I bought over the telephone 2 collectors Majestic Christmas trees. Our store didn't have any more so he gave me phone numbers of other stores in other towns. One of the stores I called looked up on the computer and told me which stores had them and how many. The closest one (85 miles away) had 7 is the one I called. I was told to order on line and then call the store. I did what I was told. I then called the store I ordered from and spoke to the person on duty i told him what I did, he said he was just pulling them off the shelf. I asked him to open the box and make sure they weren't damaged in anyway. He said everything was fine. He then told me that it would be held back for 2 weeks, after that, they would call me to find out if I still wanted them. I told him I just had complete Double hip surgery and would be there in 3 weeks. He said that's fine, I would get a phone call in 2 weeks. When I drove to the store to pick my trees up They couldn't find them. They looked everywhere, next thing they did was go on the floor and there was one left. They told me that since I didn't pick it up in the two weeks they put it back on the shelf. I asked them why would they do that being I had already paid for them and had already told them it would be three weeks before I would pick it up. They couldn't give me a good answer. I spoke to the manager of the store and he told me the policy of two weeks, and told me I hadn't picked them up so they were going to be restocked., But before they would be restock , I should've gotten a phone call. I told him I never received a phone call or message. I am home through the day and I have an answering machine I even included my cell phone. I never got a phone call or message and I never got my 2nd. Tree! I tried calling their corporate office to complain But there is no human to talk to. Never order online, it's a total mess. We ordered online (ship to store) but then cancelled the order. They told us that we have to wait until the order reaches the store and then process a return. As a customer, why should I have to be involved in a return that is between the store and the factory. Also, the customer service is terrible. There is no way to talk to anyone. There is no phone number. Your only option is email. I asked that they call me and the emailed me back saying they only use email. Stay away from Menards. While shopping with my aunt and cousin I was wearing my mask, I pulled it down to change out as it was getting sweaty. I was confronted by an employee who said I had to pull it up, I advised him it was on, it was sweaty and I was spinning it around, he told me I wasn't allowed to do so, even tho there was nobody near me. He kept on like he was trying to start an argument I told him he needed to shut his mouth and back off as I was complying, he then ran off and got three more employees I heard another's radio and he said there was a violent customer in the cordless power tool isle. They came back looked at me and kept walking. I will never shop there again, I will not be talked to that way when I was complying. I have shopped at menards for 10 plus years; worked at one of their stores for 4 months, had a son who worked in HR in their Aurora store for 2 years and always revered people to menards over Home Depot or Lowe's all this time.... Never again will I shop or order from them nor refer anyone to them.... the worst customer service online and at their corporate staff level I have ever experienced in my life! I purchased $2100.00 worth of outdoor furniture in March which shipped from several stores. I ordered 6 outdoor rugs (total of $150 as part of the order) which they apparently delivered on a weekend and left at the street end of my driveway (according to a neighbor who saw a box there) which was stolen over the weekend while I was out of town. I reordered the rugs (paid again for them) and I contacted Menards via their email customer service, went back and forth with their customer service representative "Natalie", followed all her directions for the last 2 months including sending the completed police report from the Lake County Sheriffs department and then was told that I need to contact my Credit Card Company to put in a despite to get a refund as they show FedEx Delivered the rugs to my driveway! I called Menards Corpoate and spoke with "Max" a supervisor in the online Customer Service Department who reviewed all the Email correspondence and after putting me on hold so he could go talk with Natalie, he told me I had to call my CC company also as they would need a"completed police report with the resolved results of the sheriffs departments investigation" to give a refund! Really! I did everything they asked for 2 months, 10 emails, with the expectation of a refund and when I asked in the last 2 emails for Natalie's supervisors contact info, never would give it, forcing me to call corporate, to get told that it was now my Credit Card company's responsibility to follow up on getting some resolution... Menards shipped the rug via Federal Express/they left the delivery at the street (40 ft driveway) for someone to take vs putting it on my front porch like every other delivery I have gotten in the last 5 years from FedEx/UPS/USPS and when I told Max it's thier figgt with FedEx as the shipper to a customer who had the merchandise stolen and had to reorder it....again, "No, you need to follow up with your CC company" Lost me as a customer for $150 (which I had to pay again to get the second order of rugs) and everyone I. My family and extended family as well as every person I can talk to about thier "customer service" and lack of it. I truly have never heard such ridiculousness on this whole 2 months of emails and company policy. I'm have also sent copies of all the emails, notes from my conversation with "Max" as well as the police report to menards HQ (not to thier Customer Service" department) to see if they even care about thier customers and if they will even respond... wanna bet they don't. I own a small landscaping business. I bought a laser transit level 480$ on June 17.2021. I went to a menards near my house instead of the menards 25 minutes away To return it.I lost the receipt. I paid cash for the item. The box was opened and the transit level was dirty I didn't bother to clean it off. I was just hoping to get a gift card that would've been fine ..it would've been fine if they even told me they couldn't return the item. I provided them with my drivers license which was valid they asked me where I purchased it I told them. The manager proceeded to type on her computer for about five minutes. She then handed me a receipt that had a email address on it that I had to contact Menards. I told her I don't even wanna go through all that I just want to keep my item because I was already thinking about keeping it anyways..I just would not use it a lot in my line of business. she then told me I could not have the item back I coulent believe what I was hearing..Menards and Sherry the manager at least that's what she calls her self proceeded to keep my $500 item that I paid for. And she told me I had to prove that I purchased the item. I will never shop at Menards again I was walked out today because I am not able to wear a mask I advised him this is not a law you are to wear a mask if you are unable to maintain a 6 foot distance or if you have a medical condition you cannot force someone to wear a mask. Low and behold as I'm leaving the cashier doesn't even have her mask on, so it's OK for your employees not to be compliant but you're going to walk someone out who can't wear a mask and is following the 6 foot guidelines, your employees are more likely to spread the virus as they do not change their gloves in between customers so they have touched 50 to 100 items from other people and have now spread thvirus To you it's called cross contamination I can't wait for the day that common sense comes back read more

