My family stayed at Cedar Gables for our anniversary. Around 2:30-3:00 a.m., an alarm started going off and woke our young daughter. She became very upset and cried for quite a while afterward. We spent much of the night trying to comfort her while also trying not to disturb other guests nearby. Needless to say, none of us got much sleep. There was someone available when we checked us in, but after that the property felt largely unattended. We didn't see staff when coming and going, there was no one available when we checked out, and the only employee we interacted with after check-in was the breakfast server. At 2:30 in the morning, while trying to calm a distressed child, our focus was on our daughter--not on finding a phone number to call. After the stay, I reached out directly to explain what happened and hoped they would consider some type of goodwill gesture. Instead, I was told that because the issue wasn't reported at the time, they could not verify what happened and therefore would not offer any accommodation. What disappointed me most wasn't even the alarm itself. Unexpected things happen. It was the feeling that our experience was dismissed simply because we didn't report it in the middle of the night while dealing with an upset child. We paid additional fees for our daughter and breakfast, chose this property for a special anniversary trip, and left feeling unheard. I wanted to share our experience so future guests can make an informed decision, especially if having readily available staff and personal service is important to them.

From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. The lady who assisted us was incredibly kind and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. Her warm hospitality truly made our stay even more special. The cottage was cozy, romantic, and just what we were hoping for. We especially loved the jetted tub, it was so relaxing and exactly what we needed. The scenery around the property was beautiful and peaceful, creating the perfect atmosphere for a birthday getaway. The thoughtful touches meant so much to us, the wine bottle and the birthday wishes were such a nice surprise. We also really enjoyed the breakfast; it was delicious and a great way to start the morning. Overall, we had an amazing night. It was much needed, and we're so glad we chose to celebrate there. We will definitely be coming back soon. P.s my man was skeptical at first cause the price but in the end he loved it I knew he would. Can't forget the mimosas too. We loved everything. This was really nice because at that time of the day it was nice to take a breather and sit on the porch with a glass of wine. They also had little fridges with non alcoholic drinks in each building. It has sodas and sparkling water which was a nice treat. Our room was great. It was spacious with a fireplace and a huge bathroom. There was a jacuzzi tub and shower. The bed was comfy and we heard no noise at night even though we were on the first floor by the entrance. Everything was secure with keys to enter the buildings and the rooms. Check in and check out were easy. There was plenty of parking on site too. My only constructive feedback was that the staff situation felt more like a hotel. There wasn't a lot of engagement like I've had at other B&Bs where the owners/staff are around during breakfast or check in to give hints on places to go or ideas for activities. Check out was just a sign to "leave keys here" and check in was also very straightforward with little engagement. I don't really need this but it was certainly different than other B&B experiences. The lack of availability did frustrate me a bit when I had a question during breakfast and couldn't find someone for over 15 min. I even called the number at the desk and an answering service picked up. I prefer to keep to myself with someone available if an issue arises so this didn't affect my experience much. But something to think about if you prefer more engagement or interaction.

The service and accommodations did not justify the $2,232.15 cost. Unlike other Napa bed and breakfasts we've stayed at, there is not a host or hostess to greet you upon check in or at breakfast. The breakfast is saran wrapped with a post it with your room number. There are not enough seats in the dining area for the number of guests. A team member followed us out of the main house and chastised us for not scraping our breakfast plate clean after we bused it. Another person followed us to the parking lot to show us that our son did not eat the breakfast we bought back to him. The faucets handles on our sink were loose and the electrical outlet in the bathroom blew out my curling iron. It was not disclosed that my son's room would be a bed in an unfurnished closet with no windows. We looked forward to breakfast, it's part of the reason why we chose to stay at a bed and breakfast vs hotel. The egg fritata muffin on Friday was over cooked. The raisin french toast wedge today was heavy and dense. My son and I did not eat either. The Blackbird Inn is not the level of hospitality we've experienced at other bed & breakfasts at Napa.

The sheets were amazingly comfortable and made it tremendously hard to get out of bed in the mornings, but a dream to come back to after a long day of shenanigans. The bathroom floor, get this, has heated floors! The bathtub was incredibly spacious, big enough to fit two people. The fireplace was also a great addition and made our stay wonderfully cozy. Breakfast is served at 8:30 and 9:15! You have to tell them which time you prefer. All food is gluten free and they are very accommodating, always asking if you have any food allergies, etc. The breakfast was delicious and they always have these wonderful treats at the tea/coffee station in the main house. The staff were incredibly nice and welcoming! I highly recommend this place for any couple looking for a sweet romantic getaway. The location is great as it's only about half a mile from downtown, close to a bunch of food eats & wine bars! Make sure to book early as there are only limited rooms/cottages.
