Very entertaining! For $25 I sat near the field and watched AAA ball. Some of these guys will be on the St Louis Cardinal's roster by the end of the season. Great atmosphere in a 25 year old brick ball park. The apartment to right field almost give a Camden Yards vibe. Food was a little expensive but not too over the top. Grass hills in left and right field give kids a place to burn energy as they wait for an outfielder to toss them a ball at the end of innings. We received free tickets to a game. There is a clear bag policy, so be mindful with personal belongings. The stadium is clean and well lit, with several areas for refreshments and a grassy play area for the kids. There's also an area where you can refill water bottles. The good thing about being in Downtown Memphis is that there are restaurants to visit either before or after the game. Autozone Park has different discounts and events during the week like ice cream days, beer specials, and activities for kids. We enjoyed every minute of our first Redbirds game! Memphis' Triple A team were a joy to watch in their game against the Bats. Lots of action! Dustin provided between-inning Game Night entertainment which was so fun and he even included someone from our party in the games! The stadium is lovely and our tickets were only $20 a piece, to sit in the first rows behind the Redbirds dugout! Great seats. We picked up a few souvenirs and some free nachos, as it was Free Nacho Tuesday. Lots of fun! Great value, too. read more

We regularly go to see the Redbirds and normally have a good time. Clean, safe, and friendly employees. We went a couple weeks ago though and the food was trash. My 4th grade daughter attended a field trip to the Redbirds game on Thursday, May 4. She stated it was the worst field trip ever. They arrived at 10:30 and all they witness was them smoothing the dirt out. Three hours of sitting in the hot sun never seeing a game. I had the opportunity to attend a weeknight game and a "behind the dugout" tour of the stadium this week. I learned a lot more about this great home town team. The facility we have in our city is amazing. It is state of the art and run by some really great folks. The music they play during the game is courtesy of a live organist, I also thought it was taped. They really take care of visiting teams too. They have great clubhouse facilities and their press get their own radio booth and box. The Redbird players have their own clubhouse, family room, indoor play area and batting cages. Oh Rockie has his own dressing room too :) The suites are amazing. If you do not have access to a corporate suite you can still rent one out for special events. When we were there it was set up for a rehearsal dinner, what a great venue for such an event. The AV equipment is top notch, Auto Zone park features the largest video score board in minor league baseball. There are a lot of opportunities to host events here of all sizes and it's the perfect downtown Memphis location. We saw a Thursday night game and the weather was amazing. It's the perfect place to spend a fall night in downtown Memphis. Week night games are not as crowded and the kids had the play area almost to themselves. They also had the chance to get Rocky the Redbird and some players to sign their balls. So much fun! We are lucky to have this great facility and team in our city. read more

It's baseball season and the weather is beautiful, so over the weekend the bf and I enjoyed a game at Autozone Park. To make this date affordable we purchased tickets on the bluff, aka a grassy hill beyond 3rd base. You're allowed to bring blankets and cushions but not folding chairs. I should mention that the bluff isn't really a "romantic" place to sit as there are tons of kids running around. But the parents are good about watching their kids and everyone gets along well. If its not your thing the cheapest seats are $11 pre sale and $13 at the door. After a few innings we decided to get some food. It's definitely a Memphis thing but I just feel a kind of obligation to get BBQ nachos at a sporting event, so that's what we got. However there's plenty of food options - burgers, hotdogs, pizza, deli sandwiches, catfish, and all the typical snack foods. We also split a soda, which unlike the forum is not refillable : (. Here's a little tip for you - ask for no ice; soda comes out of the tap cool and you will get twice as much without the pesky ice taking up the room. Non refillable beverage aside, the concession prices aren't terrible. We decided to eat at the picnic tables since BBQ nachos can be a little messy. Picnic tables are near the kiddie area next to the bluff or in the outfield seating way beyond first base. Tummys satisfied we headed back to our blanket spot to watch the game some more. Personally, I do find baseball a little boring, I cannot sit through 9 innings without a few breaks. But it seems to be a sport where crowd chatting is a-ok. And Autozone park in a nice facility so it's cool to just walk around when you need a little break. Sadly the redbirds lost the game. Oh well! We still had fun. As soon as the game ended the field was set up for the aftergame fireworks. While the field was set up there was a drum line to entertain the crowd, they were great and I appreciate the distraction. Then it was time for the finale. The fireworks were great! In honor of the 15th anniversary there will be fireworks at every Saturday home game. After fireworks there was a band playing in the main area by the entrance. If you really want to save money, on Tuesdays, popcorn, sodas and hot dogs are $2 read more

