Love Hennessey Estate! Checked in on a Sunday and we almost had the whole estate to ourselves! Well maintained property, very clean, and quiet. Keep in mind there are no staff members on the site except for breakfast and at check in between 4-6p. Raphael was able to answer my questions via text. Free parking is a plus. I enjoyed the hot tub and the kitchen area that has tea, bottled and sparkling water and coffee. The fireplace in the room and skylight was a special touch. There are definitely pros and cons to this place. One thing to keep in mind is that it is more of an Airbnb than it is a hotel. There is no front desk and no one to greet you when you arrive. This was not an issue for me, but some people may not prefer it. Pros: Very responsive and accommodating hosts Rooms are beautiful and charming. Nicely updated Breakfast is included Close enough to downtown that you can walk, but not in the middle of all the noise Cons: Pool was not heated although it was said to be Spa jets did not work There were ants in my room. Small and not many, but still Here was the absolute worst part of my stay: The bathroom/shower experience was not great. There was hair all over the bathroom and shower when I arrived. I ended my night with a shower and after waiting about 10 minutes the water never got hot. It fluctuated from cold to lukewarm at best. The water pressure is also absolutely horrible. It kept going from a light stream to drips at times. I had to keep turning the water on and off to increase pressure. Additionally, the shower head would not stay upright. I tried everything and it kept going lower and lower. I would actually avoid the shower altogether if you can help it. It took AGES to wash my hair. You're better off with the sink since it has much better pressure. I would have been a little less upset about the shower and issues I experienced with everything else if there was someone on site to ask for help or assist me. To be fair, I didn't reach out with my issues so it is possible that they would have been very responsive and fixed the shower issue quickly. I would stay here again for the aesthetic and proximity, but everything else kind of put me off. read more

I cannot recommend staying at the Hennessey Estate enough. First off, the hotel has been recently totally redone and the rooms are spacious, modern, and well kept. The hotel has a relaxing vibe and given the limited number of rooms it feels like you have the hotel all to yourself. The breakfast each morning is delicious. And the proximity to downtown Napa really cannot be beat. The main motivation for writing this review, however, was how the hotel manager Raphael went above and beyond to help resolve an emergency during our proposal. Staying at a place where the management care to make your stay as great as possible really makes all the difference. Honestly, it was just alright. Nothing fancy, nothing notably special, it served its purpose. I booked us a room here so we wouldn't have to drive home after the Meat Carnival (it was all-you-can-eat and drink!). The location is amazing. Downtown is easily accessible and parking is free. If you need quiet to sleep, this might not be the spot for you. We could hear someone's music playing all night long and we didn't have neighbors so it was coming from downstairs. The bed appears comfortable at first lay, but quickly becomes uncomfortable. We just could not get comfortable all night and had a terrible time sleeping. Sadly, we were not able to enjoy the breakfast but it did smell delicious! Also sad they stopped doing the fresh cookies. We arrived around 4:15 and check-in is now self-check-in so it was easy enough. But it is definitely missing that personal flair of meeting someone on-site. I don't think we saw a single person our entire stay. We might stay here again but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

I have stayed here before - under previous ownership and if I had done the Yelp review at that time It would have been 5 stars. THIS ownership / management, whatever It is - doesn't even come close to comparing to my previous stay. They used to do personal check ins, homemade cookies, wine pours, cater breakfast to allergies, even offered to have breakfasts delivered to your rooms, actually clean the rooms, offer clean towels, TALK to the guests. All of that is gone. To check in they email you a code to your room - no one was even in the main house when I came to check in. They did not check for allergies with breakfast. Breakfast was BEYOND bland (2 eggs and toast). I have been here 3 days and our room has not been cleaned, no clean / fresh towels, no one has checked in on us, nothing. I've even called to ask for towels and no one answers the phone. The voicemail says to email them at info@hennessyhouse.com The TV is supposed to be mounted on the wall and it's not - there's areas in the bathroom that wall putty has been used to patch areas and It hasn't been repainted (tacky) For the amount of money this place is ($1400 for 3 days for me) I expect a lot better - even given the experience I had previously - at least consistency - these new owners are going to run this place to the ground. Everything that is typically personal about a bed and breakfast is gone. You can receive more assistance at a holiday inn. Unfortunately, we will not be back. read more

