Yikes...checkout folks are having problems finding prices on many things that aren't tagged. Cashier had no idea what to do when one of our items didn't have a tag so we had to pull out of the line and go figure it out ourselves. Got mostly a blank stare from her and the manager. He sort of offered to go up there but my husband was already all the way up to the department and back by them. Poor customer service. Why could they not simply call someone in the department to help?? We told her exactly what department it was from. read more

Menards is the best. Amazon is not cheaper. Workers are friendly and helpful. You don't have to do your own checkout.

To begin, I love shopping at Menards but today was a terrible experience. I wanted to rent their pickup and first was told "insurance, drivers license & credit card have to all be in the same name." In this case I was helping someone move something & he wanted to pay. (For the record I've gone to other Menards and had someone else pay) Then they said they couldn't accept a letter directly from my insurance company stating I have insurance coverage (I don't own a car but carry insurance, insurance company doesn't issue a card in my situation). Again, for the record, I've rented numerous times from other Menards & had no issues. Do yourself a favor & find another location. The assistant front desk supervisor wasn't willing to even hear my explanation, simply dismissed me. read more

I came to this location because I am from out of town and needed to run in quick. The staff is very friendly and helpful and I was in and out quick. The store looked great and I will be back next time I am around town. read more

On a recent Sunday, we were shopping at this location of Menards. Among our $300 in purchases we made were 25 bags of mulch. It was not in stock, but we were assured it would be the next day. We purchased it, planning to come back the next day to pick up the order. The next day we called to inquire about the status of the stock, were told that there were 150 bags in stock and to come on over, so we did. We went straight to the lumber yard to find it, had no luck. At one point, we were almost involved in a crash, when a forklift operator came flying around a blind corner at a really high speed, not even watching where he was going. It wasn't the same operator that I witnessed ALMOST hit a car -by inches- on Sunday. That one had backed out from a display without looking where he was going, had no idea there was a parked car behind him until the driver honked. The forklift driver started swearing up a storm right in front of me, cursing out the driver. Very unprofessional! I digress. We eventually found the display, and it was empty. I waited in the car while my husband went to talk to the orders desk to find out where these 150 bags were. Apparently there was a "mix up" with the person who'd told us there was 150 bags, they'd been earmarked for delivery. At this point, we'd wasted about an hour of our time, between driving to Menards, and looking for the display. The person my husband dealt with was rude, unapologetic, and would do nothing to help him. As I was the one who talked to a clerk on the phone, my husband asked me to come in and talk to him. I approached the kiosk, and asked for what the story was at this point, and I was told the above. I asked what we could do about it, feeling VERY unimpressed that we were having our time wasted. The employee said that we could come back tomorrow. We tried to offer multiple solutions - including only picking up half of the order - he refused to do anything about it, and made no suggestions himself. He stood there with his hands in his pockets, shrugging his shoulders the whole time. He was incredibly dismissive, and it was really poor customer service. I asked for the store to have it delivered. I was did not like the idea of coming in again, given the amount of time we'd wasted DESPITE being told that it was in stock. He made a rude comment about how HE wasn't going to be paying delivery on a $60 order. First of all, I don't think the amount of the order should matter. We were VERY inconvenienced by this "mistake", and I think something more than "try coming back tomorrow" should have happened. We ended up wasting 3 hours on this that night - 6 total, as there were two of us - and our time is worth more than $60, or however much it would have been to deliver. Secondly, the mulch was $60, the actual order was $300 - we had already picked most of it up. Decent customer service and acknowledgment of the fact that Menards screwed up and that we were being inconvenienced as customers shouldn't be contingent on a particular order being of a certain size. I asked multiple times what he could do for us beyond "come back tomorrow", as I was really unhappy about the idea of gambling our time a second day in a row, He refused to answer anything. Asked multiple yes or no questions, we were told that he doesn't need to give us an answer. At one point, he made an obnoxious comment about my husband "having to call his wife in to deal with it for him". I asked for a manager, he informed me that he was the manager. I asked who his superior was, he stated that he did not have one, that he was the store's main manager. It kind of came off like he was lying to us at that point, which did not help matters. It was beyond apparent that he had no desire to do anything but further waste our time, so we took our "piddly" $60 order up to the front and had it cancelled and refunded. We decided to go buy it from Home Depot instead. I have never dealt with customer service so bad in my life. For him to repeatedly insult our time, to outright insult my husband... I've certainly never heard of anyone making it to a management position with NO grasp on customer service at all. I decided to call the store to get his full name and verify that he was actually the main store manager, and had no superior. When I called, I was told that the store's main manager was named Steve - NOT Ben (the one we'd been dealing with was Ben), and that Ben was just an assistant manager. From what we were told when we called, Steve had been in the store at the time this was happening, but left 2 minutes before I called. I would hope that Steve has better customer service skills than Ben. I was upset to have not only been lied to, but to not have had the opportunity for someone else to look at what happened. read more

