This is actually my second time buying furniture here. A few years ago we got a side table with…read morebuilt in power outlets that was unique and perfect for our odd sized space. Its held up great, so when I was looking for a low but long dresser (another odd size space to fill) and I figured I'd check them out again. I'd shopped around and had no luck finding something that fit my criteria. First, it needed to fit in the space. Second, it needed to be in my price range. Third, it needed to be REAL furniture, not that Amazon press board type of junk. On top of all that if it matched my room then even better, but I'd sacrifice on looks if I had to. I walked in and was greeted right away. The sales guy asked if I was looking for something specific or just browsing. I told him what I was looking for and exactly what my max dimensions were as I walked around looking at the dressers. He walks away for a second and comes back and calls me over to a dresser. "If you don't mind keeping the legs off of it this might work". Sure enough this thing was picture perfect. It was Just at the max for my dimensions and budget, but that included threshold delivery. The boss on duty came over and we finalized everything so easily, I honestly should have just started my day here and saved myself a lot of trouble shopping around. My delivery came on time and at the earliest point in my 3 hour window. Super nice delivery team as well. This makes 2 great experiences at this spot for me so I definitely recommend checking them out!

In fact, she said everyone thinks that and Kirkland's has been around for a long time and originated out of Brentwood, TN. Who knew? What I found odd about this store is the fact it's not too far from Pier 1, and some of the items you could find at both locations. Here's Kirkland's in a nutshell. It is a great place to get home decor items that you will see everywhere else. Like wooden painted signs with cute messages, frames, mirrors, lamps, candles, wire baskets, throw pillows, and a few furniture items (think Joanna Gaines). Take Hobby Lobby + Tuesday Morning + World Market + Joanne Fabrics + Pier 1. I'll be honest and say I didn't really see anything that was for me, other than some random cute pajamas from their small, curated PJ area, but I would go back for a gift for sure. Kind and informative customer service. **If you're a home stager, this is your place!

(I refuse to pay for shipping, nor did I want to wait for it to ship). I didn't know there was a West Elm in Vernon Hills, and apparently no one else does either because they didn't have a Yelp page until now! Anyway, I ordered online on a Friday morning for in-store pickup, and I had an email stating it was ready within about 45 minutes. I went over that afternoon, and the pickup process was quick and easy. Parking was super easy as well. The store itself is a typical West Elm store -- super cute, a little overpriced for what it is, but still easy to kill a lot of time in the store looking around. And I love my new lamp.

5 stars to their employees, 1 star to my overall experience…read more 1 Star to the company: After a basement renovation, we put in an in store order before Thanksgiving for a Black Friday deal, and bought a carpet that would look great with the new sofa fabric. 5+ weeks later we get an email simply stating that our order was canceled since our fabric choice was unavailable. No statement regarding refund. No explanation as to why it took 5+ weeks for them to figure this the f out! We immediately went to our local store, and the manager called Customer Service and found out that they should be calling my cell in 24 hours (but very likely sooner), with a % off a full price offer. With that in mind, we selected a few fabric options to consider and headed home. No call came over the next 72 hours, so I called and was offered $250 off my next order. No expedited shipping. No % discount. And definitely not acceptable considering the substantial time it took the company to figure out they didn't have enough fabric (and now we're quite beyond the time when most quality furniture companies are no longer having good seasonal sales). My partner and I are incredibly frustrated and declined the offer, since the shipping dates (at least those listed online) were 2 months out. We purchased a lower quality couch from another vendor that would get here substantially sooner, as we are fed up and want the basement to be whole. 5 stars to the actual humans we spoke to: -Our initial contact, Christine (I think that's her name!), who helped us find and design our dream couch, and guided us to pick a wonderful fabric that would look great in our newly remodeled basement and would be black kitty friendly, and which I then was able to coordinate buying a carpet around. -Tim, the store manager, who helped us the day we found out our order was canceled, who contacted Customer Service, shared our frustration, tried to find out what the % off we would get (customer service wasn't able to tell him), and helped us pick a few samples out that I could consider at home. -The customer service rep who I personally spoke to, Katherine, who was pleasant, kind, and tried to appropriately escalate the case. She was wonderful and it wasn't her fault that I left the call completely unsatisfied and disappointed. All three individuals provided exemplary customer service and this review is no commentary on them or the service they provided, but I will not shop at West Elm again. Room & Board is pricier, but my family and I have always had excellent full cycle experiences there and I will happily return!

1 star -- Repeated warehouse damage, incorrect assembly and failed deliveries. Over a month with no…read moreresolution, plus added costs and canceled plans. We ordered a couch (plus a coffee table and side tables) from Steinhafels and selected a delivery date based on the availability offered at checkout. What should have been a standard delivery of brand-new furniture turned into multiple failed attempts, damaged items and ongoing confusion. It has now been more than a month and we still do not have a functioning couch. The core issue is not a minor cosmetic issue. It's Steinhafels' warehouse handling and assembly quality, which then gets pushed to the delivery team to try to fix in real time. A brand-new couch should not arrive ripped, incorrectly assembled or broken on the truck -- and a replacement should not show up with the same kind of damage. What happened (timeline) Delivery attempt No. 1: * We received no advance notice of any problem. * The delivery team arrived and told us the couch was damaged at the warehouse and could not be delivered. The drivers even indicated we should have been notified ahead of time, but we were not. * Once the truck was opened, it was also clear the coffee table and side tables were damaged, and the drivers refused to deliver them due to the damage. Delivery attempt No. 2: * The couch finally arrived, but it was in unacceptable condition for a new purchase: ripped upholstery, improper assembly, bent in the center, bottom riser dragging, wrong legs. * We were not comfortable sitting on it. We also felt pushed toward a "repair" solution, which is not appropriate for a brand-new couch delivered in defective condition with incorrect assembly. * This attempt also had a real impact on our plans. We were expecting the delivery to be resolved before hosting, and we ended up having to cancel our New Year's Eve party at the last minute because the couch situation was still not resolved after this failed delivery. Delivery attempt No. 3 (the "replacement"): * This was supposed to be a simple exchange: broken couch out, new couch in. * The delivery team told us the replacement couch was already broken on the truck -- the footrest was bent. They tried to repair it, but it was still not functioning properly. After three attempts, we were once again left without a working couch. Additional issues: store runarounds and extra costs Every delivery attempt has required us to drive to the store to get anyone's attention -- only for the store to call the same customer service line that has been unhelpful and unable to resolve the issue. We also live in a high-rise in the city, which adds real costs and logistics each time a delivery is scheduled. Every attempt requires reserving the service elevator, which costs us about $200 each time -- and we have had to do that repeatedly because Steinhafels has not delivered a usable couch.
