We fostered with them years ago and just got declined to adopt a cat after a foster explained they would only let the cat go in a pair. This is really funny because I have had a concierge vet for my pets in the past and have a well off home to bring a cat into. Highly recommend you steer clear! The review is for management. There are 5 star fosters and event coordinators who do everything they can in the best interest of the cats, but the people who work in the office are deficient in their medical knowledge, and have no sense of accountability. This is my experience, I am not speaking for anyone else. The cats in this rescue deserve to be adopted, but make sure you take full advantage of the trial period to hold them accountable for anything going on with a cat you adopt. If you do adopt a cat who has a pre-existing issue, know that the foster likely asked for assistance resolving it, it was downplayed, and they did what they could within their means to fix the issue. I spent over $3000 on medical necessities due to lack of support. I fostered with Meoowz for over 2 years, close to 70 or so cats. The families who have adopted my fosters have all been wonderful, and I am happy to have helped so many lives through this rescue. When a foster developed a serious health concern, often my message was ignored, or I was told to use a shortcut to deal with it (putting bleach on their skin). Arika Kidman, who is in charge of making medical decisions, has no medical training/experience. I have a picture of a dead panleuk positive cat in an open container on the counter used to vaccinate and weigh fragile kittens. They do not follow basic sanitation guidelines. I work in the forensic health care sector, I have a clinical doctorate, and my job is to evaluate the course of specific disease processes and determine the most likely etiology, so I have some credibility. I have texts from their president asking me to cover half (and front the rest) an oral surgery my foster needed, after a tumour was discovered during a private pay dental cleaning. I paid because I expressed twice to Arika and the president that my foster needed oral care due to foul breath and patchy coat. My concerns were disregarded. When I informed Arika they found a tumor, she responded with a single emoji. That same foster also developed FIP which requires an 84 day treatment course. I received my first week of medication from the office. When I followed up for the second week, they were short, so they referred me to an individual named Tessa who insisted it would be easier for her to mail the medication to me. She forgot to mail it, but FIP can be deadly and if there is a lapse in medication you have to start the entire course over. Because it was urgent, I ordered the medication and continued to do so because of Meoowz's history of being unreliable. What finally ended our working relationship was management essentially telling a concerned adopter that a kitten's pre-existing loose stool was never brought to their attention and he shouldn't have been put up for adoption. Not only did I ask for medical testing for the group of kittens who had months long GI issues despite deworming, they only agreed to test one of them (but not all), then their vet stated they didn't have authorisation to perform the fecal test, so I ended up paying for that too to ensure it was done. The test was negative, and the vet simply recommended a bland diet with probiotics until their guts healed. I relayed this information to Meoowz. A food sensitivity is not considered being "sick", and there was no indication from their vet Dr. Koch or Meoowz that any treatment was necessary. I spoke to several people in Meoowz about the best course of action and was told if someone was interested in adopting one of these kittens with GI issues, I would tell them the history, provide them with samples of their special diet and probiotics (which I paid for) and that they should follow up with the rescue during their trial if they had any questions or concerns about it. Several were adopted, adopters were aware of their history and special diet, and I let Arika know at least one adopter would be asking for medication. Meoowz doubled down on the accusation that I withheld information from the adopter despite others being present during the adoption to verify it was disclosed. They told the adopter I breached protocol which is a lie to avoid accountability. Judy repeatedly tells me Meoowz "would have" paid for these vet visits but when I challenged her to refund me, she refused, despite having gone to their partner vet. When illness swept through my fosters, killing 5, I told them their symptoms were vomiting, diarrhoea and some had seizures, nystagmus, and jaundice. The responses were "probably fading kitten syndrome", then "sorry for your loss", then nothing. They never offered medical care for the survivors. I paid to take one to the ER. The president once said (regarding other kittens she was upset she had to take home and care for) "if they die so be it". Others may not speak up publicly because it may negatively impact the cats if people don't adopt from this organisation. I think the risk is necessary for management to realise they will be held accountable. read more

