Fun way to spend a weekend night. Cold beer and cheap entertainment.

Second Yelp night out! Thanks so much for the tickets! I…read morelearned alot about whiskey that night but...I forgot it all...darn that whiskey!!! I tasted the Piehole first and I know I said the Larceny 92 proof would be my last. Then I saw the second table of whiskey and gave in to the strawberry one since my soul was on fire from the Larceny still. What two whiskeys I had inbetween I can't remember. That Piehole was to die for though! Pecan Pie Whiskey?!?! I usually gag at the thought flavored whiskey but man that stuff was good. If you want to get a party started the quickest way would be the Larceny though haha. DONUTS. I came in knowing my favorite: Howard's all the way!!! But I found a new favorite: Jody's Donuts. The ladies from Jody's were so awesome (the only people I saw from the respective donut places) and I knew immediately that I had to ask about the one with bananas on it. They sold me on it and just when I regretted taking it, I took a bite and went into Elvis/doughnut/childhood memory nirvana. Gotta go by their shop now! Gibson's were actually on point that night even though I am usually the hated one in Gibson's debates.

I was here, and I wasn't really here... So much donuts and whiskey…read more.. Okay, settling down. I had to shoot some hoops to see if I was able to drive home. And since I missed majority of those shots, I suppose I am! Did you guys noticed that the Yelp panties are perfect for spider man cosplay? Who's going to be my Peter while I be your Mary Jane? Did Deanna just pack a whole box of donuts home? Above statements were part of the saved draft... So, I guess I had fun last night! Those pecan pie tasting whiskeys are killer. I'm also very happy that I tried donuts from 3 different vendors and donut holes from 2. Unfortunately, Gibson's took the crown and run away with it. Gibson's donuts are the best. Rec Room is awesome. I can't think of a better location for an event like this. Whiskey, donuts, and video games! Generation Y, represent!

The Be end and Street of Blues Dreams!…read more Welcome to Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee. Let the memories of the past be here in the present. The ghosts of the past are here are you ready to discover and see them. When in Memphis, this is a must! Well I don't drink! That's all right! They have mocktails if you need them. Or a mixed cocktail. Whatever wets your whistle. Hair of some sort of a dog. Now Beale Street is not Las Vegas, maybe during its hey days. Let's go back to circa 1920-1940s this was a black owned atmosphere that boomed. It shook all night with nightclubs, restaurants, theaters and of course the music. W.C. Handy and wrote" Mr Crump," being the Father of the Blues! He made the blues a word of mouth bit. Muddy Waters and Bb King among others performed in these juke joints. The blues thrived and made the area strong. At the beginning of the 1960s Beale Street fell into decay. Elvis was a regular visitor here moving to Memphis when he was only 13. He was signed to Sun Records in November of 1955. The likes of Beale Street were more the local screaming joy rather than a tourist attraction. In 1966, it was added to the national historic register to preserve the cultural significance and iconic heritage. In the 80s to the present day it's a great place to see. Be prepared to bring your actual identification card from your local place of residence or you will not be able to get through security. Vegas could learn from the heighten security measures here. Everyone shows id or you don't get in. They take security precautions and very strict measures here. It makes an individual feel safe. Wander and feel the effects of the blues viruses taking ahold of your soul.

However, there is some interesting and eye-catching street art to be admired. If you've never been to Memphis, check it out. Really no need to see it more than once.

Beale Street - The motorcycle crowd was obnoxious and put a bad vibe on such a historic and electric place for music.

The place where the blues truly belongs and came to fruition! Elvis gave that spark to the blues. That ability to sell it and make the flame glow even more.... Aretha Franklins home town! The queen of soul! Yes, some respect! The first women of all sorts. How about Bb King and so many others way before Elvis came and made this happen. Now there is tragedy here too! So many battles fought here. Blood stains this city. The many race riots of 1866. Then when Martin Luther King was killed here. What? The historical context in thin city is unclear for many. But still Memphis rises in all this chaos. In the past darkness exists, but that can fade and the world will reset and change again happens. We remember the past. The vision of Sun records and memories of Stax Records still here. The future is alive and bright because we keep it fresh. Connect with living history and whispers of the past. It can be very careful in downtown Memphis. I highly recommend that tourists get good instructions from your hotel concierge about what places and areas you should and should not experience downtown. From BB King's Blues Club & Restaurant to Beale Street itself, all things are phenomenal. The Historic Lorraine Motel is also a few minutes away. It was such a positive cultural experience here in Memphis.
