Worst product quality and customer service! We purchased over $2K in concrete pavers from Menards. Upon installation (while watering the pavers to activate the locking sand), every paver developed a rust-colored substance oozing out of them. Since we laid several hundred (thousands of pounds), we could not just pick them all up and carry them back to the store for exchange. We immediately contacted the store and reached out to the manufacturer. After providing pictures and videos of the issue, the manufacturer said that "Iron Oxide" in their aggregate was causing the pavers to stain. They instructed us to mail Menards an "Installed Complaint Form." We sent the letter on 5/30/24, and Menards responded via US mail on 6/14/24, copying the manufacturer and asking them to come up with a resolution. After waiting 40+ additional days, on 7/22/24, Midwest Manufacturing finally responded with a letter, saying all they could do is send Menards replacement pavers. We would then have to pick them up from the store (even though we already paid to have the original order delivered), pay our contractor (again) to rip up and replace the bad pavers (plus dispose of them). How Menards and Midwest Manufacturing think we as consumers should have to pay TWICE for their quality issues is mind-boggling. Buyer beware! If you plan to purchase materials from Menards that cannot be easily brought back to the store for return/exchange, you will be out a lot of time and money. Just got back from not spending money at Menards in St Peters. I went there to buy a specific item their online ad claimed was on display in that store, which it wasn't, and that stock was located in the mezzanine. The ad also stated that, in order to buy this item, a customer had to get help from the hardware service desk. Well, the desk was no help, probably because there were no employees there. There was, however, an employee two aisles away in the fasteners section of the hardware department. I said, "Excuse me, I'd like to buy one of these." and showed him on my phone, the online listing for the item. He looked at the listing and told me I had to go to the hardware department for help. When I pointed out we were both standing in the hardware department and that there was no one at the hardware service desk, he gave me a blank look so I just said, "Forget it" and headed for the exit. The employee ordered me to stop...twice. When I told him to go away and leave me alone he replied, "NO!" and again demanded I stop. I had to shout as loud as I could to get him to stop harassing me! The "manager" I spoke to at the service counter was no better help. I get it, an employee can't always help a customer, but you don't tell them to go where they already are. You say, "I'm sorry, I can't help you, but please let me find someone who can/will." And never chase a customer through the store, demanding anything of them, especially one that already told you to forget it. Absolutely the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. I ordered a building from Menards after specifically making sure they deliver. After assuring they do, I placed the order and paid it in full. Delivery driver CALLS me stating he does not want to deliver the barn to my residence as I reside on a gravel road (very well maintained). He never arrived at my residence, just looked at an old Google image from several years ago prior to any property clearing in the area. I attempted to advise him several times the property does not look like the image but he still refused. I spoke with the General Manager Mr. Taylor who was extremely rude and refused to refund me the 25 percent re-stocking fee because the order had to be cancelled. I could not pick up the barn myself, hence, I ordered it believing it would be delivered. The company continues to LIE to BBB and Attorney Generals Office and it will now end up in small claims court. This company is a complete joke and continues to make excuses. DO NOT pay for any products and absolutely no buildings! IF they decide they do not want to deliver it, they take the freedom to only refund you 75 percent and steal the rest and there is absolutely nothing you can do. In large purchases such as buildings, this is a lot of money. Awful business practice!! (Folding chairs include one for a 9 footer with 6 cup holders) I bought a flexible rubber pail for "kicking the bucket" for $13 (pic). A power assisted wheel barrel (pic). Lighting fixtures, plumbing fixtures, hardware, building supplies, garden supplies (overall) I found very competitive pricing and HUGE selection. The General store had good prices, but little selection. "Got Milk?" Yes, but only Prairie Farms brand. Want some clothes? How about a "wicking" Polo for $16 (pic)? While I was asked if I needed help often... The overall attitude of the company is "do it yourself". From the checkout conveyor belt running away from the checker to a "self-bagging center" (pic) TO the drive-in & load it yourself lumberyard... Placed a pick up order. Received the email that it's ready. After we arrived and got checked