Beyond great. Fantastic Latin food here in Stuart. Where do I begin? OK, Tostone cups with guac and chicharrones. A creamy bite of happiness with a crunchy pork belly finish. Follow that up with Mofongo with octopus and I really was ready to lick the plate. We finished the night with flan con caramelo. I get to eat all over the world and the best thing I've had recently is 10 minutes from my house. Our host were so gracious and we felt like family. The cheese one was really good but unfortunately the beef stuffed one could have had more flavor. It definitely needed the mayoketchup as it was also very dry. The place is cute, our lady certainly was good on service, nice, helpful and efficient. The empanadas were pretty good, the chicken was scant meat wise, the beef one was good. They were freshly fried. I had the roast pork lunch, meat was tender, seemed leftover tho; rice was plentiful, the pinto beans were diff than any I've had, then again we more Cuban than Dominican. Went to Dinner with my mom and big sis to this Dominican Restaurant in Stuart, and we will definitely be back! Mofongo, churrasco, pernil, chicharrónes, empanadas & some Flan for dessert- all was very delicious and savory. @merenguelatincuisine got it right! Such a cute place too, in the Publix shopping plaza, plenty of parking and the inside was nicely decorated. We were served by the owner, who did not hesitate to make sure all of our needs were met. The food is delicious. I really love their empanadas with the homemade hot sauce. The staff is very friendly. The restaurant itself is very clean and welcoming. The parking next to the restaurant is easy to access and is shaded by beautiful trees. Great place! Update. On Father's Day, we used Merengue for catering. We ordered roasted pork, pollo guisado, congri(black beans mixed with rice), mojo yuca, fried yucca, empanadas and flan. Everything was delicious. Our guests loved the food. The portions were big. It's my second time coming here and giving the empanadas a try. I ordered beef empanadas and they are always cold in the middle. I've order like 4 and they have all been the same both times I have come here. The first time they were almost completely frozen in the middle. They did a second batch for me but the second batch had the same issue just less cold. Also my second time there was some kind of bone or hard piece in the empanada which is weird because it's supposed to just be ground beef. I don't think I'll be back. read more

Excellent place! Service was fantastic! After a morning of hiking in Hobe Sound we felt like something substantial and flavorful for lunch. My sister in law visited this family owned restaurant a few weeks ago for lunch and highly recommended we check it out. Merengue Dominica Restaurant is located in the downtown Stuart Publix plaza where it was easy to find. The restaurant sits on the northwest corner near Palm City Road adject to Publix. The restaurant has a convenient shaded parking area and a doggy stroll area on the North side adjacent to Palm City Road. The restaurant has an exterior shaded sitting area lined with palms for privacy which also compliments the simple clean elegance of the sitting area. The tables were simply dressed with a white tablecloth and cloth napkins wrapped the spotless silverware. It reminded me of our visit to the outdoor cafes in Paris. Each table outside was complimented by a simple flower arrangement of white babies breath flowers framed by lite green ferns with miniature leaves. A minor touch that spoke volumes to the owners attention to detail. We went inside to ask if we could sit outside with our Furry baby, KC, a two year old golden retriever. The staff were very friendly, extremely gracious and welcoming to our family. We found a quiet table outside where KC could lay on the tile and drink her water. Juan, our waiter, immediately came out to check and see what we would like to start with and answer any question. Juan spoke to my husband in perfect English offering a variety of beers from the Caribbean, Santo Domingo, and South America as well as explaining the menu. As a native Spanish speaker I asked him a few questions in Spanish and a warm friendly smile lit up his face. He went on to explain that they offer a unique and irresistible selection of fresh juices that can be blended with ice, milk or yoghurt to create a delicious smoothy called "Batidos". Choosing a non alcoholic Passion Fruit juice batido, my husband, Eric, agreed it was the right choice for me, LOL. Juan thoughtfully offered to bring KC a bowl of iced water as well. We placed our order of appetizers of 2 empanadas, a chicken and a beef, with a sweet savory, dipping sauce. Their menu has offers an assortment of dishes from appetizers, salad, sandwiches, and Dominican entrees. We decided to share an lunch entree of tri-fongo. Mofongo is a purée usually of plantains, pork rinds, broth and garlic. The Tri-Fongo is a blend of 3 starches, green and sweet plantain with yuca (cassava) with a blend of crunchy pork rinds. This entree came with a generous serving of their home roasted pork sautéed onions with mojo and broth. Everything was terrific! We will be back again soon! read more

