Came here for our Anniversary dinner. This place is a hidden gem. Literally and figuratively. I feel sad for those visitors who would not venture down the side street to find this place. The food was great as well as the service. They gave us complementary cava for our anniversary. The service was great. They super patient with my attempts to pull out my Bronx Spanish otherwise known as Spanglish. We ordered bass and gnocchi. The gnocchi was melt in your mouth good. The fish was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I love the skin on fish when it's crispy and this was crispy. The tiramisu was really good too. The prices were great. Loved this place so much! Great ambience and a true hidden gem...

Having recently moved to Barcelona from San Francisco we've struggled to find good Italian (can't eat Tapas every day :) Well we found it last night from the first bite of the Eggplant Parmigiana which by the way is the best vegetarian dish I've ever tasted, to the last bite of the squid ink pasta with shrimp the entire meal was absolutely delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly, both my wife and I got unsolicited smiles from the chef in the kitchen and the wait staff were equally charming. Can't recommend Meneghina highly enough. read more

Hands down one of the top Italian meals I have had in a restaurant. First off, the wait staff was amazing. She steered us constantly to the right meal choice that were top notch. At one point we were going to add another appetizer but she recommended not to as it would be too much. Plus got us to a great local wine choice. Our meal started with an eggplant parmigiana appetizer. I am NOT fond of eggplant the way my wife is. So when I tried it, I was shocked how good it was. Light in taste, perfect in consistency. Best eggplant I ever had. For entrees my wife had the spaghetti with marinara and I had the spaghetti with clams and mussels. The pasta was perfect. The clams and mussels were spot on. For dessert we had cannolis with pistachio ice cream. I grew up in NYC and none I have had there matched up. Great experience and highly recommend. read more

Tonight we had an amazing dining experience at Menegrina. We got to speak with Arianna, who is the owner, and she guided us through the menu and the decor. The interior is very beautiful, all painted white, and where there were holes in the original stones, old cups, plates, and figurines have been placed. The whole interior to the menu is very inspirational and artistic. The house red wine was from a small winery in Rioja and was done in small batches, the proprietor didn't even make labels for the wine. We shared a plate of Italian cheeses which was excellent. My wife had the handmade gnocchi and I had the rabbit with polenta. Both dishes were spectacular and very creative. Their desserts were fantastic as well. This was our date night in Barcelona and it was one well-spent. We will be going back and telling our friends. If you want Italian cuisine with a Catalan flair, this is your place! The fresh pasta with blue fish is fantastic as is the ragu. You must eat here! read more

Delicious! We ordered spaghetti with prawns & sea bass roe along with sea bass and broccoli, everything was great! Our server also helped us choose the perfect wine pairing. For dessert, the cannoli, pistachio ice cream, coffee, & amaretto shot were quite a tasty treat! The table bread was unbelievable, full of flavor without the need for olive oil or butter. Apparently it comes from a local artisan bakery. The service was excellent, very friendly staff!!! I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Dine here if you need a break from tapas! The food was delicious and fresh - 4 stars. What we ordered Beef carpaccio - the beef was fresh and thinly cut, cheese was flavorful, dressing & arugula were also fresh and tasty. It was the best carpaccio we had on this Europe trip considering we ordered it 3 times in Paris and once in Nice. Linguini with shrimp - pasta was al dente and infused with garlic and seafood flavor, shrimp was fresh, and tomatoes and arugula were also really fresh from her garden. Stuffed squid - fresh seafood, well balanced carmelized onion & garlic filling, also accompanied with the home grown tomatoes and arugula. The service and hospitality was 5 stars. The owner verbally translated the ENTIRE menu in English. We didn't order wine with our meal but she gave us complimentary wine because she thought it would accentuate our meal, which it did! We could tell she really wanted us to be comfortable and just enjoy our meal. Ambience - 5 stars Cozy and warm hospitality (maybe because the owner is from Sicily) and artfully decorated. I was really excited to try this place. The night we went, the menu had nothing on it that had been reviewed or I had seen here on yelp, in fact there were only two entrees to choose from, neither of which I wanted. So we shared a starter, burrata con pisto, which was excellent, and then I had another starter for dinner, ceps del bosque, which featured a few mushrooms and chestnuts, and some weird green spongy stuff that I still don't know what it is. Not much food on that plate. My BF had pasta with seafood, which was...meh, good but nothing special. We went for it and tried a very strange dessert that was like a paste of berenjena (eggplant) with nuts stacked between biscuits, chocolate sauce, and salted risotto ice cream. The ice cream was the worst dessert I've ever experienced-overpoweringly salty and just awful. Overall not much flavor, but I like very sweet desserts. This would be appropriate for someone who doesn't like sweets. Overall disappointed with the food, because my hopes were so high. Service was excellent. read more

