Mercantile 37: Noblesville, IN Wheeler's Cafe & Market

Love their sandwiches, ambiance and variety of drinks (from water & variety milks to coffee and mixed drinks!) THIS is what you'll encounter: patio seating also indoor seating Mercantile merch of all sorts (Hand crafted items to clothing & customs) Small farmer's grocery (Meats, jams, fresh produce -in season) And a feel good atmosphere in which to sit down and enjoy convos over drinks or a sandwich (all served with their home made potato chips and a dill pickle spear)! For kids of all ages! And...if LIV happens to be your cashier --she's AMAZING!

What a beautiful place. I came in wanting to check out the decor and furniture. The quality is wonderful. The custom made bar stools and tables are ones that would be passed down for generations. The parking lot is large and you can tell they must get really busy. There is a wonderful cafe. You order at the counter. Coffee and sandwiches seem to be the big sellers. There are several picnic tables outside to eat at or you can eat in the cafe.

This epitomizes country hospitality with friendly service, generous portions, and kind customers. The store offers interesting wares and repurposed historic items. Take a back road to this beautiful and historic building. Worth a visit!

Mercantile 37, is a family run studio and showroom that sits just off SR 37 about 15 minutes north of Noblesville in an 80 yr old historic building. Originally an inn then a restaurant called "Wheelers", which is also the name of the onsite Cafe, it houses custom made tables / furniture, lighting fixtures and pottery made by owner father and son duo JR and Nick. It is full of vintage, rustic industrial and modern homegoods. Everything about M37 boasts customer service, quality craftsmanship and supporting local, including local fresh ingredients for the Cafe and with dozens of local artesians making custom home goods, gifts and decor such as candles, wall art, jewelry on display as well. Worth the trip and plenty of onsite parking. Note: Hours of operation are Tues by appointment only Wed-Thur 9am-5pm Fri -Sat 9am-6pm Sun-Mon Closed

Ya know when someone says located in BFE or Timbuktu? Well, that perfectly sums up the location of Mercantile 37. It looks as if this historical brick building sprung up out of the middle of a corn field in rural Indiana. Located technically in Atlanta, IN but across the street from the Noblesville border, Mercantile 37 is charmingly Indiana's own version of HGTV's Fixer Upper's Magnolia store in Texas. First off, I'm so glad they restored this beautiful brick building clearly was a labor of love. Part of the establishment serves as a café while the other two sections serve as a workspace and local artisan and home decor store. In the Wheeler Cafe you'll find Hoosier roasted coffee beans and espresso drinks along with local doughnuts (Rebellion Doughnuts), baked goods, breakfast and lunch sandwiches. The café also features dozens of locally made products including Popsicles, meats, cheeses, produce, and artisan goods like jams and desserts. You can find seating both inside and outside along with Wi-Fi. I look forward to future visits with my laptop working the afternoon away. In the two-story store you will find more than 70 Hoosier artisans' products ranging from goat milk lotion and tea towels to restored wooden beams and felt flowers. On the back wall they display the names and photos of all of the makers represented under one roof. I was also impressed by their large collection of Indiana made spirits for sale. During our Saturday visit in March this place was bustling with almost every parking spot in the large gravel lot filled. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly and hospitable. We were planning our return visit before we even pulled out of the driveway.

I haven't been inside this building since I was a teenager. The diner closed when I was 17, so I have been really excited to check out the new business located here. It was definitely worth the stop. They carry a little bit of everything, from upcycled items, handmade art, neon signs, handmade bath products and more. Everything seems to be from local artisans, which I really love. There's a lot to look at, as even the upstairs has some really neat stuff. There's a cafe of sorts in the back that also carries fresh, local produce and eggs and such.

Yes, Mercantile 37 is kind of in the middle of nowhere on State Road 37 up past Noblesville. But it is SO worth the drive! This used to be a diner and truck stop back in the day, and the father/son owner team have reimagined it as a shop featuring goods from more than 50 Hoosier artisans. Think soaps, wall decor, pillows, calligraphy prints, etc. Basically, the perfect place to find a gift. They also have a custom woodworking shop with sample product upstairs - and it is SO. COOL. Barn doors, refurbished farm tables - they can basically do anything. The best part? Within Mercantile 37 is Wheeler's Cafe, open for breakfast and lunch serving coffee, Rebellion Doughnuts and sandwiches. There's also a small marketplace area with locally-sourced produce and food. TL;DR: go here!

I'm pretty sure if you look up the word "oasis", a picture of Mercantile 37 has to be nearby. A friend who lives in Marion invited me to meet him halfway from Indy for breakfast. After driving through about 25min of what felt like a Midwest soy field loop this little gem popped up out of nowhere! What a gem it is too! I got the egg and turkey bagel with bacon jam...yes...BACON FREAKIN' JAM!!! It was delicious! I also ordered the blackberry mocha which was equally indulgent! It's probably gone through some aesthetic updates, which created a nice industrial vibe, but it still feels very much grounded and in touch with the community it embraces (all the way to the naming of drinks on the menu). There is somewhere in the middle of nowhere worth visiting. It's called Mercantile 37!

    Delicious snack in Wheeler's Cafe.

We stopped into Mercantile 37 today after visiting Strawtown Koteewi Park. I hadn't been in for perhaps a year. This was the first visit for my husband and stepkids and they were all very impressed with the selection and presentation of all of the local artists goods. After a quick peek at the goods we had a soda and chocolate chip cookie in in Wheeler's Cafe. The cookies were delicious and I really enjoyed my black cherry soda (I've included a picture). After our snack we took in all the great items in the shop; I'm posting several pictures.

On the eastern edge of Hamilton County (where SRs 37 & 13 split) is a two story shop filled with local artisan products, picker finds that the owner has gathered (mostly locally), and custom furniture/items upstairs. The shop is filled with items you might consider for your home decor. I found ceramics, light fixtures, wall hangings, items with clever and sentimental writings upon them, and an assortment of knick knacks. I also found candles, artisan food products, and jewelry. Upstairs, there was a pool room with a restored pool table and lots of accessories for decorating a similar space in your own home. I also found decoys, neon signs, and some antique/farm style items. The counter with the staff is in the back corner so you are free to browse around the store, both up and down at leisure. Although I didn't buy anything on this visit, I could see it as a place for folks in the area to check out for local products or items for a home that has a more rustic decor. Review #3601

Make the drive for your next shopping day and stay for lunch. Although, I'd probably leave the kids at home for this one. I loved looking at all the different items. Many local artisans that I already knew and some new ones. Lots of big signs and home decor. My favorite was the second floor where you could design items for your home. Salvaged barn wood and hand crafted items to create something uniquely you. The cafe was full of a variety of food options as well.

Enjoyed some excellent coffee at this rural stop when traveling north. Everything is newly renovated but still a ton of history - some of the tables inside look like the originals from 1940.

I was very disappointed after an hour drive in the middle of nowhere. I expected it to be much much bigger. According to the webpage the last Saturday of June, July and August there was suppose to be music, hotdogs and a party atmosphere. Maybe we were there too early in the day. No music, no hotdogs, no party atmosphere. I saw no Antiques. Everything is New Vintage, Retro, New castings from old molds, or new items- like jewelry and soap. Very hipster, trendy, country, steampunk. I did love the huge Edison Bulbs. The new furniture from old wood was pretty but very style specific. If your taste runs to the more traditional classic elegance...in my opinion this is probably not the place for you.