I ordered a lawn roller on April 22nd . When it was placed it said I would get it about the 5th of May.  Not a big deal because I would have had to order it any place I went. On the 5th I checked and it not said it would be the 10th. I started getting frustrated because I really needed it when I ordered it but it was only 5 more days so why complain.  On the 10th my status said "ordered placed" and it won't be available till may 30th.  Now I am upset. Why did it take 18 days to place the order? I sent a e-mail and asked that question and all I got back was the date it was going to be delivered and no answers to my questions.  If I would have known I was going to wait 1 1/2 months for it I would have went elsewhere.  At this point I don't want to cancel it and reorder it someplace else.  Then to add insult to injury I get an e-mail saying my Menards card now had a statement and payment it due on June 2. 3 days after I get it. I shouldn't have to pay for it till I get it. Lowes and home depot doesn't charge me till I pick my order up. What if something is wrong with it like it doesn't work or ir its the wrong part? I will not wait for another one. It's just a way to charg me interest a month early. I bought a hot water tank from them about a year ago and it broke down twice already. It has a warranty but we are a family of 5 and can't go without hot water for a week or 2. I am done with this store. read more

we ordered 1 window when first ordered it was going to be like 2 weeks, fine not a big deal. Then a few days later it changed to 7 weeks, I tried 2 times to contact the vendor and got no response so we left it go and waited about 2 weeks before that date came up they changed it again so at this point it is taking about 3 months for 1 window. I am hoping Menards will respond as 2 weeks later I am still waiting for a response to my customer service email and there is no phone number to speak with a representative. This is really frustrating as I would like to purchase items I need for household repairs that only Menards carries in the store. I cannot order the items for store pickup (unavailable) and shipping charges would have been $81.00. Menards will not allow me into the store with my infant (even if she has a mask). Do not order anything from this company! I ordered a standard, double wide garage door from the Menards website on may 8th. When we realized it wouldn't ship until June 1st, decided to cancel the order on May 13th. The online tracker still listed the order as being processed. Menards refuses to cancel the order. Instead, they're going to ship it across the country, and "let" me return the door and pay a 25% restocking fee. According to the tracker, the door hasn't even arrived at the Wisconsin store it's supposed to ship from. So I order a door, it's still being processed, isn't even ready to ship, yet they can't cancel the order. Absolutely, effing, ridiculous. read more

Menards may be the Walmart of the hardware world, but their customer service is horrible. We ordered the last piece of carpet for our house, after carpeting the whole house, my wife goofed on the order and it was routed to the wrong Menards. We immediately called - and they changed to the correct store...or so we thought... Installer goes to pick it up - not there. It's at the original store. A dozen phone calls later, from the local store, to our store, to the Menards HQ in Wisconsin (the well hidden number to HQ is (715) 876-2515) - nothing but unfriendly and unhelpful people. At the store level - they were quite rude. At the corp level, they were quite snooty. Shopping Menard's during our renovation may have saved a few bucks - all lost due to this final piece. Got burnt by this store and their shotty "major appliance" return policy they don't tell you about .......They were close to my house so I got a washer and dryer from them (btw it was a Whirlpool Cabrio and they are junk) well within two weeks the washer was leaking gearbox oil......got ahold of Menards that is when the 7-day return policy emerged like someone just plugged up a toilet .......They then help take the fight to Whirlpool but still came up short leaving me with 2 huge steaming piles of Whirlpool as I am not putting faith in the dryer either ......So after they bowed down and fell over like a tipsy drunkard they left me to deal with Whirlpool .....with their powers combined they got to make up the most useless , ignorant customer super power ever...... read more