Our party of 4 dined here last night. Food, service and atmosphere were wonderful! We shared beef, chicken and cheese empanadas. Super yummy! I had the fried chicken. It was not American fried chicken (no coating) but it was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Others had salmon, Caribbean chicken and the vegetarian in our group had the avocado salad and sweet potato. They had a OK selection of beer and wine. The only downside for me was that they said their corkscrew broke and they could not open the bottle to pour the wine I ordered. We were looking for a Latin/Cuban type restaurant in the Jensen Beach or Stuart area for a late lunch when we came upon Merengue Restaurant & Catering in Stuart's Publix Plaza. I believe this space had been previously occupied by a seafood restaurant. Upon entering the Merengue Dominican Restaurant we were greeted by the staff and promptly seated. The interior was tastefully decorated in a tropical but classy décor and very clean. Their lunch menu, which contained an array of options was still available since it was before 4:00pm. My lovely wife chose the Grilled Chicken Breast with Caribbean Sauce and Grilled Onions with Black Beans and Sweet Plantains. I selected Stewed Caribbean Pork Ribs with their Rice of the Day (Yellow Rice with Red Beans) and Sweet Plantains. My wife commented that she had never had a Latin style grilled chicken breast so moist, flavorful, and tender. The stewed ribs did not disappoint either, also very moist, flavorful and tender. Our beans, rice, and plantains were also cooked to perfection and served hot. The proportions were generous, but after completing our entrees we had to sample their Flan, which was one of the best we have ever eaten. The server was very attentive, cheerful and polite. Our bill, which included two beverages, our two meals, and a shared desert totaled $40.19. We were very pleased and will definitely be back. The decor is unassuming but you not going for the decor. Don't wait you must try out this place. It's in a shopping center so plenty of parking. We called in our order and they were super friendly. New to the area, my husband and I discovered this place one day. We had to go the next day for lunch. We had the octopus salad with fried plantains, and the Cuban pork sandwich with french fries. We split both. The octopus was tender and flavorful with bits of onion and peppers, however it could use a little bit more spice but that's not a problem because they have pepper sauce. The Cuban sandwich was tasty, my only comment was the bun was huge. The young lady that served us, Blanca, was having a hard time understanding English and what we wanted. But she was pleasant, and attentive. They sent over another young lady, who promptly took our lunch order. However, there was a mixup. We wanted the octopus salad as an hors d'oeuvre, and it came out as a full meal. So if you do order, make sure you order the correct thing and they understand the correct item. While in town we will revisit this restaurant, as they had other scrumptious items on their menu. read more

Just good food. Whole real ingredients without anything over the top. It's a solid go to when you just run out of time to cook yourself.

To start it is a nice small location , not a lot of seating though. The waiter was pleasant. The wait for food was over an hour. I had the steak and onions and it was too salty. My girlfriend's rice was cold and I tried a piece of her chicken which did not sit well with my palate. The lemonade was delicious though and the yuca ball with beef was good as well. Overall, I would say the food quality is not worth the price. For two dishes, three drinks at $6.99 each (not even alcohol) and two appetizers came to almost $100. read more

Good food , very clean , nice atmosphere and great customer service. We had the empanadas and the Mofongo with Pernil ( roast pork) . Empanadas were very great and seasoned well. The Mofongo was good, but my only critique would be more garlic and the pork rinds inside were not crunchy, but the flavor was good - (coming from a " Boricua "). The pork was tender and delicious. Absolutely delicious!! We went to the restaurant Saturday night with another couple for the first time and we will definitely be back soon. From the moment we walked in we felt special. It is a family run business and they made us feel like we were at their home. We started with the homemade chicken and beef empanadas Dominican style and of course a bottle of wine. Three of us had the garlic shrimp with mofongo. If you have never tried mofongo go for it. It is mashed fried green plantains with a Caribbean flavor to it in a delicious broth. Our other friend had mofongo with churrasco. Excellent as well. Everything is made to order. We can't wait to try some other dishes. Such a unique menu and a welcome addition to our area.
