The Holocaust serves as a painful reminder of the depths of human cruelty and the importance of never forgetting the atrocities committed. After many years of considering a more independent study, we made the decision to enroll my son in Altus. His demeanor, his work ethic, confidence, and overall attitude changed drastically. I wish we would've made the change sooner by glad he will finish off high school here. The staff is so friendly and helpful they make my son and parents feel welcomed. She had an extremely good foundation learning Spanish by being completely immersed in the language and culture of Spanish with her awesome kindergarten teacher, Maestra Ledezma, who only spoke to students and parents in Spanish to train the children. She's the best! Parents were welcome to help in her classroom or take home things to cut or glue. The complete transparency and access of her classroom for parents with long umbilical cords gave us ultimate trust in her methods. Her kinder year was rigorous not only for my daughter but for all the parents who struggled nightly to help their children with the "tarea" or homework packets. I thought the challenging rigor would increase as she went through each grade but kinder was the toughest. They learned Spanish vowels, math, holidays, songs, customs, countries and had a costume fashion show for the countries they reported on in kinder. They learned mathematics in Spanish, science in Spanish and in middle school, they are divided into Team Berkeley or Team Harvard to instill not just college pursuits but top ranking University endeavors. They go to 6th grade camp for a week then go on 2 trips in middle school touring San Diego Universities in 7th grade and a 4 day, 3 night trip visiting Los Angeles campuses such as USC, UCLA, UCI, Long Beach State University, and a fun stop at Universal CityWalk for lunch with overnight stays at the Ayers Hotel in LA County cities. Several points during her years at Nestor, I almost transferred my daughter to another school but then that would be like pulling a cake out of the oven half baked so I'm very glad I decided to stick with the program despite politics, which happens any where you go, bullying, and other negative issues. From my own experience of learning French and Latin, those languages actually helped me to learn and understand English better so I can see the anxiety of parents not understanding the methodology of the language program in terms of learning English, but it is excellent and effective to learn another language then learn English. English is a complicated language to learn with many rules, exceptions to those rules, and nuances. Learning another language actually makes learning English easier, strengthening the knowledge of both. My daughter's command of the Spanish Language is equivalent to that of a student studying at a University in Spain. She reads, writes, enunciates, speaks, and sings proper Spanish and can now work as a translator in an embassy, teach English in Latin and South America as well as Spain. Her foundational learning acquired here is helping to open doors and opportunities for a bright and successful future. Thank you Nestor Language Academy Charter School! My daughter's success is your success! There is a waiting list for entrance into this school where it is highly recommended the child enters in kindergarten. Priority is given to siblings already attending Nestor. They offer an after school program as well. I highly recommend sending your child here for a culturally enriched education complete with the enhancement of bonds of friendships closer than family ties made to last a lifetime!

How can a community take any passionate student objections on social issues seriously when-as a student body-they struggle with proficiency in core subjects to intelligently articulate their own positions beyond regurgitating talking points that are often missing context? This is potentially dangerous. With that said, the Poseidon Academy, Honors (AP) program, and NJROTC are deserving of credit. Those programs offer students an opportunity for experiences in a higher level learning environment. However, if a given AP class testing average is poor some analysts should be done to discover why. Some students are not ready for the AP classes. Keeping them enrolled in advanced classes where they continue to fail does nothing positive for the students. A lot is required to redeem this school from its current state, but the staff, district, and community must have the fortitude to correct course. Students must learn to follow rules and work hard to meet scholastic and behavioral standards. Otherwise, they risk having to play catch-up after graduation when the consequences are more severe and potentially permanent.

He does not take action in situations like fights, language etc. Although the new principal, Mrs.Ochoa enforces more rules she still isn't the best choice. Students need principals like Mr.Coordt. He was a previous provable at our school. He was what really made students exceed in academics. He would play football, basketball, four square and even wall ball with students. He is what made change in this school, and I think every principal should take his examples and use them for themselves. Such as, letting students play baseball. Mrs.Ochoa banned the privilege to play baseball because "there's too many injuries." In my opinion I think if the kids can't play baseball then they should not play soccer. I think this because if there's injuries in baseball then there needs to be fair action. Because three people were wheel chaired of because of injuries. They also banned hot chips! I think this is going to far. Students should have fun in school. Not skipping because staff and other students. I do also think that there is only about three teachers all students respect. Such as, Mr.Moran,Mr.Luna, and Mr.Josh. Overall I think bayside isn't the right fit for all kids!