i order a door and a small sliding glass window. I had an Amish put it in for me and was w/him the whole time. everything was great until two day later when WI weather went from warm to cold.. when i went down to put some blind up i notice a crack coming down from the top of the window. this appear to be a manufacture defect since you could see where the put some sort of poxy glue in during install.. this seem to have let moisture in at the end points to allow a progressive crack. like it happens when you get a star burst on your car window and it exsplodes across the windshield do to moisture if you don't fill it in right away.. I can't totaly blame Menards, i have to blame myself since about 10 yr ago i bought a leaf blower/mulch-er. three days later it snow and didn't get to use it other than a short two min. trial. the next spring my son wanted to try it so i said sure so now its out warnty. the rope to pull start would not recoil and stuff broke in side. Menards policy was.. out warranty.. i bought a muscle rack from menards by sandusky lee.i really like the rack had good suppports. problem was they only sent half of the screws needed to put it together. i told them i needed twenty five nuts with twenty four more screws the person i talk to acted like they weren't listening.when the screws were sent they only sent sixteen of each i decided to buy the rest. i want to order another rack just like this but, i hate having to pay more for what i already paid for.this rack takes fourty eight screws and nuts why is that so hard to see? read more

Just got kicked out of Menards on brookpark rd in Cleveland Ohio for not wearing a mask. Told the so called manager I have a medical condition and that I cannot wear a mask. He told me get out of the store or I will call the police even made me put down what I came to purchase claiming that if I don't wear a mask I cannot purchase anything from the store. Truly believe this was more racial than anything else. I told him several times that I cannot wear a mask and if anything happened to me as a result of the mask he and the store would be liable and I would sue the store which is when he told me get the hell out the store or I will call the police. I put down what I came to purchase walked out the store very angry, with the manager walking behind me as if I was shoplifting making sure I got out of the store. Already placed a phone call into my attorney on regards to this matter. People like this should not be employed by Menards or any other store for that matter. Don't mean to play the race card here but when you tell someone you can't do something because of an existing condition and they still insist you do it because they said so then it makes it a personal issue which is why I believe it was racially driven. read more

i placed an order via menards website, unfortunately UPS misplaced the package during delivery and i had to file a claim which UPS immediately approved and informed me that they sent the approved claim to menards so i should be able to get the package resent from Menards. So far so good but now trying to contact Menards and trying to reach some one who handles online sales is like looking for gold underneath the rainbow. You cant reach any of their customer service via phone, only way is either written mail or fax. The store that sent out my package , i called them but they dont handle online sales and have no idea how to proceed and gave me guest services number, which again can only be reached via written correspondence and fax. its hard to get hold of anyone who can provide a simple solution and its been a month and a half, Only reason i tried to shop with Menards is i used to live in WI, so i was trying to support it during the Pandemic and i live in NYC, They have made it so difficult to get hold of anyone who can rectify things and provide solutions. My order costed less than $100.00 so it is not huge loss but if i had made purchases that costed a lot of money then it would be sheer stress trying to reach someone and getting it sorted out. i think they are not ready for ecommerce and should stop with their online sales or get someone on board who knows how to run ecommerce along with sales and after service. read more

