My family and I had a great time at the last 2024 home game of the Memphis Redbirds. The 'Birds won 8 to 6 against the Durham Bulls (Sunday, September 22nd).

We enjoyed every minute of our first Redbirds game! Memphis' Triple A team were a joy to watch in their game against the Bats. Lots of action! Dustin provided between-inning Game Night entertainment which was so fun and he even included someone from our party in the games! The stadium is lovely and our tickets were only $20 a piece, to sit in the first rows behind the Redbirds dugout! Great seats. We picked up a few souvenirs and some free nachos, as it was Free Nacho Tuesday. Lots of fun! Great value, too.

Great times during The Easter holiday! So many baseball players out and playing around with the kids! My son had a blast and didn't want to leave! The atmosphere was nice and family friendly!

I had the opportunity to attend a weeknight game and a "behind the dugout" tour of the stadium this week. I learned a lot more about this great home town team. The facility we have in our city is amazing. It is state of the art and run by some really great folks. The music they play during the game is courtesy of a live organist, I also thought it was taped. They really take care of visiting teams too. They have great clubhouse facilities and their press get their own radio booth and box. The Redbird players have their own clubhouse, family room, indoor play area and batting cages. Oh Rockie has his own dressing room too :) The suites are amazing. If you do not have access to a corporate suite you can still rent one out for special events. When we were there it was set up for a rehearsal dinner, what a great venue for such an event. The AV equipment is top notch, Auto Zone park features the largest video score board in minor league baseball. There are a lot of opportunities to host events here of all sizes and it's the perfect downtown Memphis location. We saw a Thursday night game and the weather was amazing. It's the perfect place to spend a fall night in downtown Memphis. Week night games are not as crowded and the kids had the play area almost to themselves. They also had the chance to get Rocky the Redbird and some players to sign their balls. So much fun! We are lucky to have this great facility and team in our city.

The good thing about being in Downtown Memphis is that there are restaurants to visit either before or after the game.

I've never been a fan of the Grizzlies ... not when they were in Vancouver or when they relocated…read moreto Memphis. Really, historically their one superstar, Pau Gasoline was traded to the Lakers where he was able to get a championship. Several years of sub par play and they are starting to come out on the other side. A few good draft classes highlighted by getting Ja Morant with the second pick in 2019 and the Grizzlies now gave something to cheer about. Hugh level playmaker that makes a difference. The Grizzlies are always coached well, now they have the starting of a core that can make a playoff run. Certainly a team on the rise!!!

Do you root for the underdog? The Grizzlies are the team for you. They have no superstars. They…read morehave no pretty boys in car/shoe/deodorant commercials. The Grizz focus on playing basketball, and they do a damn fine job of it. The players and staff are down to earth, nice people, who just happen to shut down the Lakers and Heat while they're at it. Going to a Grizzlies game is like inadvertently walking behind a jet plane about to take off. Everything is subdued and normal, and then OH MY GOD WHAT'S HAPPENING THIS IS AWESOME. The Grizzlies are kind of like magicians. The way they play looks like just a solid, team effort, but somehow, it gets the job done every time. Also, like magicians, they struggle for awhile (usually 3rd-4th quarter) then usually come to their senses and get the W. Voila! Have you ever eaten crappy food at a sporting event? You lucky sucker, you're in for a treat. Memphis venues serve pork barbecue nachos and big-ass beers. Your taste buds should be exploding right now at the thought of that. The announcer, Rick Trotter,is incredible. He will make your biceps bulge, your beard grow out, and your testosterone count skyrocket. He makes the Old Spice guy look like Urkel. When he gets on the mic, your heart beats faster and your colon clenches. Like some neighborhoods in Memphis, they're really good at stealing. The Grizzlies defense is amazing. If you don't pay attention, Tony Allen will steal your girlfriend while you're sitting next to her. He's THAT good. Plus, look at Z-Bo. If you don't just want to pinch his cheeks when he smiles, there's something wrong with you. As if all that wasn't enough, the Grizzlies have the best monikers/slogan/Twitter accounts ever. Grit. Grind. Grizzness Time. Oh My Grizzness. Believe Memphis. Make your own luck. Once you go to a game, you'll understand the lingo. It's like learning a new secret language. And that language is awesome.