This is a long overdue review for this place - my girlfriend and I adopted a young adult cat from this rescue a year ago and the experience after adopting was a huge headache (especially for my girlfriend). There were two ladies who helped us that day - Karen & another lady I cannot remember the name of. They were sweet ladies that were very friendly with letting us see the cats outside of their cages. They mostly had knowledge of the cats they took care of themselves so they tried their best to answer your questions about the cats. The cat we ended up adopting was named Daffney at the time - she was super confident and loved people which was accurate to her description. But the foster told us information that turned to be false after we took her home. The foster noted Daffney did NOT like to play and just wanted lap time - but after a few weeks we noticed she loooved to play with the wand toy. The rescue did not tell us that the cat had fleas and worms when we first adopted her. We had to go through the process of getting her healthy again which was very sad to see since Daffney was losing fur around her ears from excessive scratching. My girlfriend would reach out to the rescue's email about when the microchip would get registered to us and eventually they just stopped responding to us...until MONTHS later suddenly her chip got updated. We did not like our experience with this rescue and after seeing other reviews we can agree this organization is not that great with responding. But we are very happy with our cat and happy to give her a nice warm & loving home. The rescue were the ones who suggested us Daffney because the original cat we considered was already adopted. We are happy to have saved a cat's life from the rescue but we cannot recommend the rescue itself. Hope the kitties here can find loving homes. read more

I have fostered over 300 cats and kittens for MeoowzresQ over six years. I have run adoption events in Irvine, Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach. The rescue's policy was always to place HEALTHY kittens. The adopter got a voucher for a free vet exam. If a health issue existed, MeoowzresQ provided meds or vet care, or offered to take back the kitty. While I cannot answer for the behavior of volunteering individuals at other events, I never forced somebody to take two kittens but recommended it because it is better for kittens. There were also cases where certain kittens were bonded and it was made clear from the start that they needed to go together. There will always be people who complain. Update! After the $1500+ spent for tests and treatment for 3 different worms, enlarged heart, fleas, herpes virus, upper respiratory illness, and being very underweight, he's finally doing well. His "complete medical history" provided said NOTHING! The personality card was completely wrong, and not once did they review our application, or even follow up with us. The fact that they don't test for anything indicates this kitty wasn't fostered, most likely kept in shelter like conditions. Many fosters have their own cats and I can't imagine taking in a kitty without testing to prevent another personal cat from getting sick. It saddens me to give such a bad review for a rescue shelter. I honestly didn't want to believe that bad reviews but after adopting my cat from them roughly 2 months ago, I can agree with the 1-star reviews. The initial process of meeting the cat was easy since they're at Petco. The ladies working there that day were nice and had knowledge of certain cats (probably due to fostering them). When adopting we were told by the foster that our kitty doesn't like to play, prefers flakes for wet food, loves to sit on laps, and loves being around her humans. We were also told they had all their shots, dewormed, chipped, etc. But literally first night I noticed she was scratching a lot and found a BUNCH of fleas on her..which later also gave her tapeworms. I initially thought it was the adjusting period she needed to go through but I think it was the fleas and worms causing her loss in appetite and energy because we ALSO found out she loves to play. I have also introduced her to pate food and she eats it! So there was just a lot of false information that got me super wary... After a wellness check thankfully everything with her is okay, and it was just the fleas and worms causing her to not be herself. However, they still have not registered her microchip as they said they would. I emailed them and they gave a quick response informing me that register the chips after 2 weeks post adoption (to ensure kitty is okay, is getting adjusted, and is not returned). It's been well over 2 weeks and I still do not see my kitty registered! Pretty disappointed with the overall experience although the ladies that helped me were nice. But I don't like being lied to or promised things that don't happen - a little unprofessional. And although my experience wasn't good, I do love my adopted kitty to death and I'm happy I was able to rescue her. read more

