Today it was my second - and last - visit in this dry cleaners, I think: first time everything was ok, I had a suit dry cleaned, nice and tidy, I hadn't checked the cost in advance - busy place, as I walk past it almost every day.
So here comes my 2nd visit for my partner's puff jacket: handing it over on Wednesday, getting a ticket for £12, collection arranged for Saturday. I walk in today, handing over the ticket, same lady that served me on Wednesday, walks back to find the jacket (code was not enough - I had to mention that it's a puff jacket), and I look up and see the full catalogue: puff jacket's dry cleaning is only £10, and only if you want an express service you pay £12.
So I politely ask the lady when she's back: is the catalogue up there up-to-date? She replies, yes, and I reply: then why am I paying £12 rather than 10? It's not considered express after two-three days right?
The voice tone was then a bit lower and I didn't bother asking her to repeat, as I knew I was right in this instance: £10 it is, and she agreed that I was right.
This is kind of unacceptable for a business not to charge what the catalogue says, it feels like cheating - I'm sure that not everyone has the time to check the catalogue although they should.
I'll be looking for an alternative place next time I need a dry cleaner. read more
