Great experience. It took about 2 hours from the drop off time for the laundry to be done. We were able to relax inside on the couch and enjoy the company of the Scottish Terriers while sipping the coffee we ordered inside the business. The prices were reasonable. I really wanted to give this place a 1 BUT... I thought long and hard and realized every family has one of these and you can't pick and choose your parents. With that said, if you need to do laundry in Edinburgh, this place does the trick. 19 pounds per loud for a wash and dry, IMO a bit pricey considering you need to do your own folding, but it's the only place around.The owner Finlay, is a really nice hard working guy. The place is adorable, A cute coffee shop with wifi while you wait. I didn't stick around for coffee, Finlays dad scared me off. Not really, he was harmless, just opinionated. I label him a 2023 Archie Bunker. In less than 2 minutes he managed to zing me with American politics from a few years ago. I thought I left the states not to hear about politics, yet I got it tenfold, from someone one who had no clue and it was way past its prime. Quite humorous, but sad in a racist, ignorant way. read more

We were able to drop our clothes off to get washed then pick it up later. The guy that works there is super kind and helpful. This was a great find! We needed to do laundry in Edinburgh and read about this place. The Natural Foods Cafe is on the first floor so you can snack and drink coffee/tea. The laundry is downstairs. You leave your load and they wash and dry it for you for 22 pounds per load. Takes a couple hours. And they have three lovely Scottie's to entertain you! They did a great job. Much better although more expensive than doing it ourselves but the convenience was absolutely worth it. I wish every place we visited had this service. Hotels and dry cleaners charge ridiculous prices per clothing item so we appreciated the set price per load. read more

Great cafe with laundry service, and friendly owners. The owner of the shop has a great sense of humor and had me laughing while waiting for my laundry. The Scottish Terriers were a great distraction and very mellow dogs. So the price comes down to how many loads of laundry you need done. For £20 we were able to have a large load of laundry washed and dried. It is a little pricey but when you're traveling from country to country it's nice to be able to drop your laundry off and in a few hours later pick up clean clothes. This isn't a coin operated laundromat, they wash and dry for you. The only thing they don't do is fold but that wasn't a big deal to us. There's also a coffee shop on site which I thought was ingenious. read more

Pricy. 48 pounds for 2 loads. They don't fold the laundry for you. Simply wash and dry. However, if you just need clean clothes and don't want to sit around, and you can afford it, then this is your place. Very friendly employees. They only have 2 washers and 2 dryers. We dropped off our laundry at around noon. We were told it would take about 4.5 hours. So we explored the interesting neighborhood. There is a coin op laundry across the street if that's more to your liking. read more

Friendly service and good option for doing laundry when in town. See if advantage with the place is you do not have to wait for your laundry to finish washing in order to put it in the dryer. The friendly people who work there will handle that transfer for you. The cost includes detergent, softener, and any stain remover, I also liked that. What a handy service. We travelled through Edinburgh on a three week tour of the UK. We found this place on google. Highly recommend if you need some laundry done. They don't fold it, but will wash and dry it and then leave it in a basket for you to fold. We went off and did some sight seeing and returned later to fold and collect. We were in a serious jam needing our clothes washed in a hurry as we didn't have a lot of time. We were in the middle of a two week trip and all our clothes were dirty. They were the only place we could find open at 4 PM on a Sunday to get our clothes washed. The staff here was exceptional and very helpful. With their open hours and excellent service is why I gave it 5 stars. The place itself isn't fancy so if that's what you're looking for this isn't it. What a great experience! Sunday was the only day we had time during our trip to do laundry...after lots of looking around, we found Laundry Kafe had great hours and was a short trip to get there. Finlay helped us get our stuff washed and dried, we folded and were out of there in about 2 hours! I've been traveling for several weeks and made two stops into Laundry Kafe. It's a cute little place and very comfortable to hang out while the was is being done. The coffee was good as well! Eclectic laundromat and cafe with a nice owner. Laundromat is downstairs in a sort of dingy basement. Owner does your wash and puts in the dryer for you. You fold it yourself. Cost 23 GBP with detergent. We went next door to a small Korean eatery while our wash was being done. Went back to the laundry and had a nice chat with a local gent. The establishment's dad came in and went off about US politics and the horrors of living in Florida (our state). Kinda put a negative on what, otherwise, was a nice experience. read more

Worst experience, took 2 loads, it looked like they washed together, dried together and put in 1 basket. We wrongfully assumed they would fold and place in 2 baskets.. wrong and for $40 you expect a bit more. To make matters worse the charged us when we dropped it off, my wife picked it up and they charged her again. We did get that portion refunded. They saw tourists coming. Very happy with our experience. For a little less than $25 USD we dropped off our one load and came back several hours later to pick up. No folding, so if you're fussy that might bother you, but we aren't, just wanted to have some clean clothes again, lol. Through a tour package, we recently traveled to Scotland and Ireland for a two-week adventure. With restrictions, we found ourselves with limited size of luggage which in turn limited the amount of clothing we could bring with us. Of course, midway through our travels we found ourselves in Edinburgh and running very low on clean clothes and desperate for laundry services . LAUNDRY KAFE IS AN OASIS! This is a quaint shop that both has a laundry service as well as coffee cafe' service. First and foremost, the atmosphere is welcoming, clean, and comfortable. The owner was very engaging, polite and just a great person to interact with... and a Star Wars fan. The laundry service was just what we needed. Price is per basket load, and included detergent, softener, wash and dry. HOWEVER, they do NOT separate clothing and they do NOT fold laundry. But they do place laundry in the wash as well as place the laundry in the dryer. All you have to do is relax in between dropping off your laundry and picking it. As mentioned, this is also a cafe' (Kafe') which has free wifi if you choose to wait there. Of course, there are also plenty of little pubs to visit as you wait. Bottom line. If you're in Edinburgh and need laundry cleaned this IS the place to go and the service to use!!! read more

This place is a life saver!!! We arrived from Manchester and needed clean clothes. We arrived around 1:45 pm and were able to get a machine. Our hotel check in was 3pm so it was perfect. We were told we can pick up anytime before 7:30pm. We decided to wait and our clothes were washed and dried by 3:20 pm. I think it was the owner's son, he was super nice, friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend if you're backpacking, arrive early so you can pick up clothes same day. read more

Friendly and convenient location near old town and the university to do laundry. Laundry soap is part of the charge so you don't need to bring your own. I was in and out in 90 minutes and had time to grab breakfast at a cafe down the street while I waited for the wash to finish. read more

We used the Laundry Kafe on a recent stop in Edinburgh. We were grateful to find laundry service. It's a bit costly but they handle the wash and dry so we were able to duck out for some dinner while our laundry ran. It's best to be back when the clothes come out of the dryer though because you have to fold everything before it wrinkles too badly. This place is an absolute blessing. i highly highly recommend it. I am on an almost month long Holiday and desperately needed some laundry done. We stopped in and spoke with Finlay (who I believe is the owner) it was 19 pounds for my load which was a pretty large load. Finlay was caring, respectful, and explained everything to me. My items would be done drying in about an hour and twenty minutes. We chose to go grab an adult beverage and then come back. Which our items were almost done upon our return but not quite done. sEo we had a pot of tea. Despite my embarrassing slip up of calling the tea from the wrong origin, Finlay still helped me and had some good humor with it all.