Don't adopt from Amy, she talked down to me because I told her I didn't want to take 2 kittens. And she lied on the fees. Ad said $200. Showed up to a $300 fee. You're better off going to wags pet adoption in OC as well . No joke! Maybe Amy is a great outside of events, but to me. It seems like she maybe got a bit greedy. I mean, 3 adoptions on Saturday? Why should I be forced to get 2 kittens for $600? Every other adoption center I went to recommended 2 kittens, but no one was as pushy as Amy. If you said no, she would quickly take the kitten away and put it back in the cage. I also saw her refuse to let a kitten go because a child didn't happen to hold the cat correctly. This ordeal started when I inquired over email about a pair of kittens that were available to foster. DANI RYAN answered my questions and I had a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE with her. I cannot believe that she is the FOUNDER and PRESIDENT of MeooqzResQ because she is incredibly unprofessional, emotionally manipulative, and clearly has no sense of compassion for human beings. I was in the midst of discussing my options with my fiance when -- 8 minutes later -- Dani emailed me saying "did I answer something wrong? these babies die at 5pm." Weird, but I shrugged this off. I continued to talk with my fiance to consider if we had the time and space to foster kittens again. She sent another email to me with very aggressive words, spelled my name wrong, and wrote in all capital letters. I was so uncomfortable. At 4:50pm, DANI RYAN then sent a picture of the kittens with the caption "they had no one but you RIP Johnny and June." Are you kidding me? What kind of guilt-tripping and shaming act is this This was incredibly unprofessional, manipulative, and frankly disgusting behavior. I have fostered 30+ kittens with 6 different rescue organizations and I have never encountered conduct anywhere near this grotesque. I will not work with an organization that deals so brazenly in emotional manipulation and guilt. These are transparent abuse tactics. But the worst was yet to come. I told Dani that I wished to be unsubscribed from the mailing list in the future and she replied "i removed you when they died." Dani's behavior and approach to this interaction is absolutely disgraceful. Emotionally manipulating someone into taking fosters is one thing, but to go out of your way to be vindictive after they have ceased to be useful to you? To try and guilt potential fosters out of spite? Shameful. Dani Ryan needs some serious psychiatric help. I encourage other kitten foster parents to NEVER foster through this organization. I really should have read the reviews before trying to adopt from this place. They let you fall in love with a cat, then tell you their policy requires that you adopt 2, not recommend, BUT require, as in you can't just take one, at $275 per cat, but 2 for $550. I would have never had an issue with the cost as I hope it goes towards saving other kitties, but I just found this to be greedy. I wanted to adopt just one, but they would not let me, even after my application was submitted and was told by this foster that the kitten I wanted "Found her new mama" as she saw me holding her in my arms. I've been adopting rescue kitties all my life and have never been made to feel like a criminal for wanting just the one I fell in love with. AMY was the foster, and I've never met anyone more cold and demeaning. Very greedy woman putting money ahead of the well being of the cats. I was told by another Foster who also works there who was very familiar with the kitten I wanted that this kitten was having eye issues caused by stress. I asked what she meant, and she said it was because this poor kitten kept rubbing her face against the cage, irritating her eyes from the stress of being moved from adoption place to adoption place for over a month. Our 11 year old cat had been battling an illness for over a year. He lost his battle with the disease early this summer. He had a companion kitty at the house who had been looking for him on a daily basis. With us still feeling like there was a void in the home, we decided to adopt another cat as a companion for our resident cat and of course, ourselves. So we stopped by PetCo to purchase some dog food, not even considering that fact that we'd adopt a kitten while in the store. We saw an incredible amount of kittens up for adoption. Most were asleep in cages so we couldn't see what their personalities were like. I saw this orange tabby kitten sleeping next to his siblings. I asked what his temperament was like and they said that he was very lovable. At this point, I had to hold him. He was still tired but I had a feeling that he was going to be the one! I was at a different PetCo location earlier that day and didn't connect with any of the kittens. This little guy was different. I took him over to an open area where they held dog training classes. He was very active and curious about his surroundings. This was also an opportunity to see if he was relatively healthy. I didn't see any discharge from his nose or eyes. His belly was normal size which was a good indicator that he didn't have FIP. After a while, I told them that I wanted to adopt this kitten. His name was Grady but we would quickly rename him, Copper! The adoption fee $150 but it had to be paid in the form or cash or credit card. So I paid with cash since I couldn't write a check. Copper came with his first set of shots and his certification of sterilization. They had a 2 week health guarantee and you could exchange the kitten if it didn't work out. Plus, you were given