Northside Park - Public Exercise Equipment Area

I had a good experience at Northside Park. I visited on a Saturday (around 11:35AM). This…read morelocation overflows jam with public utilities. WOW! It's a BIG park. Did I feel safe? Yes. The park is clean, well-maintained. However, it also felt very empty since the park is BIG. This park sits by Hodge Elementary School. What utilities? There's two baseball fields, three tennis courts, one volleyball court with net, a park exercise equipment section, one basketball court, a horseshoe throwing section, frisbee golf course, two somewhat generic playgrounds, restroom area, and public table patios with a grill area. This park also claims to have a walking trail, but it felt like a winding concrete sidewalk that sort of looped. What are the negatives? The playground areas felt a little outdated and small. Also, the concrete "walking trail" is not comfortable. Shade is sparse, and the "walking trail" felt like an afterthought. The location is also very plain; it's not a gorgeous type of park with cute animals. Overall, Northside Park is a very good park because it has big value. This location offers many utilities, and it's a fantastic spot to host a fun event. If you enjoy tennis, baseball, or frisbee gold, this is a wonderful spot. 4.6 out of 5

I come here because there's a disc golf course! Its small only half course but it's a good layout and use of space. You can play two or three rounds and there's plenty of street parking. There's a pretend airplane for kids; there's a small tropical playground where toddlers can run into a cat's mouth; and there's a lot of nets for climbing. This location is open from 5AM to 10PM. Did I feel safe? Yes. This park only had families with children. It's also one of the West Covina Parks that confidently post their rules. There's many signs labeled "Park Watch" to keep residents safe. What utilities? There's two main playgrounds. One play ground has an airplane that kids can climb into. That same playground has nets where they can freely climb; the floor is spongey foam, so they have a soft landing. The other playground is tropical and fenced. Toddlers can run near plastic trees, and there's a plastic cat with an open mouth where they can sprint through. The location also has a fenced baseball field; there's a public shaded patio with tables; and there's public park gym equipment equipped with umbrellas for shade. There's also a restroom and water fountains. What are the negatives? This location doesn't feel very pet friendly. I didn't see any pet waste bags, and there's not really a walking area. There's a possible concrete walking loop, but visitors will be walking on the sidewalk. Also, it lacks many common utilities (example: no basketball courts, no tennis courts, etc). Overall, Palm View Park squeaks into a 5 Star because it feels memorable for families. The playgrounds are very adorable, and I like how there's beautiful, big trees near the seating area. If searching for some interesting playgrounds, this is a good choice if already nearby. 4.5 out of 5

I have always played basketball. I have always preferred organized basketball opposed to pickup street ball at the park or the gym. When I go to other gyms I'll wait up to 2 hours for a single game. Or when I go to the gym during rush hour I can never hop on a free treadmill. Here at pickup it solves all those problems. There's rarely people working out at this gym but if there is it's only about two or three people using the area. It's always clean, always smells good, always the perfect temperature in the facility. But the pride and joy of this gym is the Pick up basketball games. From 6-9pm during the week and early mornings on the weekends there are pick up games with referees and practice jerseys for everyone. Each game is ten minutes and sudden death overtime usually caused by a free throw. Yes there are free throws. Last ten seconds of the game every foul sends you to the line. It really is the best gym money has to offer if your a basketball player. If your a parent with kids wanting to join the game. They now have a youth league from 6-13 years old. They have skills camp for the kids and personal one on one training as well.

One of my favorite parks in the area--…read more I originally heard of this park after a recommendation on where to host a baby shower/ park picnic. We ended up renting a large picnic shelter and it is actually in high demand during the summer time (rented out in June for an August date). Despite a very warm day (mid-high 90s) the shelter kept us relatively cool. The kids loved the space-themed playground and the large shelter can host up to 180 or so people whereas the smaller shelter can host up to 50 or so people. (+): experience with renting out the shelter- benches were clean, employees were nice (+): amenities of the park- tennis courts, large walking area, multiple parking lots, basketball courts Overall, I would come here again and also consider renting out the park shelters.

They have a designated walkway for people who are running/walking, basketball courts, tennis courts, pickleball courts, playground, and spaceship in the middle. It's newly renovated which makes the quality a lot smoother than before. Restrooms are available as well near the courts and also near the playground area. Parking is plentiful in parking lot but can fill up quick. Street parking is also available for free. There's 8 pickleball courts, which fills up quick these days. You can queue up with your paddles when it's full. The pickleball community here is great, on the weekends there's people who manage it voluntarily which is nice for newcomers. Overall, a great renovated park, very clean, friendly people, and spacious.

This location is open from 5AM to 10PM. Did I feel safe? Yes. Everything is clean and spiffy. Primarily, I saw cheerful families and joggers. I even saw park staff and a couple walking their dog. There's also an installed lighting system that turns on when it gets dark. What utilities? There's four pickleball courts, rubber walking trail, brand new playground, two public fitness areas with park exercise equipment, one basketball court, one soccer area, and one gated baseball field area. There's also a restroom with a nearby water fountain. And I spotted a dog waste plastic bag dispenser, so this location is dog friendly. What are the negatives? There are zero tennis courts. Also, the basketball courts are limited to just one. Also, there's not many public tables for eating. I spotted just three tables in the back (near the playground) and two tables in the front (near parking). Lastly, unlike Covina Park, there were no cute, friendly squirrels to be seen. Overall, Hollenbeck Park is spectacular! I am a long-time resident of Covina, and I am genuinely blown away by all these renovations. In the past, this spot was not special. Now... it's one of the best parks that I've ever visited. If searching for a family friendly location or a safe spot to exercise, this is a very easy choice. 5 out of 5!!!!

So glad they made a walking path in the park! We walk down to Covina park a lot since the playground and walking path were added. It's nice to have it in your backyard. 1/5 Restrooms could use an update. Not sure why there is never a changing table in the men's restroom. They are usable but my wife told me the women's door doesn't work. Men's door doesn't work for sure. 5/5 Playground had sand and wood chips along with some worn out rubber area. The new playground has something for kids of different ages. There is a toddler swing for your little ones if they want to swing away. Little kids coffee shop with seating for your Little's. We've enjoyed every time we've had the chance to go. The kids love to go on the slides or the double swing. 5/5 Walking path. It has lights and is spongy. It's great to see our neighbors out walking, kids riding their bikes or scooters. They also have exercise equipment to get your swell on. 5/5 new basketball court for you to yell "Kobe" as you drain the bucket. Neighbors please take care of our parks. Great to have the park updated. Now just the restroom needs a bit of TLC. God bless

I arrived on a Saturday (around 2:25PM). Parking is easy. The lot is connected to Cameron Park's lot, so I easily found a space since it's big. Staff is very courteous and professional. Staff appeared a little guarded and confused that someone had approached them to ask questions, but Staff politely helped. I asked about the hours and basketball court. Staff explained that there's a $2 fee for the basketball court, and Staff said it's available on the weekdays from 9AM to 4PM. Later, I double-checked their website, and I noticed that Staff omitted the information that it's also free for kids. I will attach a picture of that information to this review. Staff came off as polite, but it's strange how Staff repeatedly emphasized how the official hours were always subject to change. When I'd explored the Recreation Center, the place is shiny and spotless. I spotted their game center (includes a foosball table, pingpong table, and pool table). And I saw their shiny basketball court. The location also had available restrooms and places to sit. It looked very inviting. Overall, the Cameron Park Recreation Center is a welcomed addition to the community. Awkward Staff aside, I had a pleasant experience. 4.6 out of 5