in, the employee went missing for 15 mins looking for our stuff. Another employee asked if we'd been helped. We told her what was going on. She left to look for our items and was gone another 5 mins. Finally, both came back to say it'll our items had not been pulled and they would go get them now. The second employee acted like it was our fault. She apologized but added "I did my job. The store was overall pretty neat and clean. The selection of bathroom cabinets was fairly small, but seemed comparably priced. I went for pet supplies I love the higher end brand name food they carry but also carry your average brand you'd find at Walmart! The have a great pet med section!! My kitty I recently found/rescued on my doorstep had mites in her ears. Not only did they carry an actual medicine and not just an ear wash but the price was shockingly low!! What I bought and returned to petco for 32.00 was just an ear wash, here at menards you get the actual medicine for 6.99. When I first started going to Menards I was in wonder at how well everything there was ran. So when we purchased our home that was the only place I really considered. We were going to buy our appliances at another vender but with the 11% rebate it was a little cheaper. That would give us a little money for some wants in our reno being done. Well we bought the 4k worth of appliances in November and they have continued to refuse us our rebate. Now I have paid more for my appliances than I should have and I don't get anything on my want list. I think they use the rebate to sucker people in and then just claim they didn't get them. I say that because I have gotten all of my smaller rebates just not the one big one. Naturally when you go to Menards they say "it is not our responsibility". That is not the only problem I have had with them either. I tried to purchase baseboards from them. I paid for the order and delivery then waited for my product to come in. I got a call that said "some" of the baseboards were in. So I said order the others and we will do it all at one time. Got another call that said they still had not all come "in good quality". I could take some mildly damaged boards and have them repaired. REALLY. These are just 2 of the problems. read more

I will never shop at this store again we had bought carpet 5months ago when I first had to track my order they said it was there but when I called the store they said it was backed ordered still but my tracking said it was at the store ..the finally found it after I called and said it was there. Then after both my husband and I got covid / him a heart attack we were finally able to get a carpet installer to come granted it was 5months but we never removed packaging it sat in inside my home. He told us he could not install this carpet because it was for concrete floors had to be glued down and if we went to remove it in a few years it would mess up our wood floors. We had asked the guy at the store when we bought this if this rubber backing carpet would be a problem and he said no! That was a lie everyone that I talked to that has laid carpet or that has had it says do not use unless it's on concrete or plan on putting new sub floor. So at first the assistant manager sure bring it back we will exchange it by the time we got home they called back and said no now they won't cause its been cut! Menards picked up a sale when Lowe's dropped the ball. Lowe's did a horrible job trying to sell me a dishwasher and I had to walk out of the store. I went to Menards because I knew they had the same item in stock. When I got there it was a bit confusing as the dishwashers are kind of off to their own due to construction. There was no one around and I wasn't sure where to go and I ended up in the paint department. The woman that helped me did her job, and did it well even though it wasn't her department. It turns out that the palate that the dishwasher was on had gotten lost due to construction. She and another employee spent 20 minutes trying to find it. And they did! The wait wasn't fun, but it was worth it to get the washer. I really appreciate their effort and I wish I had gotten their names, but it was a man from the paint department and a woman with braces from the paint department. They were great and got the job done, and done well. read more

YOU HAVE A BIG PROBLEM On March 5, 2021, my husband and I came into your store off Spencer road in St. Peters MO. We went to the dishwasher area, found a person to help, found the dishwasher we wanted and mad SURE that there were NO handles (because of our space in the kitchen) ordered it and paid for it.... NOW THE FUN BEGINS The dishwasher came and we contacted out installer. On March 13 she came and opened the box Your people delivered the wrong dishwasher! Even after verifying with the salesclerk that we HAD to have no handle. We still had to still pay the installer for their time. I called this *** ADAN at the store. He first tried to say that WE ordered the wrong one, then tried to push off a cheaper machine (it's not the money dude) and when I said we wanted