a free vet visit to ensure that your kitten is healthy. We actually brought Copper home the next day because we had to prepare for his arrival. Since we had to make sure that he was healthy, we kept him separated from our resident cat. I took him to their vet in Tustin and it turned out that he was negative for Feline Leukemia and HIV. We were relieved to hear that Copper was pretty healthy, but then they told us that he tested positive for Coccidia!!!! The rescue organization covered the cost of his medication. The downfall was that the he had to take this medicine for 20 days AND he had to be isolated away from other animals in the home. We got through his treatment and finally began to let him interact with other animals in the home. It took a bit of work to make his transition smooth. However, now he's best friends with our cat and even attempts to play with our Shiba. Copper has come a long way! When we adopted Copper, we were surprised that he wasn't microchipped and that they didn't interview any of our references. When we adopted from a different cat rescue organization two years ago, they called our references which included our veterinarian. That cat came with a compete set or shots, a microchip, and open communication about its well-being. MeoowzResQ does some great work when it comes to helping cats in need. Their goal is to get these cats into a home which is better than ending up in the shelters and being euthanized. We checked out their reviews and were a little hesitant to adopt from them. However our cat is so happy, heathy, and lovable! That's exactly what we wanted and it wouldn't have happened if we had not come across MeoowzResQ! read more

I'm trying to be fair with this review and give my honest experience. Now I understand this shelter is doing work to keep animals safe and that's the reason I have three starts instead of the one I actually wanted to give. I've been prepping for adopting of a kitten for a long time now. I finally found a kitten that I was interested in adopting. I filled out the application and visited the kitten a few times before going through the adoption event. At the event I let the lady Kathy know I came with the intention of adopting this kitten. From the moment I opened my mouth it seem like she was just not interested in giving me an opportunity. I didn't mind it thought I explained to her yes, technically this would be my first cat although I've had family cats and my housemate has a dog. She stated off by telling me they recommend two kitten adoption rather than one. Then somewhere along the conversation she said it was a policy. I looked at the website and the location and there was no indication that this was a requirement. It just didn't feel like a genuine conversation. Then another volunteer let me go inside and play with the kitten which I really appreciated. But once I came out to again share that I wanted to take this kitten home, Kathy just nodded her head and didn't look at me while she was telling me that they've had returns of kittens that have gone by themselves. Again, I understand they are only interested in the health of the kitten. What I found off putting was how the conversation went and the energy Kathy was giving off. If I'm being honest it felt rude. I listened and said I understood and thanked them for their time. Kathy shrug her shoulders and continued with what she was doing. The other volunteer actually acknowledged me and said good luck. Dani is the very rude lady that runs this place. I reached out to her to ask for help to find homes for kittens I found that had been abandoned . I agreed to foster until she helped me find homes. After about 4 weeks I was able to find homes for them on my own . When I informed her I had found homes for them she emailed back a very rude letter all in caps about how I am on some DNA list ,whatever that is, and she congratulated me on being part of the cat overpopulation by not having them spayed or neutered. Hellooo ! I gave them to responsible people that have had them spayed and neutered. How dare this" lady ", for lack of a better word, say this when I rescued these little kittens from under some bushes and took care of them and found homes for them. Do these rescues get money from someone? That is the only reason I can think of why she was so rude when she doesn't even know me . Loss of money. My boyfriend and I walked into PetCo on a rainy Saturday expecting to just look at some cats...right when we came in a beautiful 3-month tortie kitten, caught our eyes and ended up being our new baby who we named Lola. The whole adoption process was very easy. Signed a few papers, was given a vet voucher for Lola's second set of kitty vaccines, and coupons for cat purchases at PetCo. Lola was already spayed, microchipped, and had her first set of vaccines. Although the staff might not have been the friendliest, or able to give us much information about Lola's personality... I still believe you have to think about the animals and how they need rescuing!! Anyways... When we brought Lola to our apartment she already was litter box trained, and although hid underneath our TV stand for a few hours... became friendly very quickly. Lola even slept in the bed with us that night! The only upsetting thing about MeoowzResQ was Lola's URI, we