Since my first review (when I had only been a couple of times) I've had the need to go back to Stitch Express loads. Trousers adjusted, buttons replaced, dry cleaning, button holes made, shirts fixed; you name it, I've had it done. Every time I've been the service, quality and price has been impeccable with all alterations made well within the time promised. Often for smaller fixes and patch jobs they'll do them whilst you wait - who can complain about paying £1 to have a button replaced?! Good job this place exists or I'd look like a regular modern day ragamuffin. If you're on the Haymarket side of town and need some clothes adjust then make a bee line for Stitch Express. Or I'll punch you.

Most people have left good reviews about these guys but I actually didn't have a great experience…read more They are really friendly but I took my wedding dress into them to get altered and when i got it back there was a bleached stain under the arm pit. Luckily nobody will see it because of where it is but still, it wasn't there before. Also the first time I went to pick it up it was as if they didn't do anything to it. They said that there was a problem with the lining and fixed that (I hadn't noticed a problem with it) but I needed it taken in and it was still really big on me. I've ended up taking it in myself. Honestly don't go there. There's far better tailors in Edinburgh more expensive but worth it, especially of it's your wedding dress.

Situated in the Newington area of Edinburgh, Euroclean Dry Cleaning is very central and a convenient place to reach. It is just a short walk from the first year halls of residence, Pollock Halls, and so it is a terribly handy place for students to go to get nasty stains out of their clothes. I have been to this store several times over the years to dry clean my jackets and some skirts which can't be put through the wash, and I have received excellent service with every visit. The prices are incredibly reasonable and pretty competitive, with it costing £16 to dry clean 2 suits - what a bargain! Euroclean Dry Cleaning also offer a FREE pick up and delivery service which is handy and you don't have to actually go to the store to get your clothes cleaned. As well as suits and clothes, they also do carpet and curtain cleaning. A great place to go to get your clothes perfectly clean.

Having only used this place once, I can only really comment on their tailoring skills…read more I'm a funny one with clothes, I like what I like and I tend to wear it until it falls apart. Imagine my distress then when my favourite pair of jeans which I picked up in Texas last year developed two gaping holes IN THE CROTCH! Fearing the worst and that they'd have to be retired to that great denim factory in the sky I was about to throw them out when my flatmate suggested I take them to the Executive Dry Cleaners just a couple of minutes from our apartment. The business itself is tiny and there's not much room for manoeuvre once you're in there, but hey who cares about that right? We're all about QUALITY and SALES and STUFF. The staff were very friendly and reassuring about my almost ruined jeans. The repair job cost £8 - a fair sight cheaper than a new pair of jeans would have cost me. I was a little surprised by the lead time on the patch job (four days) but perhaps that's because I've been spoiled by the quick turnaround times of tailors in the past. As for the actual quality of the patch job... Well I don't exactly know what I was expecting - I mean it's held up well in the two months since it was done and they've tried to make it look at least a little interesting (square spiral thread) but it's still quite obvious that there was a giant hole. In my crotch. Would I go back? Well I did go in a second time to ask if they could add a button and a button hole to a shirt - to which they replied that they couldn't without special machinery that they knew the tailors over the road (Stitch Express) had. It was good of them to offer a recommendation of an alternative service but I question the benefit of it for them as Stitch Express have proven to be better tailors (see my other review) So as I said at the beginning, all that is just regarding their tailoring service and their dry cleaning skills might be exceptional - after all my flatmate does use them for dry cleaning and seems to be pleased enough with their service to go back regularly. It's a shame then that I wouldn't recommend using these guys purely because there's a better option right over the street.

So here comes my 2nd visit for my partner's puff jacket: handing it over on Wednesday, getting a ticket for £12, collection arranged for Saturday. I walk in today, handing over the ticket, same lady that served me on Wednesday, walks back to find the jacket (code was not enough - I had to mention that it's a puff jacket), and I look up and see the full catalogue: puff jacket's dry cleaning is only £10, and only if you want an express service you pay £12. So I politely ask the lady when she's back: is the catalogue up there up-to-date? She replies, yes, and I reply: then why am I paying £12 rather than 10? It's not considered express after two-three days right? The voice tone was then a bit lower and I didn't bother asking her to repeat, as I knew I was right in this instance: £10 it is, and she agreed that I was right. This is kind of unacceptable for a business not to charge what the catalogue says, it feels like cheating - I'm sure that not everyone has the time to check the catalogue although they should. I'll be looking for an alternative place next time I need a dry cleaner.

Another occasion where laziness trumps Yelp reviews. Newtown Cleaners, like most of my Lazy Gal's…read moreBible entries, is right around the corner from my house. Now there are a few dry cleaners in the area, but no reviews to be had in Stockbridge. So when I dropped off my winter coat to be cleaned, I was pretty apprehensive (honestly, how did we all function and choose places before we could snoop them online?!). The extremely reasonable price tag of £10 for a large wool coat left me more so - this was either going to be really great or really really horrible. They advertise same day, but I wasn't in a rush so when I dropped it off on Wednesday, I scheduled a Friday morning pick up. Today was that Friday morning and over coffee & breakfast, I decided to check out what the rest of the internet (outside the Yelpdom) had to say. ... wrong decision. There are some major horror stories about this store and its partner floating around there on the web and I walked to the store thinking "please not have lost my coat... please not have lost my coat" as it was the most referenced issue. Thankfully, there was absolutely nothing to be worried about. The coat was in quite a state when I left it on Wednesday, not to mention had a cats worth of cat hair on it. I picked it up today and it looks lovely. The price was right. The coat was ready (and not lost). The service was pleasant. I will definitely be back to this place... especially since seeing how reasonable their prices are. Moral of the story? Don't judge a business under ten reviews by its cover. There are times where if too few have wandered through the door, it may not paint the clearest picture (yet!), so be a smartie and use your brain tool. It was a good reminder that every review helps Lazy Gals everywhere find reliable spots. I got you lazy comrades! Yelp on!
