The menu as of summer 2022

I grew up in Kailua Kona and I had one particular spot that I went to to get shave ice. This shave ice shop in Gladstone brings back allllll the nostalgia for those times. This shop is owned and operated by a couple who spends half their time in Oregon and half their time in Hawaii - they're truly living the life, and are the nicest people. That does mean the shop is only open for part of the year. It's a walk up window off the main street of Gladstone. The menu offers a lot of flavors. The sizes are really generous - a small was a lot for just one person, so I actually recommend the mini size. It's still plenty. They are busiest on hot days, of course, so be prepared for a line if it's sunny out. Go on a cloudy day for no wait. Either way it doesn't take long and it's well worth it!

Line starts at the ropes. Order at the door. Menu on the right. Some seats in the front.

So happy they're open for this hot spring weather! Great price for SHAVED ICE. Not a snow cone-- actual shaved ice!!! Many flavors, ice cream, toppers to choose from and the owners are super nice. This place gets very busy during peak hours, so be patient or get there early. There are a few seats outside. They haven't opened the inside back up yet and not sure if they will. Order at the door, which is converted to a window. They take ApplePay. My two advice: Be sure to check their hours before visiting, and bring wet wipes. Lol.

My little girl and I stopped by for a Dole Whip cone as a reward for her reading goals. On a hot day, at 3:30, there were only 2 people in line in front of us. The server greeted us warmly and took our order quickly. Our cone was beautiful and delicious. My daughter took one lick and declared "Today is a pretty exciting day"

This place has the best shave ice I've ever had outside of Hawaii - and better than some I've had on island. Sooo good. The only sad part is they don't serve shave ice all year, today was the last day until next spring. The rest of their offerings looked yummy and I look forward to trying those, too. The people working there are very warm and welcoming. We will definitely be back.

True shave ice, not a snow cone. We found this place and keep taking our friends and family to enjoy the goodness.

UPDATE: they're closed for the remainder of 2020. Small cries. I just tried to go there today. One of the things I crave the most is authentic Hawaiian shaved ice. We have our favorite place out on the islands and we are constantly wishing we could eat it, basically every day. It's hard to find Hawaiian shaved ice, actual Hawaiian shaved ice, in/around Portland. We always crave it and not the kind we grew up with from the county fair in a paper cone. Give me those tropical flavors, that condensed milk, the ice cream inside! This place does all of it. The only thing I wish they offered was the fresh fruit or mochi but I know that's asking a lot. We are perfectly happy with every shaved ice order we've had from here! We are even more happy that they're on the east side, close to home. Their flavor list is dizzying at how many they offer. My husband also figured out that yes, the red watermelon and green watermelon are indeed different watermelon flavors. A little warning, their sizes are HUGE. So order knowing you're going to walk away with a haystack sized shaved ice! The actual ice is always fluffy and light, perfect to soak up those flavors and mix into the ice cream. We'll definitely keep coming back, actually I'll be back tomorrow cause this prego has been craving it all night. If they were open now, I'd already be in the car. Ha!

This place was phenomenal! Such incredible flavors and cool concept. I got passion fruit snow cone with vanilla ice cream in the middle and topped with li hing mui powder. It was delicious! The li hing mui powder gave it a tart flavor. I highly recommend! The staff was also very friendly!

If you're ever out in Oregon city on a hot day this is the place to check out. It's hard to find good shaved ice in Oregon and this one gets pretty close to home. The ice is pretty fine and their syrups are sweet (and come from Hawaii). They also serve the shaved ice in plastic containers that have 'drip guards' - perfect for noob shaved ice eaters. I had my shaved ice with ice cream - flavors are all good so just follow your heart, and pick three for maximum variety! The owners are from Hawaii. I spoke w the wife a bit and she's super nice. Definitely visit this place if you want a taste of aloha. There's also a very cool comic shop across the street.

Awesome service. Kid and family friendly, dog friendly, the owners are the best! Personable and always in a happy mood . It does get busy, so get ready to stand in line, average wait time us 10-15min but once you order they call you up within 5 minutes. Not bad considering they are popular with the locals and when it gets hot it's the best place to go to cool down. Obviously coming back for more . Icecream and pog shaved ice is like a Orangesicle , I super recommend the coconut and Pog flavors which are my favorite . Enjoy everyone!

POG and Haupia, Pup cup was the perfect way to cool down.

We went mid day Saturday, street parking was easy. There were customers flowing through and no line. Lots of benches outside. Great flavor options, ice was soft, and the staff was friendly.

One of my children have been frequenting this place for many a summer and she insisted we go since it was the last sunny day we we're gonna see in awhile and so glad she did! The husband/wife team that runs the place are super friendly and the shaved ice is excellent add the scoop of ice cream in the middle it makes it so much more special. The toppings are vast I can't even begin to list them all. Sadly they are only open seasonally, but I will become a summer regular.

This is legit Hawaiian style shaved ice! Brought us back to Hawaii with the flavors and hospitality!

Price seems reasonable for what you get, with a good amount of indoor seats, super cute decor and super friendly staff. Ube and mango bingsu, oh what fond memories I have of you! The ube ice cream on top was so yum, not too sweet and nicely firm, which I preferred so I didn't have to deal with a melty gooey mess. It sat on top of mango chunks and sauce, with coconut and almond flakes, on a bed of shaved fluffy iced (condensed?) milk. It was smooth and silky, like if shaved ice and whipped cream had a baby. It was super light and not sweet thankfully, since the sweetness came from the fruit and ice cream. I'm drooling just reminiscing about it. We took the taiyaki home for the kids and it was delish, even 45mins after being cooked. Still soft and warm on the inside, almost like a cake/cookie stuffed with melty Nutella, shaped like a fish. I'm sure it would have tasted even better after being freshly made. Both desserts were HEAVENLY and I didn't leave me feeling like I gained 10 lbs. I will come back 10000% - definitely a must go dessert spot!!

I probably wouldn't re-order the ube - with nuts instead of a syrup or fruit, it was a little dry. My friend loved the mango however. The nutella taiyaki was great. They have some wild flavors (pepperoni pizza?!) and also offer a flight which is really fun. They also have a limited drink menu (including redbulls) and ice cream by itself. The interior is quirky and minimal. I loved the hand-painted cat art. It looks like they get busy and may not be able to wipe everything down thoroughly between customers. There are a few outdoor tables also. Parking in the area can be tricky, I usually head into the neighborhood north of Hawthorne and walk a few blocks.