were told she was at the vet previously for URI, but we were not given much information about it. Lola's breathing did not sound very good when we first adopted her and we were a bit worried, luckily it has gotten better. However, although there are a lot of bad reviews complaining about the staff, Don't feel as though you shouldn't adopt from this company because the staff isn't the best! THESE ANIMALS STILL NEED RESCUING!! It's now been a month since we adopted Lola and it's been one of the best decisions my boyfriend and I have ever made! DO NOT ADOPT OR BOTHER TO CONTACT THIS RESCUE FOR HELP. This rescue owner is a little off in the head. I had found 2 kittens but couldn't keep them as I already have two of my own. After making sure with my vet that they were in good health and asking when they should get vaccinations, I started a mass social media post with friends and family to see who could adopt these kittens while they were in my care. Unfortunately I couldn't find anyone who could take them in, so I started to contact numerous rescues, Meowz being one of them, and also posting on Craigslist. Dani was the first and fastest of the rescues to reply. At first I was elated and even scheduled to find time to take them in to get vaccinated and has agreed to take care of the 2 kittens in the meantime of them getting adopted (since I was doing that already), but then I started to read the reviews about the health of their cats for adoption and started doubting if I made the right choice for these kittens. And then someone from CL contacted me and both kittens got adopted and their fur parents had no qualms in taking care of the vet expenses when I told them that the kittens just needed to get vaccinated and I recommended for them to go to my vet for my own cats. And then life got hectic as it usually does and I forgot about the fact that I had contacted rescues before. Apparently I had been billed by Meowz for the kittens' vaccinations which I never took them to because I didn't have them anymore. When I got the 2nd notice (I never received the 1st one but that's the post office for you), I contacted Meowz to stop billing me because I didn't have the kittens anymore and they got adopted. They asked if I had them vaccinated or "altered" before they got adopted and I told them no because they GOT ADOPTED. And this was well before I could make the time between work and finding funds to take them before they got older. Now all of a sudden I'm on an DNA and DNF list because of that and "shame on me" for not doing something that the kittens' new cat mommy and daddy have already done after adopting them. What the heck? I really feel bad for those fosters who are currently working with the owner. She definitely doesn't treat even temporary ones with respect. Please heed the warnings about the health of the kittens and cats from the other reviewers. If anything, just contact the foster owner of the particular cat/kitten you want directly as they definitely will have a better idea of the health of their fosters. MeoowzRezQ was recommended to me for my two kittens that I needed to find homes for, one we had vaccinated The other had special needs. We took them yesterday spoke to a couple of people that were there gave them information on the kittens. I felt a little uneasy, so I tried to call later just to see how they were doing. I got no response. I then emailed them just to see how they were doing. The person getting back to me said she had no idea what I was talking about referring to the drop off of my kittens. I became very concerned! I went to rescue this morning to see what was going on with my kitties, plus emailed them, the response I got was "if I was so anxious they opened up in three minutes, I should go pick my cats up!"I was like oh okay, I hadn't read this until I had already spoken to the two women that were at the facility. They were very kind and reassured me that the two kittens were going to be taken very good care of. They were going to a foster home later this afternoon. I really don't think the person that is answering The emails Has a clue of what goes on at the rescue, so of course a concerned caregiver that is looking out for the best interest of the kittens! I was called a ingrate and being taken off the list to drop off kittens! The ladies that are volunteers actually getting their hand dirty, working hard I commend you, I know what it's like to be cleaning up after the cats, fixing eye infections feeding them because I have a menagerie here as well, Plus working a job!!! Terrible, terrible place. I fostered 5 kittens from them. When they first got dropped off to me they all reeked of cigarettes. I was told i would only have them for 2 months tops, I had them for 4 & a half months because they couldn't get them spayed and neutered. Every time i've brought them in to get shots or more food all of the older cats in there hiss at you and are terrified and not fed enough. When my kittens were very young and would have problems that I found concerning I would message Kathy about it and she would say that it's normal and wouldn't offer to check them out for me. They obviously only care about themselves and money. I had to go on a trip recently for 8 days and I was absolutely terrified of leaving the kittens there but I had no