Yes my Family got screened and I really appreciate that they did. I am a pretty blunt person so I…read morewasn't caught off guard. They just wanted to make sure my Baby went to the best home. They have checked in on him. Have given me great tips. I didn't get a puppy I got a couch seal. I could tell by How my Dog left them that their mission was never about people. It's about the Animals. I was approved within 2 weeks. We did have a family vet though and I think they just wanted to ensure their animals go to homes that advocate vet care. They don't want their animals neglected. We went for a totally different breed. I couldn't have transitioned my Baby without them. We walked through the floor being lava, and Now we are walking through his Momma being a Resource. What can I say It was Love at First Site for me for this dog. For Pennie's I walked out with a Leash, a blanket, toys and a bed. I also walked out with my best friend. Thank You CAS. You're a Gem and I will support yall till my last breath. Neptune found his place and he is a Happy Loved Dog!

So in February of 2025 nothing has changed apparently. The lady who reviews the apps thinks she's…read moreGod apparently. Had to put my little girl of 11 years asleep last month because of arterial thrombosis and was ready to love again so I put in an application(how times have changed! Applying to adopt a cat?). She calls and says reviewing your app and I see you didn't put down a vet. I said because she's never been to one other than the day she was put down. I got her from humane society in Tucson spayed and with shots($25 no application fyi). She says you must get your cats vaccinated once a year it's the law. I said ok well if that's what it takes to adopt. She then says and I quote " it's not just about getting the shots it's about believing in vaccines". Blown away! Application denied. It's not the animals in the shelters fault but save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere. Horrible lady pushing politics on someone just trying to adopt a companion.

Donna with RAOT is an extremely dedicated trainer who has the best prices in town. For a 6 week…read moreclass, it's $80. And she gives all kinds of discounts, say if your dog is a rescue, or you're fostering it, or you've put another one of your dogs through her class. Her classes are held at Hollywood Feed on Broad at 10:00am and 11:30am. You do have to pregister though. She takes PayPal, which I love! You ever have one of those math teachers who is so good at math they can't possibly explain it to you because they don't understand why you don't understand? That is the only thing to be aware of with Donna. Her understanding of dogs is so deeply ingrained in her, it seems like sometimes she doesn't understand when we human students don't get it right off, so it's possible you may feel chastised from time to time. Don't take it personally. The important thing is that your dog will NOT feel chastised. All of Donna's training methods are positive, and the dogs in class usually really enjoy themselves. She gives reading for you to do at home, and checks that you do it, and she has a "no excuses" attitude, which I like. She emphasizes that most behavior problems dogs have are most likely because of the owner, not because the dog is stupid or stubborn. I think her approach to training is perfect because you can't just take your dog to six classes and it will be trained. You have to work with him or her continuously. Donna helps people arrive at that realistic realization, and I think that is a huge step toward preventing owners from surrendering their dogs.