what we ordered and after that was decided I said because of the aggravation and all I would like it if he gave us the water supply hose ($20 item) He flat out refused! ; I DON'T DO THAT when I asked why? SEVERAL times he YELLED I DON'T GIVE AWAY PRODUCT! I asked So you are willing to lose an $800 sale over this. He said YES! So, I said come get this and give me my money... After LOTS of email ALL they would do it give me my money LESS the rebate I HAVE NOT EVEN GOTTEN. I I told him I DO NOT want YOUR rebate I have NO intention of EVER shopping with you again...EVER! I still do not have my refund (less the rebate) in my account! Customer service on Spencer Rd. was horrible today. Ordered lumbar last week. Called today to see if in. Was on hold one hour and 5 min for someone to check. No one ever came back to phone so I had to go up to the store w/ the phone still ringing on forever hold. Did not appreciate the forever hold. When I got there, no one cared how long I had been on hold. Never going to shop there again!!! It's not the first time either. They Never have a salesperson on the floor and when you get one, it's either not their department or they're so rude, you'd rather find it yourself. They just don't care about their customers at all! The managers are no better. If you want a job, apply here. They probably hire anyone because it's such a poorly run store. Employees just don't give a flying leap about you or your business. This place has pretty much everything, maybe even too much stuff. But I like it and I also like that they carry things in store that HD or Lowes have to special order. I also like there gun safe selection and cabinets for your kitchen. Also they have 12' sections of countertop when the other stores sometimes stop at 8'. I haven't been approached by a sales person while here but than again I hate when I just want to browse and get hounded and have to say I don't need help. My theory is if I look lost, dazed and confused then approach me but otherwise I am doing fine. The check out process is straight up weird but I guess it works because they have obviously been doing it for a while. But it just weirds me out. They also have a massive clearance section that has some pretty good stuff for some pretty good prices and yes it is like a black hole you will get sucked in. read more

Awful business practices. I intended to buy a top of the line sliding miter saw today now that the 11% rebate was on. I looked at the price in the mornings. It was $399 then. This afternoon it was $529. I brought a printout of the screen showing this mornings price, with today's date from the system clock, and the rebate info so they knew it was current. The manager ignored me and said he only cares about the current web site price. Previously I had talked to someone on the phone who said to bring a screen capture in, but no one there admitted to being that person. In short its basically bate and switch plus a side of lies. There are probably worse big box stores somewhere but I've never been to one. This is the most dishonest retailer I've dealt with in years. (It's probably the most dishonest retailer I've ever dealt with but I may be forgetting someone from decades ago so I'll say "most dishonest in years" instead of "ever".) Check and double check every transaction with them because they seem to see nothing wrong with keeping your money for an item that they know they didn't sell you. It's also very hard to get help, even compared to other big box stores (which is a low standard because most are pretty bad about that). I ordered an item online. First, it didn't show that the item was a display item until after I paid and checked out. They also didn't disclose restocking fees if I cancelled the order or the fees if I didn't pick the item up until after I placed my order, when it was too late to back out without getting hit with lots of fees. I've never had that experience with online ordering. Some places sell display items but that's disclosed on the page where you put it in your cart. Same with restocking or cancellation fees: you have to be careful but the info is there if you look (which I did but it wasn't there for Menard's). It is, at best, very misleading. I don't like places that hide the ball instead of being honest and transparent about the transaction and Menard's is the worst retailer I've dealt with on that score. Then they cancelled the item because it was out of stock. That's fine. (Even though I probably could have bought it a few days before when I was at the store but could not find anyone to help me find what I was looking for and gave up.) But they didn't tell me that they'd cancelled it. So I waited until a day or so after it was supposed to have been in and called, bc I was worried that if I didn't pick it up on time, they'd charge me a restocking fee even though they'd never notified me that it was in. Instead, I found out that the order had been cancelled (the day after I ordered it) but they never bothered to call or email me to let me know even though they've spammed my inbox with