We got together here with most of our grown kids and their families this year. There are sites ranging from basic tent sites up to spaces for very large RVs, as well as cabins that go from "4 walls" rustic to a few that are almost a hotel room with a full bathroom, shower, air conditioning, and kitchenette. There is a playground for the young kids, access to a nice field in the back, kayaking, picnic and fishing areas along the river. There's railroad tracks that run through the back of the campground and a train often goes through at night. It's close and very loud and impressive, and while it may bother some people we looked forward to it coming through. The cabins we visited were very clean and well maintained as were all the bathrooms and the showers. The little campground store seemed to have everything you are likely to forget when you leave home. The real highlight of this place is the owners, who are some of the nicest people you can come across. They are pleasant and welcoming and went to great lengths to make our visits enjoyable. If you're looking for a deep wilderness-like experience this is probably not the place for you, but it doesn't pretend to be that. It's a really nice family friendly spot to spend some time, with plenty of stuff to keep the kids entertained.

Our site had a slight downhill angle, but it was not enough to cause any trouble. All utilities were available and worked as expected. The real standout was the bathhouse and shower area--without question, the cleanest facilities we had seen in two weeks of staying at campgrounds. There is also a very nice walking path that winds down along the river, which made the stay even better. It is a peaceful place, well kept, and easy to navigate. We would definitely stay at Timberland again.

This is a slice of heaven in the Whites and wouldn't even think of staying at any other place to enjoy the glamping/camping experience.

The Errol Motel is a great cozy motel that is in really great shape and the location was critical…read morefor us last week since my truck alternator stopped working a few miles from town (in the middle of the thirteen mile woods on our way to Saddleback to go skiing for the week) and we eeked our way to Errol and found the Errol Motel when we really needed a place to stay. The owner's, Michelle and Matt, were some of the friendliest, nicest people that I have ever met. They helped us out in our hour of need in ways I can't ever describe!! They put us in touch with Norm (another great guy) who had the only garage in the area and he was able to fix our truck once he was able to get the parts a day later. They bended over backwards in amazing ways to help us and they basically saved our vacation. We didn't even miss a day of skiing!!! I will never forget them!!! It is so great to know there still are some really nice people in this world who want to help others. I highly recommend a stay at the Errol Motel if you want a great mountain experience and you want to meet some great people. Their dog, Bailey will be glad to meet you too!! Pleasant River is a nice, unassuming little motel. It is convenient to Sunday River (about a 10…read moreminute or less drive) and we stay there often during the ski season (we have season passes so don't need ski & stay packages). The place is clean. The price is great. The wifi always works great. They charge by the room and not, like most places around there, based on per person full occupancy. We almost always stay 2 nights on weeknights and the 2 of us get a room with microwave and fridge for under $60/night (that is for the both of us, not each). The McCartney's, the proprietors, are quiet, friendly and provide great service.

We brought a bachelorette party on the moose tour! Lori was a great guide and taught us a lot about…read moremoose and how/where to look for them in the wallows. She fit into the mood of our party and was super fun! We were out moosing for a long time and were out during a pretty heavy thunder storm. I have no idea how she managed to spot 5 moose and 3 deer in the pitch dark, driving in the rain, operating the spotlights, and telling us lots of stories and facts about moose. The bus was comfy, there was 11 of us and two others- a full bus! Thanks for a fun time Lori!

The view of Umbagog lake and the surrounding woods is very beautiful and an enjoyable sight to look at, especially if you're walking around the spacious property. I've been coming here for a few years now, and everytime has been great. Also, the owners have a very friendly and adorable cat who often greets visitors. Mr. Cat is a very good guide and has always made my family and I feel welcome.

When people say 'looks can be deceiving' this is what they are talking about. I had booked a…read morerafting trip for my friends bachelorette party and were looking for something that could accommodate all 6 of us. My first interaction was via the phone and the owner was very curt. First I wanted to book one night, but she stated "We can do that, but we usually don't." Not wanting to cause difficulties, I contacted the other girls and we all agreed to stay for 2 nights but wouldn't be able to get there until late. Originally we thought we would get there around 8 because the owner said she "goes to bed early." Unfortunately there is no service and we ended up leaving later than expected and didn't get there til 10:30 pm. The sign is not lit up and is very difficult to navigate after the sun goes down. We ended up going down the wrong driveway into her house/ office one- causing her to wake up. She asked us to come sign-in and then directed us to our cabin. The cabin had 2 full size beds and 2 fold-up cots. One cot had multiple stains- dark brown which looked like blood, but who knows (we did not even use this one). We were told to bring our own pillows, blankets and towels- there were some blankets and pillows there but I didn't even want to touch them. There were multiple screens that were broken, letting bugs in when the windows were open. The water smelled of eggs and it was difficult to even shower as the smell was making us gag. The website stated that there was a gas grill and firewood- this was not true. There was no grill and the 2 huge piles of fire were "not for sale, they are for heating the owners house." We had to drive over 20 minutes to Errol, NH to buy firewood. The second night we were there we had a fire in the wood stove, drinking and having a good time- we may have been a little loud but we were not out of control. A guy (not sure exactly what he was- the owners boyfriend, a friend or relative) came storming up to us shouting and cursing- stating that we are being too loud, that we were going to be kicked out and that he was going to call the police. We told him we were sorry and it wouldn't happen again, but his unnecessary behavior went on for 10 minutes. It wasn't until the owner, who was there throughout this guy's meltdown, grabbed his arm and made him leave. We ended up checking out an hour early- having removed all trash, cleaned and put everything back the way it was. These people were so unprofessional as we left he flipped us off. We will not be returning and I would not recommend this place to anyone. We also were only supplied with 2 rolls of toilet paper and ran out within 24 hours.
