A very good school that gave my children solid foundations and prepared them well for their education.

Bayside is an Awesome school. My son has special needs and I specifically had him transferred here…read morebecause of Mr. Moran. I previously worked at this school (and many other schools in the area). And Mr. Moran is my favorite teacher I have met. He is amazing with the students, I have never seen him yell or be anything but appropriate in the 6 years I have known him. He us straight forward, if you don't like the cold hard truth you won't like him either. He won't sugar coat things for the sensitive. It is really that simple. There are some parents that have unrealistic expectations of people, and resort to slander when they do not get their way. I am most certain I know who the person is that keeps making new profiles and slandering an amazing teacher. And it is of no surprise to me she stoops to this level. As for the other review, there are 3 to 4 staff on the playground at any given time, to watch 100 to 200 students at a time. I am a parent volunteer and rarely see (there are a few others here regularly) parents volunteering on the playground. Come on out at lunchtime. I guarantee you that within a few minutes no less than 10 students will run up to you saying teacher teacher, she pushed me, he took my ball, she kicked me, he hit me, and on and on. Seriously, come on out and be additional eyes. Until then, you are creating more of a problem. Bayside is an amazing school, staff that truly care about the students and their education.

He does not take action in situations like fights, language etc. Although the new principal, Mrs.Ochoa enforces more rules she still isn't the best choice. Students need principals like Mr.Coordt. He was a previous provable at our school. He was what really made students exceed in academics. He would play football, basketball, four square and even wall ball with students. He is what made change in this school, and I think every principal should take his examples and use them for themselves. Such as, letting students play baseball. Mrs.Ochoa banned the privilege to play baseball because "there's too many injuries." In my opinion I think if the kids can't play baseball then they should not play soccer. I think this because if there's injuries in baseball then there needs to be fair action. Because three people were wheel chaired of because of injuries. They also banned hot chips! I think this is going to far. Students should have fun in school. Not skipping because staff and other students. I do also think that there is only about three teachers all students respect. Such as, Mr.Moran,Mr.Luna, and Mr.Josh. Overall I think bayside isn't the right fit for all kids!

She had an extremely good foundation learning Spanish by being completely immersed in the language and culture of Spanish with her awesome kindergarten teacher, Maestra Ledezma, who only spoke to students and parents in Spanish to train the children. She's the best! Parents were welcome to help in her classroom or take home things to cut or glue. The complete transparency and access of her classroom for parents with long umbilical cords gave us ultimate trust in her methods. Her kinder year was rigorous not only for my daughter but for all the parents who struggled nightly to help their children with the "tarea" or homework packets. I thought the challenging rigor would increase as she went through each grade but kinder was the toughest. They learned Spanish vowels, math, holidays, songs, customs, countries and had a costume fashion show for the countries they reported on in kinder. They learned mathematics in Spanish, science in Spanish and in middle school, they are divided into Team Berkeley or Team Harvard to instill not just college pursuits but top ranking University endeavors. They go to 6th grade camp for a week then go on 2 trips in middle school touring San Diego Universities in 7th grade and a 4 day, 3 night trip visiting Los Angeles campuses such as USC, UCLA, UCI, Long Beach State University, and a fun stop at Universal CityWalk for lunch with overnight stays at the Ayers Hotel in LA County cities. Several points during her years at Nestor, I almost transferred my daughter to another school but then that would be like pulling a cake out of the oven half baked so I'm very glad I decided to stick with the program despite politics, which happens any where you go, bullying, and other negative issues. From my own experience of learning French and Latin, those languages actually helped me to learn and understand English better so I can see the anxiety of parents not understanding the methodology of the language program in terms of learning English, but it is excellent and effective to learn another language then learn English. English is a complicated language to learn with many rules, exceptions to those rules, and nuances. Learning another language actually makes learning English easier, strengthening the knowledge of both. My daughter's command of the Spanish Language is equivalent to that of a student studying at a University in Spain. She reads, writes, enunciates, speaks, and sings proper Spanish and can now work as a translator in an embassy, teach English in Latin and South America as well as Spain. Her foundational learning acquired here is helping to open doors and opportunities for a bright and successful future. Thank you Nestor Language Academy Charter School! My daughter's success is your success! There is a waiting list for entrance into this school where it is highly recommended the child enters in kindergarten. Priority is given to siblings already attending Nestor. They offer an after school program as well. I highly recommend sending your child here for a culturally enriched education complete with the enhancement of bonds of friendships closer than family ties made to last a lifetime!

They communicate well and they help you help your child by sharing their strengths as well as the areas where they may need a little more help. The office staff Ms Suzanne and Ms Debbie are so helpful with children and parents . They know so many kids by name . The principal walks around and takes time to say hello and smile and talk to you . Everyone who works there makes sure our kids are safe and do their best to communicate with parents through class dojo or email . I know that when I drive away that my daughter will be safe . The after school program is great positive vibes Mr Juan and his staff are nice people and they communicate well . They have extra curricular activities like art Mrs C does some very nice art projects and the board games is super fun . As well as music class . There's also Spanish and chess and things like that and science . The people that help at the crosswalk to keep kids safe are great! Parents get upset and can be rude but I am grateful for this school and their staff that they are not afraid they continue to be polite . Their main concern is keeping kiddos safe be kind back .

She yells and disrespects the kids all the time smh. Including my son. Pulled my kid out of there as soon as I could. Thank God !! Would not recommend this school . Don't move in the area !! Hahahaha if I would have known I lived close to such a shitty school I would never have moved around there.

One of my biggest problems with this school is their academics..I feel the kids are not being challenged enough in class and when it comes to homework. My kids never have homework on the weekend and maybe one sheet each day..the school needs alot of help. Another problem I have had was an incident with my daughter that I was never informed of, I later found out when she told me. She was given the choice to tell me herself or have the principal tell me..really??? Who does that! I was very upset..since then they have a new principal. The one thing that I really think should get addressed is the HUGE LICE problem at this school. It really bothers me and upsets me that my kids have had this problem about 5 times now within the 2 years they've attented. I know kids will get lice at some point but honestly 5 times is ridiculous and there's a BIG PROBLEM!!! It's a pain to get rid of and expensive as well to treat everyone in the home. Once again I never had this problem at the other school..I have 4 children and my oldest is in high school now..she started at the other school since Kindergarten never did I have this problem. Its frustrating and this problem needs to be addressed ASAP!! My kids will not be returning to this school next year.
