I recently visited The Melting Pot to celebrate my birthday, and I have mixed feelings about the experience. First, the food was absolutely amazing. Every course was delicious, and the overall dining concept makes it a really fun and unique place to celebrate something special. Unfortunately, the service did not match the price point. When you're spending close to $300 for two people, you expect a certain level of professionalism. Our server was friendly, but she used curse words during service and seemed to prioritize another table next to us. They were seated after us and finished their entire meal in about an hour and a half, while we were there for nearly three hours. The most disappointing part of the night happened during dessert. We ordered the Flaming Turtle (which was delicious), but our server instructed me to hold a spoon that was extremely hot, and it ended up burning my hand badly enough that I couldn't even enjoy the dessert, it left blisters and was very painful. . She apologized once and told me to "put some cold water on it," but didn't check back in, offer further help, or make any attempt to adjust the bill after that. We didn't ask to speak to a manager because we had already been there for so long and were running late with our parking spot and we just didn't want to sour our night, but it definitely impacted the experience. Overall, the food at The Melting Pot is fantastic and worth trying, but the service we received was unprofessional and disappointing, especially for such a special occasion. Melting Pot was a staple of St. pete for years until their location closed on 4th street, and much to our delight, we saw this new location open on Central Avenue. This new location feels and looks different than their legacy locations, and I really like the changes they have made. Our server was James, who clearly is a professional and does an exceptional job across the board. The food arrived promptly and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. We opted for the four course dinner, which is $120 for two people, and you will leave full if you go this route. The alpine cheese was our starter, and it was very tasty. My Caesar salad was great as was my wife's house salad. The dipping sauces for the main course are flavorful and enjoyable- try them all. For the chocolate dessert, we went with the s'mores special and it was delectable. Worthy addition to central Avenue and a great spot for date night, or a celebration. Of course, we just dropped in for dinner- who doesn't enjoy fondue? One small thing to work on is their POS system does not match their bill as the check option does not show the $60/person option- they list it as individual options, which is a miss on their part. If I order a four course meal for $120 for two, the bill should show that. Our bill was originally wrong, but was promptly fixed upon notification. Such a great location-right along Central Avenue. It's a perfect mix of modern... and those swanky, traditional MelPo vibes. And the service is fantastic! I had one of the friendliest waiters ever. He made me feel so welcome and was so friendly, warm and accommodating. This was the perfect spot to stop in, on a holiday Saturday in December. And... big, big bonus: they had some special holiday blends! I was ecstatic with the cranberry bacon cheese. Ohhh, my gosh. Incredible stuff!!! There was a fig and Brie on the holiday menu, too. I wish the season lasted longer. I'd go right back and get that, too! I always get their version of a lemon drop. It's perfect-the flavors are all in proportion and it's not too sweet. Ooo, I could go for one right now. Their drink menu features lots of fun cocktails plus wines and beer. This location is roomy-sleek and sophisticated-in a super trendy area. Everything from the welcoming hosts, amiable server, helpful employees, and tasty courses was wonderful! We haven't been to the melting pot for 18 years. Our last trip was when this restaurant was located on 4th street north. We booked tonight for a date night and it didn't disappoint. We had a 6pm reservation and arrived at 5:50pm. We were greeted by very nice employees/hosts and seated immediately. Our hosts suggested a drink that she loves and it was a great suggestion. Within seconds our waitress arrived and got us started on drinks. I ordered a "Coming up Roses" and my husband ordered a "stone fruit sour." Both were delayed due to the bar being backed up but our waitress Hannah apologized and got us waters and helped us thru the menu while we waited. We chose the 4 course for 2. Classic Alpine cheese, a house salad/strawberry spinach salads, Coq Au Vin cooking method with Pacific Rim and an all dark chocolate dessert. Our drinks arrived shortly thereafter and were phenomenal. I highly recommend having a cocktail. Cheese course was great- my fave dippers were the pretzel bread, apples, broccoli, and grapes. We asked for and got extra apples and broccoli too (you just have to ask for more!). Our cooking method was perfect and the pacific rim was delicious. Our favorites were the steak, pot stickers and duck. You can get more broccoli, potatoes and mushrooms. We poured those in the pot and let them soak/cook while we cooked the meats. The sauces were all so good. Green goddess was both of our favorites. We also liked the teriyaki for the pot stickers and the mango curry! I tried them all