Not one person available to help with new countertop and sink order. Plenty of people in uniform aimlessly on staff. We spent 30 minutes trying to get assistance. Finally left to go elsewhere. Prefer to give money to those who want to help. read more

Trying to by an appliance no staff in the counter top and appliance section. Ask other staff for help finding staff. No luck there either. Lost a $1600 dollar sale. Painful experience. Then I go to customer service they are standing around talking. I get direct eye contact from the customer service agent who turns and walks away. This store has serious problems. Management should be fired and a new culture created. I shop at menards, Fridley, all the time. I have never seen anything like this. read more

ugh. I am not normally one to write a bad review of a spot, but I experienced such bad customer service from several people at this store, I felt compelled. I bought a shelf from Menards last week. When I tried to assemble it over the weekend, one of the components was missing. Which is not a huge deal. So I went in on Monday and asked the customer service desk person what I should do. She said I should talk to someone in the hardware section. I walked over to the hardware section to see if there was anything that could be done, the guys were nice enough, but said that they did not have that component in the hardware section. I went over to shelving, I could not find anyone in shelving, so I went over to the next section over, and someone at the desk said they would send someone over to help me. I waited 10 minutes and ended up flagging someone down. They said they did not work in this section, but he would bring me to someone who could help me. The next thing I know, this young man is speed walking to another section, I have a knee injury thats not obvious, but it slightly impairs my mobility so I walk a little slower than the average gal. I had to jog to catch up to this kid, he was 3 aisles away before I finally catch up, and he started to take me to the guys in hardware. I told him that I already talked to the hardware guys, and he said, well you will have to call the manufacturer. This took at least 25 minutes to figure out. But here is the final straw I went online to find out who the manufacturer of the shelving was, and it is Menards, the shelving unit was an instore brand. So now I am on the website, trying to figure out who to call. If someone would have taken the time to walk over to the shelving area with me so I could have shown them the model, it would have saved me a lot of hassle. Update: Just tried calling the store twice, could not get a hold of anyone. Will stop in tomorrow to see if I can talk to someone. read more

The new store is so much nicer than the previous store. However, the thing I can't understand is why Menards has these big sales with 11% off - but they make the customer go through the hassle of filling out coupons, mailing it in and then waiting for your rebate. Why not just give the 11% off at the register??? I know you're expecting a certain number of people to not send it in - but seriously - this is the least customer friendly sales tactic I've seen in years! Most retailers have finally figured out that they shouldn't make customers jump through these ridiculous hoops. read more

This menards can be quite confusing to find what your looking for but I've found the employees to be pretty helpful in locating products. Check out could be a little faster but they usually hire high schoolers and it's usually their first job so I give them credit for trying. read more

St. Louis Park Menards is newly remodeled, very clean and has an abundance of products. All that said, it sounds like it would be great...the problem is the staff is extremely slow to help, uneducated in the products and often rude. I would recommend driving the Extra half-mile across 394 to visit Home Depot where the service is excellent. read more

customer service is awful. I walked out on a 400 dollar rug purchase because it was impossible to get some help. A call to the store manager was useless. He simply didn't care. Don't know what happened in the last couple of years to the Menards in the area, but they all seem to focus on hiring the worse employees in the area. I really want to like Menards because I grew up going there in my hometown. I keep trying it and am always disappointed. I was there last Sunday and the zombie-like staff either ignores you or grunts at you and points in the general direction of what you're looking for. Luckily I went to Trader Joe's after-wards and they made me feel welcome and well taken care of again. There are plenty of options when we go out to shop - if you can give better service we don't have to come back! read more

I'm finally a fan. Like many, i hated the pure size and inconvenience of the new Menards, especially the 1.5 minutes it takes for a cart to take the "escalator" up to electric, but I have been there twice in the past week for lumber and I appreciate a place that has enough and enough quality that you don't leave with junk. Not my experience at the Dome Depot that is twice as close to home base. I still think it's crazy for a hardware store to sell food but no DeWalt tools, but I know where to go for DeWalt -- and for food, for that matter and it's not to a hardware store. Good service and nice conditions in the yard. And that's what really matters in the end. read more

It is beyond me why they would build such a huge store and then not hire enough staff to cover it. We avoid this store whenever we can. We always have to walk around just looking for someone to help us. We waiting an hour in carpet dept waiting for assistance that never came so we finally left. Whenever we go to Home Depot, we have staff asking us in every isle if we need assistance; what a difference in stores. read more

Non existent customer service. Worse than Lowe's or Home Depot! They walk like zombies and avoid eye contact with customers.

Ended up at Ace Hardware and found what I needed in stock. Needed one of the draft stopper things to keep air conditioning IN my apartment and not cooling the whole building. After searching everywhere for a human, I was told that these are "seasonal". The only thing that is seasonal is that .50 is heat and .50 is air conditioning. read more
