Don't miss out on this place. If you're second guessing, don't. Just do it! First off, Gulfport is a great area and this restaurant makes it even better, another fantastic food spot. The menu brings a variety of foods for everyone and offers unbelievable meat and food options. The appetizers didn't even make pictures because our table was so excited to eat and the presentation. The service is unbelievable and the vibes give laid back and great family feels. Be ready to spend on the higher side of things but the food is definitely worth it! Definitely hit The Pearl in Gulfport. Congrats Chef Karim

The service was a highlight, along with the Coquilles St. Jacques scallop appetizer...ask for bread to soak up the cheesy spinach sauce with those. The cocktails were average, especially the way too sweet sugar-rimmed espresso martini...which ended up with sugar falling to the stem of the glass and resulted is sugary sticky fingers from holding the stem to drink. This evening was their Wednesday prime rib special...this was a major disappointment. The other disappointment was the dry, overcooked halibut fish of the day special. Pricey dinner for average to below average food. May consider giving it another chance -- wanting to support local business in a part of town that really needs more restaurant choices -- but not likely.

I was not expecting such a good Mother's Day meal when I went here. Everything was fresh and you can tell they were breaking down all of their own ingredients in the back or they were as close to farm to table without having the ranch behind the restaurant. Started with a Casa Blanca beer from Morocco as you do in a Moroccan restaurant and it tasted like a full bodied light lager similar to an asahi super dry. With the appetizer we went with the bacon wrapped dates and the tuna martini. The dates came and were sweet and nutty with a hint of the jalapeño flavor and creaminess of the goat cheese. Overall really good but I did want a little bit of texture of like a walnut or an almond to add a crunch to it. Still it was really good and came on a lightly dressed tomato onion salad. The tuna martini was delicious sushi grade tuna with a couple sauces and caviar topping a vibrantly green seaweed salad. Would recommend this as well. In between the apps and entrees we went with the bread and oil and the salads which were dressed with what seemed like a peanut dressing but different and Maybe some mint mixed in? Very much so enjoyed that. I decided to take a walk on the wilder side and went with one of the wild game meats for the evening and the Camel was in. I've never seen camel on a menu before and didn't even know people ate it or and if so if it was something that should cooked through like pork or to temp like a beef. But it makes sense when you think about what you have in the sahara. Anyway would definitely recommend getting the camel if then have it. I would liken it most to a roast beef and it cooks like beef as well. It came in a complex sweet and savory gravy showcasing a depth of flavor with the Moroccan spices. Sides of mashed potatoes with maybe squash and carrots blended in, asparagus and broccolini and 1/2 a pepper with a baked bread crumbs that made it a great twist on your traditional steak dinner. Dessert was an amazing butter tart Al a mode with home made vanilla ice cream, walnuts and a butter scotch syrup drizzle. I'd say get some help eating it or just bring a shot of insulin to keep ya going. Really one of the best desserts I've had in a while. And then no meal is complete without the night cap to finish it off and that's where the kronenbourg entered for that crispy beer you can drink all day. Service was great and everything came out quickly considering it was being made fresh and to order. 5/5 would recommend to a friend that wants a taste of Morocco and expand their palette

The service was great! Our server was attentive for most of the evening and accomodated the changes we asked for with a great attitude. The stars I have given are because oif her. The food was ok, not great. So many people had raved about theis place and i want to support small business always. I would not come back for the food at all.

My husband brought me here for a birthday celebration and I wanted to love it for that reason. I had anticipated something much different than it was. Atmosphere is just ok. I didn't care for the open kitchen concept and the big TV in the middle of the room doesn't belong at all. There was a limited holiday menu that didn't have many choices for me being a little bit of a picky eater. Our server was friendly and took our drink and food order at the same time. The wine pour was decent and my husband's soup came out quickly. I ordered the short ribs, which came with bread, a salad, mashed potatoes and vegetable medley. The salad was served quickly too, and I was starting to feel that they wanted our table turned over even though there were plenty of empty tables. The salad was so watered down that I barely ate any of it. Truly disappointing. The bread was delicious. No sooner had they taken the salad away and my entree arrived. Definitely feeling rushed at this point. The short ribs were good, but they were so fatty that there wasn't a lot of meat to enjoy. The flavors were great, but again, disappointing. We were done with our meal in 50 minutes. Very unlikely to return.

Atmosphere - Just OK. Based on the menu and the few pictures of the inside, I had the impression that the restaurant was more upscale. Located a few blocks away from the main area of town, the restaurant has a combination of four tops and booths. It is dark and the furnishings are nothing special. Service - Excellent! Our server was very attentive and friendly. Food - Just OK. I had the lobster bisque as a starter. It was just OK. The broth was thin and a bit bland. There was a sparse amount of lobster bits. I ordered the Rack of Lamb at a medium cook. As you will notice in viewing the picture, two pieces were cooked correctly. However, two were beyond even medium well. The flavor was good, but also a bit bland. Overall Value - Just OK. The prices are reasonable and the service great. With just a few modifications to my meal, the experience would have rated 4 stars or higher.

Early bird special: BBQ Pork Ribs

Came for the Early bird specials and we'll definitely return to check out the rest of the menu! We ordered the BBQ pork ribs for $18. It included some mashed potatoes and veg. Also a tasty salad and bread as well. For the price and quality received, it's an easy home run. And the $6 happy hour bourbon cocktail was just perfect. With an inviting atmosphere and well-trained service, it's an impressive restaurant start to finish.