The owners of this B&B, who claim to be retired and unreachable directly, deserve to know what is going on at their business. We live on the far end of Brown street and used to send our family and friends to stay at HH because of the proximity to us and the downtown area. Not anymore. First, there are two vehicles parked in your lot that are a nuisance to your guests and your neighbors. Both cars won't pass inspection in CA because of their incredibly loud mufflers. These vehicles are being worked on in your lot or just outside of your lot (usually on Mondays), and are often driven around this area at high speeds. The person driving these cars, a male, also sleeps in his pick up truck. He should know this is a residential area and there are multiple schools within a 2 block radius. We have reached out to your manager months ago and this continues to be an issue. Separately, there are questionable vehicles and people that make stops at your business; dropping off people and waiting around for several hours. A couple of weks ago, it was a woman pacing back and forth in your lot for many hours with an infant and then urinating in the bushes on your property. A few weeks ago, a mercedes benz was waiting for someone for several hours; all of his windows were smashed in with a hammer. We've called the Napa police on these issues, but you deserve to know this is not a good look!!! read more

I had such a wonderful weekend here with my husband. He booked two nights and the location is perfect. The house is in walking distance of the down area, oxbow market, wine train, and river. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with lots of flowers and plants throughout. For cooler months they do have a sauna but we didn't use it on account of the heatwave. When you get there, you'll see a sign indicating parking and check in is in the back so just pull around the block. On arriving we were greeted and given a plate of homemade brownies as well as a general rundown of when and where breakfast is. They have both indoor and outdoor dining. You can request breakfast time and they start at 8:30. 5pm is wine and cheese hour, which can be delivered to the room. Lori was so friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We had an upstairs room with the most beautiful decorations and bathroom. The tub fit two comfortably and a bubble bath bottle was available. The bed was also very comfy and I liked the soft sheets they used. Breakfast is always a highlight for me at b&b and this place does it right. Our first morning we got an amazing southwest souffle, potatoes, mini cornbread with syrup glaze and fruit plate. Everything was delicious. They start coffee at 7am I believe. Overall this is a perfect place to stay when wine tasting in the area and I would highly recommend making a reservation. read more

My wife and I loved staying here. The owners (Lorri and Kevin) are very kind and genuine. Upon arrival, freshly baked cookies were waiting. It was a daily afternoon treat if you're around. Wine and cheese is provided if you want to sit outside and enjoy before you head out to dinner. A delicious breakfast is served every morning with coffee and or juice. Hard to beat a home cooked meal that seems to be made with love. We were asked upon arrival about any dietary preferences and they made sure to remind us that breakfast was made to our preferences. A sign that they are caring, considerate, and accommodating. Downtown Napa is literally a short 2-3 blocks away so all of our dining reservations were easily accessible and well within walking distance. The room was very clean and all the necessary amenities were there. True to what you might expect from the exterior look of the house, our room and the rest of the house had warm Victorian charm. It's relatively quiet, even with other guests staying there. You'll cross paths with each other in the morning hours or at wine and cheese, but everyone respectfully kept to themselves or just smiled with a casual greeting upon passing. We loved our stay here. The room had an antique kind of look and was beautiful. It was a bit odd that there was no TV but it was also kinda nice. The house was conveniently located near downtown so we could just walk over to all the shops and restaurants over there. The breakfast both days was delicious. We came for Bottlerock weekend and this was my first experience in Napa and I will be definitely be coming back. We had a bad experience with a hotel upon check in and called to see if Hennessy House had anything available. Spoke to Laurie on the phone and headed straight there. Upon arrival we were offered a cheese plate with a glass of wine. She went ahead and asked us when we would be here because she serves breakfast, mid day snack and dinner. Unfortunately we were only here for breakfast but i wish we were here for the other meals. Her food was delicious and whenever she'd serve you she have the best description of what was being served. The room was good until we tried to sleep. The pillows were terrible so much that we got no sleep. Then the next morning, there was no hot water do we could not take a shower. We would have been okay if the owners apologized or did something g other than say we will work on it. For this price, I would not recommend unless you don't want to sleep or shower. My two girlfriends and I enjoyed our first-ever Napa weekend together and stayed at Hennessey for one night last Saturday. Overall, it's an adorable little B&B in the best location, close enough to walk downtown to shops and restaurants and not more than about 15 minutes from an array of wineries! Checking in was easy--we parked in the small guest lot behind the House and found a staff member inside to help us. We were bummed that we had just missed wine and cheese hour, but the woman who gave us our key and showed us around was kind enough to send us to our room with a bottle of wine that was left over! We stayed in Fox's Den, which was the perfect accommodation for the three of us, since we had a king size bed and a rollaway, which was already set up for us. Having the private patio was nice, and being able to open up both of the double doors in our room allowed for ample air to flow through the room. It definitely has an old time-y vibe but with a lovely, vintage-y feel! The plumbing is quite old and the bathroom sinks leak and spread water all over the counter, but everything still works just fine. Breakfast the next morning was pretty tasty, and there were plenty of teas to choose from, as well as coffee, orange juice, milk and yogurt. I would have thought that we would have received more of a friendly greeting or chit chat about our stay upon sitting down at our table, but it looked as though the kitchen staff was quite busy. We enjoyed our quiches and fruit and chatted amongst ourselves and then relaxed in our room until we decided to pack up and head home. It was nice knowing that there was not a set check-out time, and if we had had a few extra hours, we would have taken advantage of the steam room and maybe tried the whirlpool tub in the room. We would love to stay here again on our next trip! It was just what we needed. read more

