Memory Corner was worth the visit--even though I came quite a while after it opened and expected it to be packed, there was actually no wait when I arrived.
The restaurant has a large waiting area with plenty of seating and a water dispenser, which makes sense given how popular it can get. I got lucky and was seated right by the pond, which felt like the best spot in the house.
The décor is quite dramatic in the best way--fog drifting over the water, glowing red lanterns, real fish swimming in the pond, and a mix of retro posters and carved wooden sculptures. It feels immersive, almost like stepping into a little theatrical world.
Ordering is done via QR code. It's convenient, though I did find myself wondering if my order had gone through until the food actually arrived.
I was hesitant at first because it was summer, but I went for the vegetarian tomato and tofu hot pot (with a choice of glass noodles or rice noodles). I was pleasantly surprised--the tomato broth was naturally sweet, rich, and comforting in a way I didn't expect.
The pot came loaded with Taiwanese cabbage, baby bok choy, tomatoes, and mushrooms. Even as a Taiwanese-style vegetarian dish (without garlic, onion, or ginger), it was still deeply flavorful. I finished the entire bowl of soup--it was that good.
A small detail I appreciated: the waitress noticed me taking photos and kindly said, "Feel free to take pictures," which made the experience feel more relaxed and welcoming.
A beautiful, atmospheric spot with a surprisingly satisfying vegetarian hot pot. read more