other choice, I called them the other day and they said 3 of my kittens were adopted (without even letting me know) and that I have to call the day I get back in order to find out if i can still foster the 2 kittens left. The kittens at this rescue are starved and mistreated. I WAS TERRIFIED OF LEAVING MY FOSTERS THERE EVEN FOR 7 DAYS. The customer service is the worst i've ever seen. They are very very very rude and make you feel stupid anytime you ask a question - I even got hung up on over the phone. Every time i would go to pick up more food/litter I would be treated like sh*t and asked to feed them less or clean out their litter less. I'm scared for every single kitten there. It makes me sad. I wish I could complain to the owner but the owner is the problem. Even her own staff has agreed with me about how unprofessional they are. I came home from my vacation to pick up my fosters (the one I was going to adopt and they've known about this), and they told me that she's been adopted out. i'm insanely angry and upset about this situation. Although the volunteers that I dealt with were very nice and helpful, and deserve five stars, this rescue is not a good one. First the adoption fee was higher than I read online, $200.00 which is much higher than most others. ...and IT DIDN'T INCLUDE MICROCHIPPING, FELINE LEUKEMIA TESTING AND VACINATION, OR A RABIES SHOT. Which most other rescues do. I was a foster 3 years ago, and I sure wouldn't have adopted out my kittens without these. I just finished fostering through this rescue and I think they are wonderful! I have worked with a couple of other rescue places, one in another state, before I moved to California and let me tell you, these people work their butts off!! And most of them are volunteers, no money, no compensation for what they do other than the love from the animals and the satisfaction of knowing they are making a difference. I have read most of the reviews on here and just want to say, no one is perfect. This rescue relies on it's volunteers and fosters, without fosters there would be no MeoowzResQ. The people that run the adoption events are volunteers, they spend their Saturdays and/or Sundays at these events. They want to find good homes for the kitties, sometimes they don't time to chat with people that are just looking, that isn't being rude, that's working. The kitties are their first priority. And sometimes a sick kitty gets missed, it happens. I read a complaint about someone trying to rehome a couple of cats they had adopted from here and were tricked by a rep for MeoowzResQ. When you adopt you agree to return the cat to MeoowzResQ if at some point in time you can't keep the cat, so just call them! I was in Dani's office getting shots for my foster when a couple returned a cat they had adopted, she was not rude or mean or in any way disrespectful. Sure she was disappointed, imagine how the cat felt!! So if you are reading this and thinking of adopting from here, don't be afraid or worried, the cats they have are loved, they live in homes, they are current on shots and you get a voucher for a vet check, use it. I've always been a dog person maybe because I have a cat personality. So dogs compliment my very quiet and independent nature. Just as I was looking to adopt a dog, I read my apartment's rules and it said they only allow service dogs. Funny how I see so many owners walking their dogs, who obviously don't look and act like service doggies, at different times of the day. Huh. So I thought, hhm. Why not try a cat? And where else can you find a reputable place than CRAIGSLIST! I happened to see an ad for such a cute kitten that I emailed them right away. I know I sometimes have this "impulse buying" syndrome and I definitely had the "impulse adopting" cap on that day. I emailed them at 9 AM and I was on my way to get the kitten at 1:30. Valerie, the foster mom, was very helpful (I think that was her name). She and I met at a park in Long Beach and she was kind enough to tell me not to get offended if the cat doesn't bond with me right away, like most dogs. It takes longer for cats to come out and play. And that I should put the kitten on the litter box first thing when I get home to teach her where she's supposed to go potty. Do that for the first week each time I get home from work. I signed some papers basically stating I cannot have the kitten declawed and I have 30 days to return the cat if things don't work out. There was an adoption fee of $100. Pretty painless. I actually picked up my cat from CL free section but the previous owner told me he adopted him from meoowzreq and gave us paper work of our lovely biscuit (who was called sugar in shelter) He is amazing, loving smart boy who loves attentions and give kisses . We got him when he was 3months old and he turned 2 couple months ago :) he made my family alot happier. I have fostered for and adopted from MeoowzResQ and can't say enough good things about them! They are a are a 100% volunteer run, non-profit organization. While I feel for the reviewer who had a bad experience with MeoowzResQ I must say that in all of my interactions with this organization I never had any similar experiences. What I did experience was a rescue group maintained by volunteers that do the work because they love it- not because they are making a profit. (If fact I have seen cats come in with serious injuries, broken bones etc., and Meoowz pays for all of the Vet treatment and surgery out of their limited budget just because they truly care for the animals) I would and have recommended MeoowzResQ to friends and family members looking to adopt. read more

