Called terry clays office and all they would say is bring her in. We explained the situation and their answer was still the same callous answer bring her in. So I called some friends to help load her the back of my truck, drove from henning to Covington to terry clays office and the hateful people their said we will not come out to the vehicle you have to bring her inside. Now all I was asking for at this time was for her to be put to sleep. And the answer was the same "No you have to bring her inside". Now I'm mad because it's only me at this point,no one to help carry my 175lb dog with a broke back. they refused to help. So I called John English in Munford/Atoka and they said just get her here fast. Got there and Dr English met me at the truck and treated her and confirmed that her back was indeed broke and did the job so politely and in the most caring way a person could. I thank god for John English ands his staff. Now my first dealings with clays office was a long time ago and he and his staff was rude then. I swore I would never use him again but this was an emergency. I was turned away at the door with the same rude service. Never, ever will I use or recommend this vets office to anyone.

Staff was dismissive and denied giving us that timeframe. The manager was very rude and then removed our cat from the back and said they weren't going to move forward, without us asking for that. Overall, a frustrating and unprofessional experience--would not recommend.

It's time to update this story. It doesn't have a happy ending. Splash was avoiding putting weight…read moreon his right front leg and we thought there was an injury. He wouldn't allow them to bend his leg back for a proper X-ray, so we took him home and hoped for the best. The pain meds made a huge difference-at first. Over the next few weeks his shoulder looked more and more out of place. They had to dope him up to get an X-ray and they found it was a mass between his rib cage and shoulder, pushing the shoulder out. Options were not good. Amputation was the likely cure. So we took him home and hoped for the best. Within 2 months this thing had caused a perfectly normal dog to be crippled with a shoulder way out of place, literally tearing muscle and tendon and bone. He was still healthy but in pain. Sometimes though if he was chasing a car or the neighbor's pig, he'd forget he was hurting and he'd tear off at full speed, so it was hard to tell how much pain he was in. We finally made the choice to go through with surgery hoping it would give him some pain free years even if he did have to hop around on one front leg. He was only 9 years old. Well, surgery went fine, but he died a couple hours later. Doctor Kinney called and said they were with him trying CPR but they just couldn't bring him back. Doctor Weatherly also performed the surgery and they said this thing was gonna find a way to kill him anyway. They said it looked like cancer and that it would continue to grow and affect the organs. Prior to surgery, they really didn't know much about the mass, until they cut into it. Even if we'd amputated early, they think he'd still have lost the battle. This is just part of owning a dog. I'm outside furiously trying to dig a hole before dark to prepare the grave. Luckily I had a tiller to assist with loosening the dirt so I could shovel. I was covered head to toe with sweat in the summer sun struggling with a shovel and turned around and saw a neighbor driving a tractor over. News travels fast and it feels good to know your neighbors are there when you need them. Splash is lucky in a way. He is buried at home, where I'd prefer to be. God forbid the backlash from the county if you actually did dig a hole in the back yard for a family member, but it's legal for dogs. Why do I still give them 5 stars? I think they did their best. I think they tried. I think they loved him too. Dr. Kinney was tore up as we were about it. The surgery looks great and I think in normal conditions, he'd have healed fine. Later that same evening, Dr. Kinney met my next door neighbors at 10 o'clock for a canine emergency of their own. This one was a happy ending. They were very fair with us on our bill. They asked for less than half what we were quoted, and I paid willingly. I wish he could have died at home with family and a full belly. We deprived him of food and water for surgery. Poor dog. Splash loved swimming, running, chasing cars, and biting tires. He loved laying under cars or the porch. He never liked being locked up inside. He's an outside dog and if it's raining, he'd be out in it. He loved cats and kittens, but he really tried to kill pigs every time he saw one. I mean seriously try to kill them. He loved this baby girl. He always loved being around people. Gone but not forgotten. I think we want a German Shepard next. We will bring him/her here.