and they were all good. A male server came by and picked up our broth and saw the table was dirty from us. He came by and wiped it down with a rag and chatted with us. Because the table was now wet and he didn't want us to have to sit at a wet table, he came back with a dry cloth to clean everything up. Very nice and unexpected! Our dark chocolate came and we were almost full. The chocolate was flavorful and paired best with the fruit, pound cake, and rice crispies. I found the brownie, blonde and Oreo to be too sweet when dipped in the chocolate- but it didn't keep me from eating them! Loved it all. Hannah was prompt and professional but also personable. I am thankful for her service tonight, as she did a great job. So happy to see a Melting Pot close to us again. It was a sad day when they closed the one on 4th. When I got the email from them that 4/11 was national cheese fondue day and they were having a special grande cru cheese during April for their anniversary we had to go! Made the reservation n OpenTable then headed down. So the lace is very modern. The inside / outside bar was nice. Will definitely be back for the happy hour which we didn't even know they had till we got there. Happy hour 3-6 was not advertised on their site. Got a table by the window since it was so nice. Definitely brighter than other melting pots, especially the one on 4th where it was so dark. Because of that and the loudness it was so much less intimate. The loudness was really annoying. Even our servers had to yell. Pretty much the same menu with a few extras. We both got the 4 course the picked different proteins so we could try each others. Didn't like that we had to order everything all at once but I guess you should know what courses you want right? Come to find out the Grande Cru cheese was not available. Still not totally sure why. Everyone seemed to not know what i was talking about. I showed them my email from them. We tried the cheddar bacon and whiskey. Very tasty but never melted enough for a good fonduey consistency. Went on a date over the weekend, we were one of 3 tables seated in the entire restaurant. Somehow, it felt as if the servers were stressed out of their mind, despite the small amount of customers. We waited around 30 minutes after finishing each course before someone even checked in on us. Food was lackluster, considering they served us old, sour strawberries, and never had the opportunity to explain anything to us. Happy Hour fondue at the bar 4-6. As someone who has visited many melting pot restaurants I was surprised my fondue was made table side in front of me except for the parm, black pepper and Tabasco. The spinach artichoke had maybe 5 leafs of spinach and not sure there was any artichoke, I guess the cheaper happy hour price you don't get the normal recipe. The choice of dippers was excellent at this location, great variety. We also got the alpine cheese and the recipe was very diffent and VERY lemony, I did not like it at this location. The service was great, we really enjoyed the staff working behind the bars and they kept our drinks full and checked in often but weren't annoying. This location has fondue tables outside and is also dog friendly. Over all good location, just some improvements could be made with the happy hour cheese recipes and one of our pots had dried on chocolate that didn't look appetizing. read more

My wife and I had the absolute privilege of attending the friends and family soft opening of The Melting Pot in downtown St. Petersburg, and it was nothing short of spectacular. This newest addition to St. Pete's burgeoning family of upscale eateries is a total game changer. From the moment we walked in, we were blown away by the ambiance, the hospitality, and the attention to detail. Our server, Kelsey, was the absolute highlight anticipating our every need, walking us through the robust and nuanced menu, and ensuring our experience was dialed into perfection. I see management in her future, no doubt. We kicked off the evening with the zero-proof Bees Tea mocktail refreshing and floral, but definitely on the sweeter side (which we loved). For starters, the Classic Alpine cheese fondue was incredible: a melty mix of Gruyère, Raclette, Fontina, white wine, garlic, and nutmeg pure indulgence in a pot. The California salad was bright and crisp with mixed greens and a tangy raspberry vinaigrette that balanced beautifully with the rich courses on either side. James stands out in my mind as one of the best waiters I have ever had in my life, and someone who elevated the entire experience. My wife and I particularly passed on the traditional steakhouse or sushi dinner to go to Melting Pot for a date night because we wanted something fun, adventurous, and new. A very disappointing performance by the new Melting Pot. Upon arrival (we had 6:30 reservations), we were greeted by an empty hostess stand and left there for quite a while before someone finally decided to check us in. Of course, while we waited we did have a nice view of the dirty cleaning rag on top of the hostess stand. She did advise us if we went with the 4 course meal it would take around 90 minutes for the complete dinner. We were fine with that as we were regulars at the old location as well as many others throughout the states. Although the restaurant was relatively open but they tried to seat us at a 1/2 booth right in