Full disclosure: I'm a Boston Red Sox fan. I was born there, I cannot control fate and destiny. Plus, I love them, no matter what. (It's been tough this season...) Anyhow, I really love the Memphis Redbirds. Before I moved here, I thought my days of watching baseball in person were over. Admittedly, I had no clue there was a minor league team here. Thank the LORD there is one. AutoZone Park is phenomenal. For a minor league stadium, it is gorgeous. I love that you can walk around and stretch your legs when you need to. The bluff is cool: cheap seats where you can let your kiddos run around. Food is awesome and relatively inexpensive. BBQ NACHOS. DO IT. You won't be sorry. Beer is beer, but they have Ghost River, so that's pretty awesome in my book. Seriously, I can't figure out why the games don't have more people attending. Love minor league ball. Fun, cheap entertainment and in a great park like this one, time flies. However. One major, major flaw docked this operation two stars in my book. The club level seats have access to a nice air conditioned concourse with stepped-up hotdogs etc. and basically semi-private bathrooms. Really top notch -- except for the the beer. Inexplicably the lone craft beer station is down on the ground level. The nice club level concourse was all mass produced swill. This meant a hike down/up two flights of stairs, with your ticket, through two sets of doors, past about four swill stations, to get to the good stuff. At one point I thought about asking a manager type on the concourse level about this situation, but then I remembered past experiences and worried that he would point me to the Blue Moon and then I would have to slap him and that would end my night of baseball. If you are a crafty guy or gal with better self-control, maybe you can venture to ask someone at AutoZone Park about this bizarre set up. I'd love to hear the rationale. From a distance. read more

I finally got to visit this stadium this summer. What a fun time! What took me so long to visit!?! We paid for the cheap seats (outfield grass area) and had so much fun standing and watching the game while the boys played with other children around them. The park was clean and well kept from what I was able to walk around in. Plus, the bathrooms were clean and well stocked even towards the end of the game. Redbirds games are always a fun and reasonably priced family outing. Auto Zone Park is quite impressive for a AAA stadium. In addition to their huge screen, they have several games and activities to keep the kids busy if they get antsy. The food and beer are a little pricey, and the food is just mediocre. I would suggest eating before the game. Redbird's games are a great way to see players that are recovering or likely to move up to major league, as the Redbirds are a triple A affiliate of the St Louis Cardinals. I've lived in Memphis for nearly a year now, and have wanted to check out a Memphis Redbirds game. Last week, we finally blocked out some time to make this happen. We arrived to AutoZone Park and were able to purchase tickets for the bluffs in relatively fast fashion. We get to the front gate and have our bags checked; the girlfriend is forced to throw away two unopened bottles of water, but we figure "hey, I guess it's the policy" so we move on. We enter the facility and are pleased with how clean of a venue it is, and there truly was no bad seat in the house. There were also PLENTY of activities for kids to do, so if you have children, this is a fabulous outing. We find a place on the bluffs and lay out our blanket to enjoy the game. During the game, they'll have a lot of family-friendly activities going on. I like the fact that they invest so much time and effort into making this a family event; it is good for the city of Memphis. We then go to get our concessions. We grab a soda in souvenir cup which was $5.50 and not refillable; I know that stadium prices are typically high, but that doesn't make it any easier to swallow. We also got BBQ nacho's for $9.75. This was not as terrible of a deal, but I think for the price, you should get more nachos. Funnel cake was $5, and that seemed reasonable. We continued to watch the game and were crowded by a TON of people. That is one warning I'll issue about the bluffs; a kid will run into you while you're seated. Speaking of kids and the "policy" spoken of earlier, a family sitting right next to us busted out a ton of snacks and drinks brought from outside the stadium for their kids. I find it hard to imagine that all of this food was hidden from security sight. Long story short, either allow food and drink or don't. The end of the game had a fireworks show; this will be occurring every Saturday to celebrate the 15th anniversary. This was one of the best fireworks show I've ever seen. I'd probably come back several times just for the fireworks show. Now for one significant gripe. We left the stadium out of a side gate and noticed as we were walking by that they had a pretty awesome band playing on the inside, so we wanted to come back inside and enjoy the band. Not only did security not let us back in despite us buying tickets citing "policy of ownership", but was EXCEPTIONALLY rude during the process. If management really wants people to leave, why have a band after the game? And even if that is the policy, security does not need to be rude about it. But I digress. Issues with really shoddy security aside, this was a good experience and look forward to going back to another game in the future. read more

What a fantastic ballpark! Great location, inexpensive priced tickets and fabulous food for a stadium. Largest big screen in minor league baseball officially installed this year. Plus- you can walk around the entire stadium around the outfield- not every ballpark allows spectators this luxury. Friday nights they have bands and if you go early you can catch happy hour prices. My only disappointment is that there is no place for tailgating. Be prepared to pay around $5 for parking in the parking garage and $7 and up for tickets. The lawn area is a nice option if you want to head out for a cheap game with a family picnic experience. Be sure to order the local beer (Ghostriver) and the local BBQ (Rendezvous nachos). They have a playground, bouncy house, blowup slide, carnival type rides and games, and of course tons of junk food! Just make sure to bring cash for the rides because they can not accept credit card. The Redbirds games are sure fun. A friend and I went to the game the other night. A friend of ours gave us his tickets and we were able to sit in his company's box. The night was so pleasant we stayed out on the patio for most of the game. Out in the lobby we grabbed a couple of dogs from the hot dog vendor and a beer from the bar. Dogs and beers were pretty expensive and I'd hesitate to bring a group with me. But we had free tickets so it sort of balanced out. The game went into extra innings and was a fun game to watch.
