We viewed lots of facilities and Allara is by far, the best Senior Living in the area. From day one, the staff has been incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive. Matt Ryan and Brenda have helped make this transition so smooth and have gone out of their way to help her feel comfortable and at home. My Aunt lived in her past home for 55 years, so this transition was not going to be easy. We sold her home, and she had to downsize into a smaller place, not an easy move when your Aunt is used to living in a big home. It took a few months to settle in, but once she did, it all worked out! Moving to Allara was the best decision. Room and laundry are cleaned once a week, she has three meals a day, plus activities she can engage in with others living at Allara and most importantly, her doctors come see her and make sure she's getting medical attention when needed. It's amazing to see how happy and engaged she is -- she's made new friends, enjoys the activities, and always talks about how much she enjoys her new friends she's made. The facility itself is clean, cheerful, and full of warmth, but it's really the people who make it special. You can tell they truly care about every resident. Everytime I visit the staff is so friendly, I'm filled with gratitude seeing my Aunt smile, and I'm so happy that she lives close so that I can see her every week. They did not check her records or ask the office to confirm before acting. I filed a formal complaint with the Department of Social Services, and it was found to be substantiated of both a Type A and Type B violation. This is public record and available on the DSS website. Additionally, neither my brother nor I were notified when my mother passed away. I learned of her death two hours later when a Sheriff answered her phone when I called, which was devastating. I searched and visited many facilities prior to me choosing Mountain View Center. I visited them a couple times and was able to meet the Owner, Coordinators, the caretakers, the cook, all the helpers I just knew that they stood out far beyond any others I went to. First thing that stood out was how immaculate everything was and it smelled so fresh and clean. This was very important for me if my mom going to live here. They gave me a tour of facility and the living quarters where my mom would stay. She has her own bedroom whom she shares with a wonderful roommate. They were very careful about matching mom's roommate, so they carefully introduced my mom to a few ladies and we found the perfect one. My mom has been her for 3 years and she loves it. They even have a program where a bus picks up the residents that are able, to have fun filled days dancing, singing, doing crafts, then the bus brings them back. They are very involved with many onsite activities. They have lots of parties, holiday parties too, they bring in musicians/bands so they can dance and enjoy, bbqs, dress up..etc. I just had to share my experience with anyone looking for a place for mom or dad. Dementia again has impacted our family, my dear Auntie is suffering with this horrible disease now. You do not send your family member here to live and thrive you send them here to suffer andie. This facilities owner only cares about the financial bottom line and does not provide the care promised when you drop off your loved one 2) residents are routinely neglected and their personal hygiene is non existent ! They are not groomed daily, have their teeth brushed daily or bathed daily. Although they claim they are ! 3) the staff here has a true heart for the residents. They truly try to give the best care to them but when the owner and management does NOT provide the appropriate tools and necessities needed to provide the care expected even the best intentions fall short. 4) the building is old, dirty and unkempt. Mold, feces, bed bugs and trash riddles the floors of this facility. 5) the management and owner keep the truth from both authorities and families here. They give the run around for any question you might have of your loved ones and of any reports of negligence, abuse or violence in the facility. My dad isn't the easiest to get along with or care for so I know that La Verne Manor has their hands full. The staff has always been kind, patient, and genuinely caring with him. You can tell they treat the residents like people, not just another job. Alan is a great caregiver. He's always on shift when we visit and he's the best. Super friendly, efficient, and genuinely caring. Every time we visit, everyone is always friendly and takes the time to say hello. The facility is always clean, doesn't have that overwhelming "nursing home" feel or stinky smell, and my dad actually enjoys the food and he's super picky, which honestly surprised us. It's a huge relief knowing he's comfortable and being looked after because we're so busy with our own lives. Mike, the manager, has also been great to work with. Any time we've had a question, he's been easy to reach, always willing to help and I trust him with the decisions he makes for my dad. Sorry we bug you so much! It's never easy trusting someone else to care for a parent, but the team at La Verne Manor has made that decision a lot easier.