For my wife's birthday I booked the Napa Wine Train. Then found the Hennessey House which was with walking distance of the train station as well as many of best restaurants in Napa. My wife loved the Hennessey House as did I. It was a perfect stay. Lorri made us feel so welcomed during our check in. She asked all the right questions to ensure our stay would be most enjoyable. We stayed in the Dream Suite which was just that a dream. The beds ensured a good nights sleep. Our breakfasts were as good as any my mom ever made and the coffee was outstanding. My husband and I took a trip to Napa for his birthday in March. We found this little bed and breakfast and could not have been more delighted. It's Victorian charm and kind proprietors made for a lovely visit. Lori and Kevin are extremely gracious, providing us with a hot breakfast every morning, wine and cheese in the afternoon, and homemade chocolate chip cookies in the evening. The room was quaint. If you have stayed in a B&B then you know it's not the same as a hotel. It is like being a guest in someone's home so the furnishings look like you would find in a normal bedroom. There is no in room fridge but there is a Keurig coffee maker outside the door. My only disappointment was there was no dresser in the room. Fortunately, the space was big enough for me to leave my suitcase open and out of the way. There was a little electric fireplace that added ambiance as well as warmth. Clearly the best part was being treated like a friend just visiting for the weekend. It's also worthwhile noting that the water was hot for showers (a definite plus since it doesn't always happen when you stay in a B&B) and while I loved the cast iron tub, my husband is a little wider than I am and found the floor of the tub a little narrow. (It's Victorian!) The location is perfect and there were no problems coming and going even late and early. Absolutely recommend! We had a wonderful visit. I love Hennessey House! It's a very charming old world inn located in Napa Main St. The location is unbeatable for those who like to be within a comfortable walking distance of downtown. Downtown is lively and scenic with excellent scenic creek-side eateries. It is 20 minutes drive to the hip wineries in St. Helena. The house itself is right next to a beautiful venue called Jarvis conservatory in a quiet residential area filled with quaint homes. It is decorated with beautiful old style colonial furniture, warm and cozy, maintained with loving care. Lorri is super sweet and welcoming. She bakes every day and had a warm choco chip cookie treat waiting for my son at check in. The home made breakfast is served piping hot and is simply superb. I loved the eggs baked in ramekins and seasoned with sauces and herbs. The wine and cheese combo in the evening is also very good. The quality of cheese is excellent, it goes down every easy. Watch out, this can get very filling! The foxglove den where we stayed is detached from the main house and is equipped with an old stove style heater and independent air conditioner so there is no risk of central air system and hence covid friendly. It is beautifully furnished in shabby chic style, has a small private garden and huge jacuzzi tub. The garden is very rustic, not landscaped and the patio furniture is a tad rusty - some room for improvement here. It is reasonably priced considering that it is in Napa. The service is very down to earth and friendly. Lorri goes over and above to make sure you have everything you need. She was especially kind and attentive to my son. I admire her for running this place almost single handedly. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here hugely and would definitely come back. read more