Excellent place to take a break from tapas and enjoy a great Italian dinner. Homemade pastas and excellent dessert. Both the gnocchi and fusilli pastas were delicious. 3.5 stars. This place is pretty good. I have had much better Italian food in the states. We had the burrata which was standard (but overpriced) and for the main dishes we had a the spaghetti and rice dish with squid. The squid dish was definitely the best one we tried. Overall, the place is overpriced for what it is. The wine I was too warm. The service was good. If you we in Barcelona on vacation, pass on this place and go to the gazillion excellent restaurants in this awesome hood. If you are sick of tapas, go to red ant noodle house across the street or mosquito. Other good places in the hood include Elsa y Fred or picnic for brunch. read more

Tourist trap! The house wine pours are literally LESS than half of a normal glass of good wine at a quality restaurant or literally any glass anywhere else. You will also be charged for the bread that they put on the table without asking that appears to be free. I only chose this place because of the good reviews, and the one dish and one appetizer we had were good, but definitely not worth the prices. It was a sign when the small restaurant was mostly empty on a Saturday. I don't mind paying for quality, but this place is definitely overpriced for what it is. read more

We were looking for a place where we could bring our pup and my mother in law and found this place online. We all loved it. It is a small but cozy place and their appetizer that consist of eggplant and tomatoes was absolutely amazing. Our two daughters loved their spaghetti and their ice cream dessert. We including our kids loved the tiramisu (we allowed them to have a small taste). The service was excellent. We will definitely come back again. Had a great experience Luckily our pup boxer was calm, made no noise, and just hung out while we had tasty food. read more

Ok, we have been in Barcelona now for a week of a three week stay. This place by far has been the best meal since we landed. We were in the mood for something different. No more Tapas food as we are tired of different places all offering the same Tapas food. Yes, we are tourists and I understand that is what Barcelona is about, but I wanted to eat real food that makes me say WOW... I want more of that. Ok, they open at 9pm for dinner so do not get their earlier. A reservation is a good idea as they only have about ten small tables, especially if you go in a group of four or more. We got lucky as we strolled upon this place right at 9pm when they were opening so they sat us right away. Basically two people work here, the owner and the chef who may be an owner as well. Two women who just rock. The service was very attentive as the owner, I think her name is Arianna, was just great with us and our two kids. She explained the small but varied menu as everything on it was just slightly unique enough for us to want to enquire. The offerings are not your typical Italian dishes, but versions of, with a special twist of the great chef in the kitchen. We were served bread right away, no butter by the way. Also she brought us a dish of olives which per my wife were some of the best she has eaten period. We ordered a couple of assorted cheese appetizers which were delicious. Then we had several different plates for the main course. My wife had some grilled shrimp, very simple plate, but she said absolutely delicious. They were served in the shell so a little labor was required to de-shell and eat, but she said it was well worth the effort. I ordered the vegetable ravioli... strange for me as I am a super meat eater but they intrigued me and I wanted to stray from the norm in my case. They were out of this world. Great sauce and the ravioli were filled with I think cheese and pumpkin, not 100% sure, but it didn't matter as I was in heaven. I ate every drop and even cleaned the sauce off the plate to get every last savory taste. My kids split an order of the pasta w/ meat ragu or in generic terms a pasta w/ bolognese sauce. When it arrived it looked a little light on the bolognese sauce, but when they did not finish it of course I felt obligated to give it a try. Well, I was amazed at how much flavor the dish actually had. The meat ragu or bolognese was absolutely delicious and once again I found myself scraping the bowl for just one more bite. Next time, and there will be a next time, I will order this dish and double up on the portion as in my opinion it was that good. As for beverages we kept it simple with just water and sodas as we do not drink too much but it does seem that they have a nice offering of wine, beer, and some liquor to satisfy all. At the end of the meal we shared a chocolate pastry type cake. Very simple and yet again delicious. The only problem is that one piece did not satisfy the cravings of all four of us. The location is quite hidden so take care when following your GPS to get there as it is easy to miss. No real sign at all, just a small menu of the day out front and two ladies working hard to get it all right for you. The prices are not your typical "Tapas" cheap, but they are not high at all. For the four of us we spent 78 Euros in all which for the quality of the food I considered to be reasonable. Ah, they do not accept credit cards so go prepared with cash in pocket otherwise you will be washing dishes for the next week to work off your bill. Once again, to date the best meal for us in barcelona. Not touristy at all, mostly locals coming in to pay their regards. I love these types of places, a true find in my view. What a great hidden gem! The decor is comfortable yet elegant and the food was delicious. We went on a wed night and had no problems getting a table without a reservation. My husband and I shared the eggplant parmesan, seafood gnocchi, a braised lamb dish with polenta and potatoes, and a pistachio mouse. Even though we were sharing the dishes they had no problem plating them in 2 separate portions. The presentation was gorgeous and the portion sizes were perfect. The eggplant parmesan was nice and light with not too much breading and beautiful fresh basil, the gnocchi was fluffy with a light broth that was to die for (I definitely used my bread to sop it up) , and the lamb was fall-apart tender with a nice crust. The service was great as well, they had an English menu but were still eager to give any explanations or recommendations as needed. The chef came out afterwards to say hello and inquire about the meal and gave us some complimentary limoncello. My only complaint is that they didn't seem to serve wine by the glass, but we easily went though a whole bottle over the course of the meal so clearly it wasn't that much of an issue for us. read more