The blackened grouper and snapper were perfectly seasoned and flaky. The shrimp was crisp and fresh. The lobster tail was tender and sweet. The hush puppies and fried okra were hot and delicious. Even the sides, broccoli (so so so good), slaw, and onion rings, were done right. You can tell this is real Florida seafood. The handwritten menu, the fresh seafood market inside, the casual outdoor seating with string lights ...it feels authentic, not touristy. But the best part? The owner, Matthew. He was welcoming, kind, and clearly passionate about the restaurant he and his wife have built. After the hurricanes, they've lost many repeat local customers, and businesses like this need visitors to show up. If you want fresh seafood, generous portions, fair prices, and a true local experience in the Treasure Island area, this is the place. We'll absolutely be back, and we're telling everyone we know. Support local. Support family-owned. They deserve to thrive.

I looked forward to my meal at Hookin' for months. I have never eaten blue crabs from the shell,…read moreand I love whole lobster, so I thought that deconstructing another type of crustacean would be fun. I got off the bus and walked across the street and into the parking lot. It was fairly busy, and I made my way to the patio area, because outside seating only. There was a kind of tiki bar with a line where you go up and get your own alcoholic beverage any time you want. You can eat at the bar or at any of the picnic tables that you pass on the way to a kind of food truck with a window where you order your food and buy bottles of soda and iced tea from a vat full of ice. I loved the vibes right away. I got in line at the "truck". Then it was my turn to order. Well, whaddaya know, they just ran out of blue crabs! And no soft-shell crabs were available as the water they live in is not warm enough yet. But they did have one of my favorite seafood delicacies, stone crab claws, so I ordered those instead, and asked for the mustard sauce instead of melted butter. I also ordered French fries and cole slaw for my sides. And then I ordered one-half dozen raw oysters, because. I was given a little wire stand with a card inserted into the top with my order number on it, to be placed on my table. Then I sauntered over to the bar and ordered an IPA from the busy, bearded and well-tattooed bartender. If you are wearing shades you will be admonished to remove them before paying, and I saw why, as the display on the... pay thingy has excessive polarization. Next I found a good spot in the shade and sipped my beer and checked the place out. Was there music? I think so, but I can't remember! Just all kinds of folks having a good time. Two preschoolers were busily playing in the sand by the main walkway to the food line, and took up most of the path most of the time, but nobody seemed to mind. If you aren't into playing with little trucks in the sand I think there is also corn hole off in one corner. If you don't know what that is, I dare you to look it up. After not too long some plates of food showed up, and I took some pictures and then got busy. First I tried the fries, because they are best when fresh and hot, but the fries were limp and sad. I just let their little ol' hand-cut selves alone. The oysters were served on the half shell on ice, and came with nice hot grated horseradish and cocktail sauce, plenty of lemon wedges, and saltine crackers. They were excellent! Then I turned my attention to the claws, glorious stone crab claws. I noticed that I was given butter instead of mustard sauce. That didn't stop me. But what did slow me down was the lack of a claw-cracker. The claws were pre-cracked a bit, but not in a way that was helpful to get at the meat. And I need leverage to rip the joints apart as my fingers don't work like they used to, so I asked for, and received quickly, a cracker. Some of the claws were on the small side, and the meat in some of the claws was a bit soft-feeling, but it was all pretty tasty. However, they fell short of my previous experiences elsewhere, including when I cooked some at home a few years ago. The cole slaw was very good. The young guy who brought my food and cracker tool was friendly, and quite funny. The woman who took my order was also nice. The bartender was just to busy to be anything but awesome. So all in all, the food was a bit of a letdown. I will try to go back for the crabs, and I saw hush puppies in a photo, that would be better than the fries.

Wow. I expected more from a place rated 4 stars. To be…read morespecific we went to the beach bar because the restaurant wasn't open yet. The very first issue was parking. Parking is minimum $50 a day + fees. A cocktail? For an hour? Haha no. I'm being mildly disingenuous. The bar staff (and likely restaurant staff) will give you a QR code to validate all $58 of your parking. But it made me acutely miss a time when you could just park and patronize an establishment. Just don't forget to validate your parking, cuz they sure didn't ask preemptively. They were celebrating a 3-day grand reopening when we went on Saturday. There was *one* artisan in their market space. The music was pumping loud enough to not be able to converse. Although it drew a crowd of younger folks, there was not much to behold from the "grand" reopening. Not even s cost of paint. The beach bar may not have been part of the sprucing up idk, I didn't see anything worth celebrating. I meant to look at the size of the cocktail cup that we got (small), but $13-14 for a cocktail is highway robbery for the end result. And $18 for 6 wings ($3 a wing) was a little disappointing. I expected better of a Hilton adjoined restaurant. No one part was terrible. It was just the way they matched up - loud, expensive, small portions. If you're loud maybe you're cheap and tasty. If you're expensive, maybe you're fast and delicious. This was all the worst parts of a bar that doesn't care about its patrons' economics. A bar that wants to serve tourists with mediocrity and move on to the next crop of people who will never be there again. If you're a tourist it'll probably be fine, if overpriced. If you're a local, don't bother. To be fair, we should ask if there was anything good. hm ... no. We won't be returning. 3 stars is probably generous.
