On the morning of 03/14 no one showed up for the installation so I called the salesman. He advised that he emailed me on 03/11 to tell me that all the components hadn't arrived but he "inadvertently" sent the email to himself, not me. He advised that the installation of the fireplace, cabinet & marble would be on 03/16. The fireplace & cabinet were installed on 03/16 but not the marble. My salesman advised that the marble would be installed on 03/17 and that I would be the installers first job. I called the salesman around 9:30 on 03/17 and was advised that the marble guy doesn't start his day until 11:00AM. At 11:55 I received a call from the salesman's manager that the marble was cut to the wrong size & would have to be reordered, pushing the installation date to 03/18 around noon. At 11:50 on 03/18 I received another call from the manager advising that the marble that was ordered was damaged in shipping. I was told that the marble would have to be reordered (again) and that I would get a call the morning of 03/22 to advise when the marble would be installed. The marble was installed on 03/22 but the installer didn't take the time to clean/wipe down the marble. The top of the cabinet was not installed. I, foolishly, thought someone would contact me on 03/23 to schedule the installation of the top. Instead, I received a call around 11:20AM on 03/25 advising that a tech could be available around noon(on that day) to install the top and that the sales rep could do the startup/orientation at that time. Fortunately my flexible schedule allowed me to go home. After startup, the sales rep said that to compensate for the inconveniences, Fireplace Hearth & Home could offer a whopping $100 dollar refund on our $5,000+ fireplace or provide a free "thorough" cleaning of our existing vent free fireplace. Being new to gas log fireplaces, I chose the cleaning of the existing fireplace. On 03/30 the tech stopped by for the cleaning. He cleaned the ignitor with a wire brush, used a rag to wipe the dust off the logs & screen & was done in 15 minutes.

We know he has been honest because we heat our home with a wood stove and we have never had a chimney fire. Our chimney was built around 1930 and it does not have a chimney liner. We needed a professional that would go above and beyond because our family's well-being may have depended on his honesty. Each year we would call Justin to schedule an appointment and often times it was already autumn when we contacted him. Even when his schedule was booked up for a month out, it was well worth the wait. When the day & time of our appointment was near and the forecast was expecting rain, Justin made accommodations to clean our chimney a day early! Every year Justin would gladly answer any questions we had regarding our chimney, wood stove, or anything regarding burning wood for heat. Justin always inspected the chimney first, then cleaned the chimney from above on the rooftop and then from within the house, taking the stove pipes apart and vacuuming inside the pipes and chimney. Justin always left our home very clean and reminded us as he left that if we needed anything or had any questions to contact him. We truly felt like we were always a priority to him, even when we had to wait for an opening in his schedule. We find it unfortunate that we will be moving out of his service area after this year, since our homestead is being sold. It has been an absolute pleasure to hire Justin.
