbucks watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy on the big screen TV in his suite. Sadly, my father passed away on December 19, 2015. That was very difficult time for me, and even thugh we all understand the inevitability of death, Rocio, Lena and the many caregivers were a major source of comfort and support for me as I navigated my way through a very sad time. And when I held the memorial service for my Dad, who arrived all at once in unified support? None other than Lena and her incredible staff that so lovingly cared for my father.. Pacifica Hillsborough was like an extended family for me and my Dad. I was always 100% satisfied with his spiritual, emotional, and physical care. Eh Eh So a worker here was VERY rude. I was visiting a family member and I clearly saw one of the female servers was being very rude to her younger coworker. I don't know if she felt had seniority over her but she shouldn't feel that way seeing as she's not a manager or a boss of some sort just some rude worker. Also my mom had to ask for cups and plates to be put on the table because there were none and the rude worker once again yelled at another coworker... if you ask me she seems to have a little bit of an anger issue which should not be brought into work. The first observation, that I would like to make regarding Pacifica by Hillsborough, is that I am highly satisfied by the facility, and most appreciative of the staff. I needed to find a suitable place for my mother, late last year; and I had a very tight timetable to accomplish her relocation. During the weeks that transpired I became familiar with key staff members and was impressed how quickly they were able to refer to my mother and me by name. Ryan Lauritzen, Executive Director, effectively manages the staff. Rebecca Nava and Jennifer Heldoorn, Community Relations Directors, efficiently handle the application process. Ann Sly, Health & Wellness Director, actively co-ordinates all medical requirements and assessments. Tracey Holder, Business Office Manager, pleasantly assists in setting up financial account management. Rocio Sencion, Resident Care Director, insures that residents' specific needs are addressed. Additionally, the Dining Services Director, maintains a staff that is fully in tune with the nutritional requirement and personal attention needed by the residents. The facility is clean, bright, and offers a variety of dining options and activities for the residents. Both my mother and I are more than pleased. After onsite visits to three other similar senior living sites, I quickly determined that Pacifica was the best center, had the optimal location, and offered the most competitive price point for my requirements. Specifically, each member of the staff is competent, friendly, and approachable. They are able to provide me with information I require, and implement the necessary actions to insure that a high quality of both care and service is provided. read more

I'm updating my review (for the second time) to compliment the Pacifica staff on how they're handling this scary Coronavirus. To keep the vulnerable seniors safe, they're allowing only one visitor at a time, and the visitor must stay in the resident's room, not in the common areas. When I visited my mother this morning, I first saw Maintenance man Dan spraying disinfectant around the doors. Then I was screened, filling out some paperwork and having my temperature checked with a no contact thermometer. I noticed extra sanitizer dispensers at the elevators and at the door leading to Legacies, where my mother stays. I also noticed that the bathroom most often used by visitors had a different kind of paper towel dispenser that allowed the user to wave her hands under the machine without touching it. When I returned home, I found in my mailbox an explanation of the new procedures designed to protect my mother and her neighbors. If she survives until April 4, my mother will have been living at Pacifica for four years. While there are no good solutions for an older family member in my mother's condition (dementia, heart problem, wheelchair), Pacifica is the best solution for those who can't afford to have their family members living in their own home (my mother had lived with me for more than eighteen years, so she didn't have her own home) with round-the-clock care. read more

My dad just moved in two weeks ago and he has been very happy so far. Jennifer went out of her way to help us my dad move in quickly due to his declining health and caregiver resignation. Although this facility is beautiful the night staff in the memory care area is AWFUL!!! They don't check on patients as they don't have enough staff during the night. My father fell 4 times in one month during the night shift and was sent to the hospital one time without anyone from the facility calling us that they were taking him via ambulance to hospital. Of course they tried to cover it up and lie saying that that did call. What they neglected to realize is that all phones now have caller ID and all calls show up on recent calls and there were none. They also neglected to leave a voice mail because they said we never answered home phone and two different cell phone #s. THEY JUST LIED!!! Had enough and took my dad out of that place after he ended up in the hospital after the 4th fall. Hope people read this and pay attention to this and not take their loved ones to this facility. read more

We have been very pleased with Pacifica Senior Living in Chino. We moved my mother Sue there last July and have been impressed with the level of service that we have received for her there. The medication plan along with the nicely prepared meals have really helped mom continue to keep her independence but also gives us the peace of mind that she is getting all of her medications on a regular basis and eating well.