I worked very closely with the rescue for years and I'll tell you, the cases they take, the things they deal with, and the STRESS, blood, sweat and tears they put in is more than you can possibly imagine. For anyone writing anything negative about them, SHAME ON YOU. If you only knew the compassionate heart of Dani the owner, or the people who help her there. They way they dedicate every minute of their lives helping the helpless. They devote themselves ENTIRELY to helping animals. They save animals lives minutes away from being killed at the shelter when no one else will, all the time. They make nothing short of miracles happen for animals that have NO ONE, NO CHANCE, and are about to be killed in shelters and sent off in a dump truck, never to be seen again. They give them a chance at life in their darkest hours. The pure devotion and heart and love this rescue gives and shows to animals, no matter how abused, how sick, how badly they receive them, or how difficult the case is, is unparalleled. They give nothing but deep love and care for all creatures and this is coming from someone who knows VERY well and worked down in the trenches rescuing rejected, hopeless souls with them. I am heartbroken by this so called "rescue". My partner and I adopted a cat on couple weeks ago on a Sunday and Thursday, we had to take him back to the rescue due to him being FIV+. We already have two other FIV- cats in our house. Every step of going through the process of returning him was absolute hell. we grew attached to him and it broke our hearts to get the results of this test, which should've been something they test for before adopting them out. We also realized once we went to the vet that he hadn't had his rabies shot either which means they ARE NOT fully vaccinated at the time of the adoption. We also had to give him TWO baths because his fur was so filthy. In the process of returning him to the shelter, we were met with several hours of sitting around waiting on an email back from Dani Ryan or someone to finally answer their phones at the office. After about 35 calls and many tears later, they FINALLY picked up the phone. They gave us an address to bring him back to, as their physical office address is posted NOWHERE. The address is 1602 N Grand Ave Santa Ana, CA on the second floor of the pet hospital. Throughout this whole ordeal my partner and I struggled with "Do we keep him and risk the potential of getting our other cats sick? Can we afford to help him with his special needs? Are we the right home for him or does he deserve a one cat home full of love?" After crying all day, we came to the conclusion we weren't the right home for him. When walking up the stairs and getting to the last door on the left, where their office was, we cried saying goodbye to our boy. While explaining to the volunteers at the rescue that we can't keep him, they used our emotions and feelings against us saying that we really love him, we should keep him, despite the risk it poses to our other two babies. This is clearly emotional manipulation. They basically begged us to reconsider and talk to their vet about what FIV+ cats in the home with other FIV- cats is actually like. We consistently heard "it can't get your other cats sick unless it's TO THE BONE bite". We had already gotten all of this information but after discussing it, figured we are not the best home. Later, their vet called us back and said verbatim "I would not have a cat that is positive for FIV in a home with FIV- cats, no." We are still being asked to reconsider and keep him with us. I have never felt so uncomfortable and ashamed in an adoption situation. This rescue needs to learn how to be more professional and care for their cats better. We have considered all the ways to keep him and it's not possible. If we had known before we adopted him, we wouldn't have adopted him. They don't FIV/FeLV test all of their cats even if they were once feral cats. They don't give rabies vaccinations. They didn't give him or their other cats a bath, and then expect a $150 adoption fee for not even doing half of what they are supposed to. I would never recommend this rescue to anyone and I hope they get their organization in order for the sake of these babies. read more

I adopted a tiny little boy kitten named Muffin (now Jumbo lol) from Meoowz in March of 2009... I have been lagging to write a review- but here I am! I really like that Meoowz is a volunteer run org, they care about each and every cat (or kitten in Jumbo's case) that comes through their doors. I got to meet Jumbo's foster the day I adopted him from the Pet Store. She seemed to really care about him and was happy to see him go to a good home... I also got 10% off off all of my purchases that day (litter, food etc.) which was nice. If you or a friend is thinking about adopting a kitten I would say take a look at Meoowzresq, I was told the more kittens that get adopted, the more kittens they can save... that's a goal I can support!