their ads ever since I ordered so they clearly have my email address and use it regularly, just not for anything but trying to sell me more stuff. The real kicker was that, even though they'd cancelled my order (weeks before I came in), they had still charged my debit card for the item after they cancelled. They didn't cancel the charge to my card when I talked to the person on the phone, either. They didn't cancel the charge until I went in and talked to their service department in person. When I asked for an explanation, I was told that they were waiting for me to come in to find out about the item. (Even though I had called in and was told that Menard's didn't have the item and had cancelled the order.) WTF? How in the world is it OK to charge me for an item that you don't have and don't intend to give me? The employees (talked to three) all seemed to think that this was ok that they didn't take the charge off at the time the order was cancelled because they did when I came in. I have NEVER had a retailer completely cancel an order but keep the charge on my card. So it's ok for you to steal from me because if I catch you and jump through some hoops you've put up, you'll give me my money back but only if I ask for it. Otherwise, you'll keep the money knowing full well that you never gave me the items I paid for. I wouldn't trust anyone who works at Menard's because apparently this is standard procedure for them that they see no reason to change it. They didn't seem to get why this is dishonest or why I'd be upset about it. Everyone kept addressing Menard's cancelling my order, as if THAT was what was messed up about this and that was why I was upset. Maybe they hoped that if they kept ignoring that Menard's never notified me that they cancelled my order and was still trying to charge me for something they had no intention of giving me, I'd forget it or something. I don't know bc it's really messed up no matter why they did that. It's even worse bc I am visibly disabled and going in is hard for me, much less standing in the long line to talk to someone. (I had tried to go in about my order earlier but had to give up bc I was in so much pain standing in their long, slow line.) They were happy to take advantage of a totally disabled person who has trouble going to their store or waiting in their long lines. I don't see how anyone could trust them or why they'd want to support those business practices by shopping there. So sleazy. read more

I've been to the St. Peters location quite a few times by now. Its been just okay for the most part. The wood selection is the best feature. I made my first major purchase there recently, their Concerto porcelain tile with the 'flute' coloring. We decided to use the 6.5 inch tile to do an entire bathroom. It wasn't until I emptied all seven boxes and started mixing them that I noticed these are not true 6.5 inch tiles. Instead these are 13 inch tiles that are cut into four pieces. The end result is each piece has two beveled edges and two cut edges. The sizes are more irregular than anything I've worked with. I've installed quite a few tile floors over the years and never seen such a poor quality product. What a joke. Now I have to decide if it is worth packing it all up to return and then go find something else vs just using it. I'm sure they have some quality stuff there but I would recommend paying especially close attention to the quality of their tile before buying any. I can't believe anyone sells tile like this. It makes me wonder if any of their other products are just as crappy. While I have not written them off entirely, they will not be high on my list for finding materials in the future. read more

He also assisted in showing us how to use the self-service saw to saw our own lumber--a benefit at Menards we didn't know about! We tried to tip him for great service, but he refused. My experience at the St. Peters Missouri location was abominable & actually still unresolved. I bought a dryer there & paid for it to be connected at the home. The delivery personnel did NOT connect the dryer; they dropped it off & left. I called Menard's St. Peter's that day. Kara took my call, said she was busy & promised to call me back. She did not. Two hours layer, I called again & spoke with John I'm delivery. He confirmed that I had indeed paid for the connecting of the dryer but because I had used a Avis gift card for the purchas, he was unsure as to how to process a refund of the charge in question. He placed me on hold to transfer me to Amanda (a manage). I was left on hold for another 10 minutes. I finally hung up & called back for the 4th time & spoke with Kaitlin (a manager) who informed me that I have to physically present myself at the store in order to receive the refund that is due me. It will literally cost me $20 in gas just to drive there. So not only did Menard's cause tge problem but now I have to go way out of my way for them to "fix it." Absolutely inconvenient & unnecessary if they had simply performed the service for which I paid in the first place. read more