I am highly recommending the Hennessey House Bed and Breakfast in Napa Valley if you are looking for an intimate, cozy and friendly place to stay for a few days. The owners, Kevin and Lorri are amazing hosts, from the moment I booked the place, I spoke to both of them on the phone and I was immediately drawn to their personable characters. "You will be checking in on my daughter's birthday so maybe it's a sign it's going to be lucky for you " Lorri said, and indeed it was. When we got there, the historical Victorian home was the ideal vacation place taking us back to the timeless past of the era. We stayed at the Sage Creek room which was located in a different section of the property with stairs leading up to its own private entrance. We parked right next to the room- so convenient. It was nice to see a bottle of cherry and chocolates to welcome us. The bed was comfortable, fireplace, two separates bathroom sinks, high ceiling. You get the peacefulness and tranquility you would not get staying in any hotel. They offered an afternoon wine and cheese and breakfast was intricately prepared early in the morning by Lorri to your fancy. You have the option to sit inside the family dining room with the other guests or outside where you can smell and indulge in the beautiful manicured garden that Kevin takes care of so well. We were greeted upon our arrival with the notice that Happy Hour was about to start, there would be wine and cheese waiting for us on the patio once we checked in and stashed our luggage. What a way to begin a stay. We spent 3 nights in the Paisley Room on the ground floor. Our queen bed was comfortable. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom was interesting as you had to step down into the shower and the toilet had the original water supply. This is an old house, nicely restored. They provide free wi-fi, both in the main house and in the carriage house out back. Breakfast was of the quality you would expect from a top of the line B&B. Something different every morning. Plenty of food to start the day right. There was a TV in the common room, but it was on only one night out of the three. read more

Upon arrival at the Hennessey House, I knew it would be my go-to place to stay in Napa - I instantly felt welcomed thanks to the incredible staff (Lynn, you're awesome!). The house is so very charming, it's like something out of a storybook and located right on Main Street with easy access to all the shops, restaurants and tasting rooms of downtown Napa. My room was adorable and spacious with a sitting area in front of the window. Breakfast each morning was amazing and filling, starting with fruit before the main entrée (the French toast soufflé was my favorite) and a choice of yogurt and granola for those in the mood for it. If you're around in the afternoon there's tea along with freshly made cookies and the daily evening wine hour offers a great opportunity to get to know the fellow guests. Each room also has sherry and chocolate for a nightly treat. I'd already arranged for my own tours prior to arrival, but the staff is available to assist with any arrangements you might need during your stay. I'll be recommending this place to everyone I know and I've already reserved a room for my visit next May. read more

We stayed here for one night. There were three of us and we had the upstairs room with a separate nook that worked well. They have a lovely claw foot bathtub and a toilet with a chain pull. The rooms were small, but suitable for us and they do have a wardrobe to hang items. We came in the middle of the wine tasting, which was a nice way to be greeted and they had some knowledge of to what we were drinking and some treats that paired well. When we got to our room, we found sherry and chocolates waiting, another nice treat. There are several fish in the house, a list of all of them with names and reasons was on our breakfast table. For breakfast, we were served a southwest style egg dish with a side of mango salsa and corn muffins. (If you are picky as to what you eat, ask them for something different, they are happy to help). Parking is available on the street or they have a small lot around back. Although a little pricey, it is Napa and they do it up nice so give them a chance if you are looking for an alternative to regular hotels when in the area. read more

This review is long overdue. I visited in July and opted to reserve the Fox's Den after looking at the room themes online. This room used to be the old carriage house and it's great for ultimate privacy. It's located behind the B&B in a separate building and also has its own private patio (lovely!). I pre-ordered a champagne package and a fruit & cheese platter package (see photo). Remarkable selection of cheeses and I would highly recommend this for a room picnic or to be enjoyed on the patio! The Hosts were very gracious. I arrived earlier than expected and was happy I was able to check into the room early. Breakfast was lovingly made by the proprietor's daughter. It was a phenomenal Baked French toast with berries (see photo). Much more food than I needed :). The location is walking distance to downtown Napa for food or shopping. Parking in the rear is very convenient and close to the Fox's Den room. Highly recommended!! read more