the main aisle, but agreed to move us to a different booth which we appreciated. It took another long time for our waitress to come to take drink orders (note - she wasn't supposed to wait on us but the other waiter was busy so he gave her our table). Hannah was very nice and took our orders yet the original waiter, Josh, brought us our drinks and said they were giving Hannah the night off since they weren't busy and he would be serving us. We all gave Josh our complete orders at that time. The meal went south from there. The Wisconsin Cheddar had a weird taste, not their usual deliciousness. Our salads arrived and then there was literally at least a one hour delay before our main course. In fact, the delay was so long the waiter brought my wife a complimentary glass of wine for being so patient. By the time dinner finally arrived the bullion pot was getting low from evaporation, and the oil pot was so hot the outside of the food was fired in 30 seconds while the inside was raw. At this point, the waiter apologized for the delay because he said they shouldn't have let Hannah go because they were now so busy. The order was wrong and had to have some meals take back to get the correct food. We finally completed dinner (no dessert) after 9pm. Horrible experience and we won't be back. read more

The Melting Pot chain has always been a great date place. They always had subdued lighting and private booths where you could have a private and intimate evening. Not here in St. Petersburg. As one member of my party described it - It was a high school cafeteria with sterile white tables, all laid out on a perfect grid with super high ceilings, overly loud, downright annoying (not relaxing or romantic) music. This is not what Melting Pot was all about. At times it felt like you were eating in a food court of a mall. It looked like it and the ambiance was it. Lots of people moving about - most not seeming to know where they were going or what they were doing. This included both staff and other customers. A true good Melting Pot would have hidden any of that noise from you. The table we had was also too small for four adults trying to negotiate fondue pots. Other tables looked the same, so again, a sign of lets pack them in tight, make a bunch of money, and toss out any of the niceties that Melting Pot was once known for. The food was essentially the same as it has been for donkey-years. Frankly it is time for a refresh. In fact some things that had been on the menu were no longer there so it was actually a smaller menu. As always, their menu was about as confusing as it could be. For those of us who have learned how to navigate their menu it isn't an issue but for newbies - I feel sorry for them. As for quality of the food I'd rate it "okay" but certainly not "incredible" as one other reviewer commented. These so-called "influencers" do a disservice to all of us who are looking to secure value for our money and to have an enjoyable time out. And in terms of quantity of food, it was definitely less than it had been. A $42.00 cheese fondue for three people with modest appetites should NOT run out of cheese. The staff was at both times understaffed and overstaffed. Staff complained about the noise and not being able to hear customers and made a mistake in our ordering of a particular cheese fondue as they heard it wrong. Sigh. The staff, if they stay, will likely get better, if managed properly , but they were not adequately skilled to handle the Melting Pot. Now, for the two "managers" standing around - I can only hope you were taking notes and acting on those after hours, as standing around is not going to fix these issues. But then a review on April 12, a half-month ago highlighted that the managers were avoiding the patrons. Hmmm... What is with the bar opening on to Central Avenue? Fortunately, it was not hot when we were there, so we didn't have to deal with the heat pouring in from the street. Just the noise from the traffic, the police, the EMT. Again, not a romantic venue - sigh. Please note the number of these early reviewers who were invited to their soft opening. These people are paid advertising staff who know that they can't post an honest review. It is shameful - it is all management hype and vibe to paraphrase another viewer. This review by someone who did not receive any incentives from the restaurant, management, or employees. I have been to more than ten Melting Pots in various parts of the country, and likely eaten a hundred meals at them. This one is a no go... We really needed one back in St. Pete but this was a mistake. read more

We made reservations tonight to celebrate Mother's Day because I have to work on Mother's Day. When we checked in for our 6:15 reservation we were asked if we had any time constraints and told it would be a 90 minute experience. We did not opt for the 4 course experience. Thank God we opted for only 2 courses. It took forever to get our food and we ended up having to cancel dessert because we had been at our table for 3 hours and still waiting for dessert, even after our server said management was looking into it. Management never came to see us or apologize, but the server did. She was a great server, doing the best she could. We certainly do not fault her. We were given "free chocolate fondue" cards to use at our next visit, but I doubt we would return before the expiration date.