I have had a HORRIBLE experience with Menards. I purchased and returned 3 faulty yard blowers - faulty right out of the box. I gave Menards a good faith try by purchasing and trying 3 different blowers, but after finding the 3rd one was faulty as well, I now wanted my money back. Turns out all of my trips to and from Menards were 2 weeks beyond their 90 day return policy (because who uses a blower in January - March in Wisconsin??) and will only receive an in store credit of 150.00$. I followed all of their protocols and received the same answer from their corporate office. What am I going to do with a an in store credit when I will no longer do any further business with a company that apparently often sells faulty products - 3 times. The long time regular employees are great, but the chance of being able to find help when you need is pretty slim. It does have a convenient location, but the selection is poor (lots of cheap stuff from China mixed in with many things made by John Menard's other companies...a a few things I need). I've been planning my kitchen remodel and trying to shop locally, but it's all very builder grade there. My biggest irritation was when I went to buy a table saw nobody would help. There was no one at that desk and no one in the department...the adjacent seasonal department couldn't help and called for someone who walked past me. Bought a Chain saw from Menards in Lancaster, Ohio and after using it twice it would run after you let it warm up for about 10 minutes but then when I started cutting wood with it would throw the chain off. What good is a chain saw if the chain don't stay on. When I bought this I even bought there service agreement but when I tried to return the chain saw they then told me that because I but gas and oil in it and had used it I had to take it to a service center and pay $45.00 for them to look at it and if the service center told them the problem with the chain saw was not my fault they would replace the chain saw with another one but Would NOT refund me the cash I had paid for it. So Menards service agreement are a joke and so are their products and the store employees and management are not helpful at all and RUDE. they do not tell you about this return policy before you buy the product it is on the recite in fine print for you to read after you buy the product. Hi. I am hoping someone can help me as I have been going back and forth with Menards support on this for several weeks and still no resolution. I live in California and want to order 6 interior doors for my house. The shipping costs keep changing and its quite frustrating. several weeks ago the shipping costs were $575. The next morning they were $2050. I contacted support to find out what was going on and after a few exchanges, the price changed to $597 so when I got home from work, i went to place the order and the cost went to $2050. I contacted support again and they were looking into it. I tried again Thursday and the cost went to $1150. I reached out again to support and they said, 'we don't dictate the shipping costs, the shipping company does'. Then they responded back that the order system was having problems and it would be corrected shortly. Monday they said it was corrected and the price they saw was $1150. yesterday I checked and the cost went back to $2050. This is so frustrating as I can't place the order when I am completely lost on what my final costs will be. I hope that a reputable establishment like Menards would honor the original shipping costs so i can order these doors and get them installed. I do not write reviews so this one is a MUST READ B4 you shop at this store!!! This was some of the most horrible customer service I have EVER SEEN. There are a FEW customer oriented employees throughout the whole store! I had the manager of a lawn and garden dept. by the name of Aaron try to charge me full price for 1/2 blocks "because they were supposed to be part of the display for next year and someone put them out on the floor for sale. when I would not go for that and asked for the STORE manager, they routed me to an ASSISTANT manager that tried to pass herself off as the person I asked for. She proceeded to only try and give me $1.00 of each one ( that again was only HALF the size of the original blocks. When I insisted they should be closer to 1/2 off she said she "would help ME out this ONE time but that they weren't supposed to do this" and gave it to me for just over 1/2 price. It gets better as I am going in the other doors to go out to the lumber yard where my husband was picking up the lumber we purchased ( with no help at ALL from ANY employee mind you) I see this woman with a small child go into the store ahead of me with a small child in one of their "car buggy's" and the gate was not open, she tried to fit it through the like people counter bars that you would see at the theme parks but it wont go.( The girl at the customer service desk sees this happening) This woman looks over at her and asks for help, the girl tells her " Oh no, it will go through there just try again" ( meanwhile there is a latch gate right next to it that the employee could have opened to let her through with her small child... but did not lift a finger to help her. I turned around went to the other side of the gate and hit the latch to let her through the entrance!. The employee at the desk still stood there watching and did NOTHING. Then I finally make it back to the lumbar area where my husband is to find out the "decking" he just purchased looks like nothing more than rough-cut slab wood or scrap lumbar!. When I go BACK in to the order station in the lumbar department, there is another customer that is standing there obviously not happy and the customer says to me out of the blue, "I will never come back here again, I'll stick with Lowes and Home Depot, this is ridiculous", The poor girl at the desk doesn't really know a thing about lumbar at all ( she was filling for someone's break), but that I do need to go ALL THE WAY BACK UP FRONT AGAIN ( this will be the THIRD time now) to get this handled. So, I ask her where I go to lodge a formal complaint about the store above the manager Sarah I had already spoken to, then she proceeds to tell me that Sarah is an assistant, not the manager, but that the actual store manager is standing at the desk in the next department over. I go find him, explain all these things that have happened within the last 45 minutes of being in his store and he simply looks at me and says" well I am sorry you feel this way mam" there was a long pause ( me waiting to hear what else he was going to say... but yea that was IT. So I said, That doesn't help me at all in regards to the debacle of customer service no- no's. He (I think his name was Bill, but am not 100% SURE). Anyway he then says " well maybe we need to look into some more training ( again I wait... but that was ALL he had to say). I honestly cannot believe a store could get away with treating the very people that contribute to their paychecks and the very reason they even HAVE A JOB!!!!!!!! Trust me the few cents or even a dollar off what you would pay at the higher end chains ( I cannot even believe I am referring to Lowes and Home Depot as " higher end" right now...anyway, the little extra is WELL WORTH it even for their standard to customer service ALONE.
