The Executive staff did not provide warmth and level of confidence that care would be provided…read more When we decided to transfer my husband to another facility, instead of listening fully to our concerns (lack of care staff was number one on the list), Executive Director was defensive and immediately snapped that they would not change certain things. It's also very difficult to get responses from the executive level staff. When I put in our notice, I had to call in to make sure my email was received and it was only after that I got a response. When I was following up on my refund, I would call several times and there was no courtesy to return the calls. It took a long time to get my refund (they promised 2 weeks after walk through). I also contacted the corporate office (Cogir) to voice my concerns but my call was never returned. When I was signing my contract, Executive Director boasted of their 5-star rating. It was all talk. The facility looks very nice but quality of care, food, activities, and executive leadership were sub-par. In placing our loved ones in the hands of other people, especially in memory care, we want to be assured that the care is genuine. This should not only be about the business. There should be level of accountability and high confidence level that we made the right choice, especially that this facility is very expensive.

In the case of Oakmount of San Antonio Heights. We did the tour that really brought the Staff, Patients and facility into a light of excellence. The treatment that my Brother is receiving is far superior than the homes he was at. When he pushes his alarm they are there with smiles and concern in a way unmatched by other homes. The communication and knowledge of the staff from the receptionist, environmental Sys, Nurses, Kitchen staff, Grounds Keepers, and especially there highly qualified Maintenance staff who are incredibly prompt as was the case with Eric. We had just started moving in and i was extremely busy coordinating the move, when this young man offered to assist me with a TV that was coming the next day. And to my amazement he was there and had it hung in record time. Now i am a retired Engineer from three different hospitals and we couldn't have done that. I visit her once a month (or so) and we have gone to the resident dining maybe twenty times. From the first time I was shocked by the quality of the food. My first time I was expecting an old-school cafeteria-style food service with metal trays and food slopped onto the plate. This was completely different. The food was shockingly good, and the meal of the day (lunch) always has a soup, a main meal and a dessert. It's not overly fancy but the food in actually really tasty and they give you good size portions. The staff are very attentive and polite and the experience is a very pleasant dining experience. Today we had garden vegetable soup along with pot roast, scalloped potatoes and peas, with apple pie for dessert. The pot roast was excellent and the potatoes were exceptional. You know the food is good when the head chef/manager of food service is there talking with residents to make sure she gets feedback concerning the food that she prepared. Currently the dining area in being remodeled and should be done by the end of this year. So, the dining area currently is less then amazing, and what they can offer is limited. I'm looking forward to the new dining experience once they have their grand opening later this year.
