I've been to plenty of other Menards locations over the years and do a fair amount of shopping there. Lately, though, I've found myself going to Home Depot a little more often. Part of the reason is that Menards doesn't always carry the tool brands I prefer. The other issue is loading larger materials. Unless you're purchasing from the outdoor lumber yard, there isn't a convenient loading area. For example, if you buy a 4×8 sheet of plywood from inside the store, loading it into your vehicle can be a challenge. The Menards location in Franklin has a designated loading area for these types of purchases, and I find that much more convenient. I'd love to see a similar setup at this store. Other than those issues, Menards is still a good choice for many of the home improvement items I regularly buy. read more

Although they tend to have what one needs, we can NEVER find someone to help - esp on the weekends. Home Depot is a far better choice if you want someone who earnestly cares about your actual needs. Last weekend (SAT) my husband needed to pick up some something at Menards in WB and he encountered a dreadfully stressed man working in the pick up yard. The man was not just abrupt, he was downright rude. I don't care if you are overworked or stressed, treat your customers as though you CARE that we choose to SPEND MONEY at Menards, or we will shop elsewhere. Horrible! read more

My experience at this Menards was terrible. I was just trying to return some lightbulbs that I mistakenly grabbed the wrong ones at the customer service desk. I was dealing with an older lady. The moment I walked up to her I felt uncomfortable by the way that she was looking at me she seem like she was frightened or did something to her. I asked her if she can leave the lightbulbs at this desk while I run to get the lightbulbs that I needed. She wanted to return it first and give me a certificate to re-buy the new ones. I explained to her that this was a company card and that I can't do things like that and that I would like to just grab the bulbs that I need and just do a return at the customer service so she shoved the receipt in my face and got upset with me so I asked to speak to her manager and she got a manager that was working her last day and she also was rude to me as well, I would hate to have to say it, but I felt like there was some races shit going on here. read more

I bought a refrigerator in October, still do not have it. Mine is leaking all over and doesn't keep thing cool. This is what they said, "unfortunately, we are not able to change or sub an item." Seriously... can't make a new receipt? Always been a favorite place. read more

Seriously, who doesn't like to save big money??? I do and I often feel that I am doing just that when I shop Menards. Okay, hearing the jingle over the PA system 18 times in a half hour shopping trip is kind of annoying, but I have gotten to the point where I just sing along (and sometimes beatbox badly.) The customer service here is pretty super. I think either the employees are contractually obligated to say "Hello" to any customer within a 15 foot radius or people just really want to be my friend, because I seem to get a smile and "how-de-do" every few minutes. This is extremely helpful on the odd occassion when I can't find an item. The only time I was at a loss to find an item, or an employee to help, I went to the service desk and they not only told me EXACTLY where the item would be, but also checked the inventory level on the computer to ensure that it was in stock. BTW: I got the last one! I win!!!!! Love all of the rebates offered throughout the year and the 2% rebate on all purchases with the store card at the end of the year. The location is awesome with returns. The store even has a computer where you can look up your purchases and print out a receipt for returns. Yippee! You don't have to be stuck keeping crap you don't want just because a receipt is lost! Yes, I am a dorky homeowner who enjoys a trip to the Menards on a Saturday or Sunday. Quite a day. I prefer Menard's over Home Depot, also in my town. I'm used to it, HD feels like a warehouse, and it's not as dark. I don't know what others are talking about, I can always find someone. They do have other things to do, you know, they're not going to be falling out of the trees and hovering, again like HD. I love the freezer box specials: brats, pizzas, etc. sometimes you can get some good frozen food deals there. I've also never run into anyone who is rude. Maybe it's just my state, where people are generally more polite? *shrugs* Also, what is up with someone griping about masks? really?? give one star for a lousy dollar or dollar and a half mask? time to grow up. The garden center in the spring is awesome, they take good care of their potted plants. Saturday mornings are a mad house, because, duh, everyone is off on the weekend, I guess, so I go some other time or just deal with it. I always find the staff eager to help and I have found their prices and products equal to the store across the street. If I need to return something, I have never had a problem at Menards and its my go to for DYI home projects. Spend a ton of money every spring for landscaping/lawn products as well. read more

Just wanted to share how Menards Corp handles customer service issues. They are terrible and I think everyone should know about ordering anything special order. The store employees are great but product shipped from Corp is terrible. See attached email exchanges. Spencer, I'm very sorry, and you are more than welcome to return any fencing panels you are not happy with. Thank you, Ray __________________________________________________________________ Many of the boards are cracked as well not just moldy. I guess when I was buying new panels I didn't think that they would be full of mold or discoloration. The panels that you present online in pictures and in stores in the fencing department certainly don't show mold on them and I am sure you would have a bit of trouble selling them if they were presented that way. I don't see lines of customers running to Menards to buy molding fencing so they can them spend hours bleaching the wood with chemicals or scrubbing with a wire brush and soapy water. These are the only ways to remove mold from wood. Mold however is not going to harm the wood in most cases, however we can both agree looks terrible. The moldy boards are my major concern as well as the quality of the wood, many of the boards were cracked or of poor lumber quality. A few pieces were certainly rotten, however this only made up a few panels 5-10. The wood actually started to degrade to the point of chipping apart and breaking upon handling. Your delivery driver even made a comment to me and my contractor that this wood was better served for fire wood than fencing material. I trust the carpenter that I hired to put up the fence and he made the same comment. I just wanted to point out this problem in hopes that Menards could do something to prevent other from experiencing the same problems I ran into. All I want is fencing product that I can proudly display in my yard, free from ugly moldy and cracked wood. I don't think that if you displayed moldy cracked boards in your stores in the fencing departments your sales would be very good. I think if this is the nature of the product that maybe Menards should be displaying a moldy discolored board in the fence department. However at this point I'm sure I just sound like a upset ranting customer and that's surely not what I am trying to do, I am only trying to convey my concerns for what I feel was poor quality product. All I want is to have the bad boards replaced with ones that look like the fencing product displayed in your stores. That is all, if Menards feels like taking any further action in the form of monetary discount it would be appreciated but not necessary. I have spent a lot and I mean a lot of money at Menards more than probably 100 of your average customers put together. I really think that your staff at the west bend location does a great job for the most part. However the issues that I have had in the past all stem from special orders. Example- The tiles several months ago took over a month to get and more than half the tiles were broken. Your store handled this issue very well and was very apologetic. This was just very disappointing and discourages me from making any special orders from Menards.
