The manager was not here when we arrived at 5:00 pm and was unavailable by phone. It would have been nice to be able to talk to someone because this is kind of a remote area, no cell service and the wifi didn't work, so how could we know what's available around here? There were ants everywhere in the room, though I'm sure that's not normal for this place. The yard was nice (though showing some neglect), but we weren't sure where it was ok to sit and relax because -- again -- the management wasn't available. The ice machine was broken. This is the second year we have used Birds Nest for our annual float trip. We like Birds Nest for 3…read moremain reasons: 1. The people are friendly and efficient. 2. They are flexible when the size of your group changes. They ask you for a deposit of 1/2 of what you approximate your group to be, and then when you arrive, you pay the remaining for who actually showed up. It is a flat rate per person, not per size of boat and number of boats like at neighboring float trip places. This makes for easy planning. 3. The float is about 4-6 hours, depending on water level and how many times you stop. There is an AMAZING cold spring and cave about 1/4 of the way through the trip that is a must-stop. We will likely return to Birds Nest.

Couple hours later my wife is barged in on by the manager and told that there's only supposed to be one person in the room. They do not allow "white whoXXs" in their hotel. That she needed to get her shxx out and while she was at it take mine as well. Once I showed up and confronted her she back peddled of course. I asked her "wouldn't the proper course of action be to tell me there was a charge for additional guest and not speak to my wife using racial and derogatory names?" I say racial because the manager was of a different decent than Caucasian. I would hate to see anyone support a business that was ran that way
